Sweet Conversations Envelope With Hearts Card

We have this week and next to make valentines for our loved ones and friends so here is another card idea. I got this idea, Sweet Conversations Envelope With Hearts Card, from a similar one I saw on the virtual Stampin’ Up! event OnStage I watched back in November but reviewed the other day to make sure I got all the notes I wanted from it!

This card has a Real Red card base and a layer of pink and red hearts on a pattern from the Sweet Talk Designer Series Paper in the Spring Mini Catalog. This has been a really fun designer paper to work with and one of my favorite valentine’s papers! However, we will be able to use the “other side” of the patterns that look more “valentine-y” for more cards throughout the year. I love the stripe on one of the papers, for example!

Copying from the OnStage card I saw, I cut a piece of Vellum Cardstock smaller than normal for a layer and embossed it with the Gingham Embossing Folder. It is cut at 3 1/4″ x 4 1/2″. This Gingham Embossing Folder will be good for almost any background, very versatile.

On top of the vellum is a die-cut rectangle from the Stitched So Sweetly Dies in Basic White. The cute little envelope on top is made with one of the dies in the Sweet Hearts Dies. This die will be cute to use on future cards, as well, not just Valentine’s Day. Just cut it out, then fold on the already scored lines and add a little glue where the edges overlap, especially being careful if you want to stick something down into the envelope. I stamped and cut out two hearts from the Sweet Talk Designer Series Paper or you could stamp them from the Sweet Conversations Stamp Set.

Before adhering the rectangle to the card, I wrapped around the pink ribbon in the 1/8″ Cotton Ribbon Combo and tied a bow. Before adhering the vellum to the card, see where the embossed vellum is going to be and then add adhesive underneath where that rectangle will be placed so the adhesive will not show under the vellum as it is prone to do with vellum.

The greeting is stamped on a narrow strip of Basic White from the Sweet Conversations Stamp Set and flagged the ends to look like a little banner. It is popped up on Stampin’ Dimensionals®. And finally, a Polished Dot embellishment was added to the cute little red envelope adhered to the scalloped rectangle.

On the inside, I added a piece of Basic White on which to stamp a greeting or write a message. To decorate that a bit, I had a scrap of the hearts designer paper 3/4″ x 4″ that I adhered to the bottom of the white cardstock. You could also stamp a few hearts or cut out hearts from the designer paper.

Time to make those valentines and get them in the mail soon if need be! If you’d like to see another card using this same hearts pattern of designer paper, click HERE to see this post. It’s actually a similar design using the rectangle in the center with a decoration on top of it. I hope you can get some ideas from this Sweet Conversations Envelope With Hearts Card!

Friendly Hello Bird Just For You Card

Friendly Hello Bird Just For You Card

The first month of Stampin’ Up!’s Sale-A-Bration is over today! But there is one more month so maybe you can snag this beautiful designer paper and stamp set with a $100 purchase! This Friendly Hello Bird Just For You Card is made with the Friendly Hello Bundle.

I was in a card-making frenzy the other day with this Friendly Hello Bundle! I chose several colors of cardstock for card bases that matched the designer paper and cut the designer paper to layer on the card. Then I ended up making every card a slightly different design with different greetings and embellishments. I stamp at my kitchen table so it’s always a shame when I have to stop for dinner! But I find it easy to clean up my stamping stuff more than anything else because I know where each thing goes.

An interesting thing about the Friendly Hello Designer Series Paper is that it is designed so you can add some stamped line images to the paper! Some of the images in the Friendly Hello Stamp Set match the images in the paper.

For this card, though, I ended up using a Basic White card base plus a Petal Pink layer underneath the designer paper. I stamped the bird on a piece of Basic White and then cut it out with a die in the Tasteful Labels Dies. It seemed like it needed something, being all monochromatic, so I went back to an old technique we used to do a LOT – Sponging around the edges! This time, however, instead of using a piece of a Stamping Sponge, I used the new Blending Brushes. I just rubbed the brush on the Petal Pink ink pad to pick up some ink and started off the diecut before blending onto the edge. It’s very light, especially in the photo, but it just adds a little something! I popped this piece up with Stampin’ Dimensionals®.

The greeting is in the new stamp set Celebrating You. It is in the new Spring Mini Catalog on page 65. It is a stamp set full of basic greetings that we all need all year. There are other stamp sets that have fun and trendy sayings, but mostly we all need a set of these basic sentiments. This set will take care of all those important occasions from birthdays to baby to anniversary to Father’s Day! I stamped it in Petal Pink ink and just made the little banner ends.

Before adhering the layers to the card base, be sure to do the ribbon first! This is the very beautiful Petal Pink 5/8″ Organdy Striped Ribbon. It’s one of my favorites! I wrapped the ribbon around the card layers then tied a separate bow and adhered that with a Mini Glue Dot or two.

This Friendly Hello Bird Just For You Card is pretty basic, really, but the diecut showcasing the bird on a twig and sponged around the edge plus the ribbon makes it look rather elegant.

Hello Friend Greeting Card

Hello Friend Greeting Card

This Friendly Hello Stamp Set and the coordinating Friendly Hello Designer Paper go together to make all kinds of pretty cards for many occasions and you can get them both FREE during Stampin’ Up! Sale-A-Bration with a $100 purchase! Sale-A-Bration is the annual promotion Stampin’ Up! has that we all love! One month is just about over but you still have February to get your free goodies!

I was playing with this set and several different easy card designs just came to me! This was one of them, even though I didn’t start off thinking I would use this greeting! The card base is Basic White, although the other cards I was making had colored cardstock bases. Just add a layer of the Pool Party patterned paper with the flowers and birds.

The greeting is stamped in Pool Party ink on Basic White and then die cut with one of the Stitched Rectangles Dies. The white paper and the little scalloped edge stand out just fine from the busy background so I didn’t need another layer behind the greeting.

For a little extra decoration, I stamped the two flowers in the set in Pool Party ink also, then cut them out by hand (easy enough!). I popped those flowers up on Stampin’ Dimensionals® covering part of the bottom of the greeting. It’s easy to just stamp these flowers in colored ink for the monochromatic look that you don’t have to color in!

The Iridescent Rhinestones Basic Jewels were a great finishing touch as any sparkly embellishment is! I added two larger rhinestones to the flowers and then put three more of the smallest rhinestones on other parts of the card front. Can’t have too many jewels on a card! (Well, yes you can, but it’s hard to stop once you get started!!)

You can check out the Friendly Hello Bundle with the stamp set and Friendly Hello 12″ x 12″ Designer Series Paper in the Sale-A-Bration Brochure on pages 12-13 or in the Online Store. You’ll see several pretty card samples there as well! AND the designer paper is meant to be stamped on with certain outline images if you want to play!

Don’t let Sale-A-Bration pass you by! You know time flies if it is already the end of January and it seems like Christmas was just over a week or so ago!! If you have a $100 order, choose this Friendly Hello Bundle and make something like this Hello Friend Greeting Card and lots more!

Sweet Talk Candy Heart Valentine Card

Sweet Talk Candy Hearts Valentine Card

This Sweet Talk Candy Heart Valentine Card is another idea for you as Valentine’s Day creeps up on us! It’s almost February!! This designer paper is so cute you will want to make lots of Valentines to give and send to those you love! Think of how a card with this cute paper, handmade by you, will brighten someone’s day!

The card base is Blushing Bride cardstock, one of the coordinating colors. This paper is the Sweet Talk Designer Series Paper on page 9 of the January-June 2022 Mini Catalog. Every paper in this collection is one you will like. It’s “happy” paper! I chose the print with the conversation hearts. You could use any of those colors of hearts as the card base. Before adhering the designer paper to the card base, I added a strip of the White 3/8″ Glittered Organdy Ribbon vertically on the card, then tied a bow onto the strip of ribbon. The white is sheer but the little pink glitter speckles show up nicely against the card!

Instead of die-cutting, I punched two hearts with the Heart Punch Pack. You get two heart punches, one with a scalloped edge that you can use as a layer to the smaller one, or use the hearts individually. I used these punches on a card in THIS POST just the other day. The scalloped punch is Basic White and the smaller heart is Blushing Bride to match the card base.

To stamp the greeting on this card, I had to use a different technique since the heart wasn’t large enough for the long greeting. I wanted to use the “Happy Valentine’s Day” greeting in the Sweet Conversations Stamp Set but it is long and narrow. I simply stamped it on a strip of Basic White cardstock and then cut the words apart and glued them in place on the heart. To jazz it up a little bit, I added three of the smallest Elegant Faceted Gems.

This, of course, is one of the easiest basic card designs there is! Just change out the designer paper or the color of the card base and add a greeting and you are set! With all the cute and fun designs in the Sweet Talk Designer Series Paper, almost any paper you pick will make for an adorable Valentine!

Hello Ladybug Flower Card

I just had to try out my new Hello Ladybug Stamp Set and the coordinating Ladybug Builder Punch. To get started, I used one of the samples in the Spring Mini Catalog (p. 20) for my inspiration. The background is pretty much copied from the sample but I made the rest of the elements of the card a little different. Actually, seeing the leaf on one of the other samples inspired me to use the leaf on my card!

The card base is Flirty Flamingo, a color I seem to be drawn to pretty often lately. The card layer is Basic White cardstock which is stamped with the daisy in the Hello Ladybug Stamp Set. I stamped it once with full-strength Flirty Flamingo ink, then stamped it again which makes for a light shade. The flower center is stamped with Bumblebee ink. The leaf is stamped in Granny Apple Green ink and cut out by hand with my Paper Snips.

You can make two different kinds of ladybugs with this stamp set and punch. One ladybug stamped and punched out is the top view of the ladybug. If you like the side view of the ladybug, just stamp it! If you only want the Ladybug Builder Punch, you can just punch out its body in Basic Black cardstock and the wings in Real Red. Then add your own black spots on the wings with a marker or the new Classic Matte Dots or the Matte Black Dots. I adhered the wings right on the black body but then I popped up the whole ladybug with Stampin’ Dimensionals® on the leaf which is adhered direct to the card front.

The greeting is in the Hello Ladybug Stamp Set and I think is kind of cute! I punched it out with the Banners Pick a Punch. I think I forgot I owned this punch! Then I adhered it to a strip of Flirty Flamingo that was 1″ wide (since the greeting is 3/4″ wide in order to fit in the slot for the punch). I just trimmed the pointy end to match after it was adhered.

I thought the greeting still needed a little something, so I stamped the small flowers in the stamp set, some in Bumblebee Ink stamped off and some in Flirty Flamingo ink stamped off. I just cut the flowers out by hand and adhered them to the greeting. You can pull up the petals a little bit if you want them to look a little 3D. Then I added various gems to the flower centers. I think two were the In Color Jewels and one was one of the Elegant Faceted Gems.

And as the card was finished up, I decided to stamp the three little dots in the stamp set (probably for the flower centers) with Granny Apple Green ink. I really think this one little thing was just the finishing touch this card needed. I think the green color just made the background “pop” a little bit!

Use the Stampin’ Up! catalogs to get your creativity going if you need to, then often you will find that you will come up with something slightly different as you stamp along! I’m happy with my Hello Ladybug Flower Card!

Sweet Talk Lots of Love Valentine

Sweet Talk Lots of Love Valentine

This Sweet Talk Lots of Love Valentine seems like one of those traditional valentine cards you would make or send to someone! Lots of hearts, red paper, red and pink hearts, and a doily! Nothing else can say “Valentine” more than that!

Of course, this paper is in the Sweet Talk Designer Series Paper and is layered on a card base of Real Red cardstock. That’s a simple start! All those hearts crowded onto that designer paper really gets you in the mood for Valentine’s Day!

I wanted to use a doily on this card so I pulled out the new Heart & Home Doilies in the new Spring Mini Catalog as part of the Heart & Home Suite Collection. They come in three colors but you can turn them over and use the white side!.

Just because there was a Real Red die cut rectangle from the Scalloped Contours Dies already in my bag of cardstock, I decided to use it behind the doily. I think it helps it stand out a tiny bit against that busy background of all the little hearts.

Instead of using dies, I remembered we actually had a Heart Punch Pack of two coordinating punches! Dies are great but punches are faster! One heart has little scallops around the edge and the other is smaller and plain. I punched the scalloped heart in Real Red and the plain heart in Basic White. The greeting (actually stamped first before punching) is in the Celebrating You Stamp Set in the Spring Mini Catalog. The doily is glued down flat on the card but the hearts are popped up on Stampin’ Dimensionals®.

Since the Sweet Hearts Dies have some little bitty hearts dies, I decided to die cut a bunch of hearts in Real Red and Blushing Bride colors. They are adhered to the Basic White heart to mimic the many hearts on the designer paper. Partly for the sparkle and partly to cover up any bit of glue seeping behind the hearts, I added just three Champagne Rhinestone Jewels to the little hearts!

On the inside of the card, I added a layer of Basic White stamped with “Happy Valentine’s Day” from the Sweet Conversations Stamp Set and two little bitty die-cut hearts I had leftover!

Sweet Talk Candy Valentine Card

All of the papers in the Sweet Talk Designer Series Paper are so cute, but I especially love this paper with the candy! I decided to make a very simple and easy card to show as much of this paper as possible. As simple as it is, when I placed that paper layer on the Real Red card base to make this Sweet Talk Candy Valentine Card I just loved it! You have lots of color choices for a card base using this paper, too!

As I said, this card begins with a base of Real Red cardstock. Why not? It’s for Valentine’s Day! The Sweet Talk paper is cut at 4″ x 5 1/4″. Before adhering to the base, I adhered a piece of Real Red Mini Ruffled Ribbon around the side and then adhered that layer to the card base. Those candies just look so cute and colorful on the card!

For a greeting, I die cut the tag in the Sweet Hearts Dies and stamped the heart with greeting on it with Real Red ink. This little tag is a perfect size! Not too big and not too small. I tied it to the ribbon already on the card with a longer piece and tied a bow. To jazz up the tag a little bit, I added two Real Red die-cut hearts. I could have also stamped two little hearts as well. And of course, what would a Valentine be without a little sparkle, so I added a few Iridescent Rhinestone Basic Jewels to the tag and to the designer paper.

We don’t often show the inside of the card, but I added a layer of Basic White since the Real Red is rather dark for signing or writing a message. The greeting is from the Sweet Conversations Stamp Set. Since I had some extra die cut hearts, I put two of those on the corner of the inside of the card. I could have stamped something as well from that stamp set.

You can purchase the dies and stamp set together in the Sweet Conversations Bundle and save 10% by buying them together! I like that the dies come with one to make a little envelope and that tag I mentioned, plus lots of hearts!

Valentine’s Day is really sneaking up on us fast this year it seems! It’s less than a month away and if you consider a week ahead to mail cards, we have even less time! Think about how much fun making valentines were in elementary school with the construction paper, doilies, and paste! Now we have much better materials to use! Order what you need now so you have plenty of time for Valentine-making fun!

Sunshine & Rainbows Daisy Card

Sunshine & Rainbows Daisy Card

The other side of this paper is the pattern I used the other day on a card with the bright and cheerful sunshine and rainbows. But when I happened to look at this other side, the sunshine images made me think of daisies! I hadn’t used my Daisy Punch in a long time!

This card has a Basic White card base, not really visible in this photo. I layered the Sunshine & Rainbows Designer Paper on the card base. Remember, you can earn this paper FREE during Sale-A-Bration with a $50 Stampin’ Up! purchase!

The daisy is made with both daisy punches, the Daisy Punch and the smaller Medium Daisy Punch. I punched one large daisy and two of the smaller and layered them in a staggered fashion. The largest daisy is adhered directly to the card, the smaller two are popped up with Stampin’ Dimensionals®. I used my retired 1/2″ Circle Punch to punch out a piece of the same designer paper for the flower center and also added one of the small Elegant Faceted Gems to the center.

The greeting is from the Encircled in Friendship Stamp Set. I simply stamped it on a scrap strip of Basic White I already had in Bumblebee Ink. Then I punched the banner ends using the point of the Tailored Tag Punch. This greeting is popped up on Stampin’ Dimensionals also. For a finishing touch, I added two of the Brushed Brass Butterflies. I love these because they are so dainty and delicate and FLAT so no problem mailing them!

That’s the story of this card that I never dreamed I was going to make! You never know what kind of inspiration might strike! Even if you don’t know exactly what to make, just get out your supplies and see what pops up!

Awesome Otters Fish Birthday Card

Awesome Otters Fish Birthday Card

Make a fun birthday card for a fisherman, like this Awesome Otters Fish Birthday Card! This whimsical otter is swimming and having fun while catching a fish right in his paws! Perfect for the fisherman in your life! The best part is you can earn this Awesome Otters Stamp Set FREE during Sale-A-Bration this month and next with a $50 Stampin’ Up! purchase!

This card has just a Basic White card base with a layer of this paper that kind of suggests water in the Sunshine & Rainbows 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper, another freebie during Sale-A-Bration you could choose! The Basic White textured rectangle was in with my paper and seemed like the right size I could use on this card. It was die cut with one of the Stitched Rectangle Dies and then embossed with the Tasteful Textile Embossing Folder.

To make it look like the otter is swimming in the water in a pond, perhaps, I die cut the center of that embossed piece with the largest die in the Tasteful Labels Dies. I popped this piece up with Stampin’ Dimensionals®.

The otter is stamped with Memento Ink and colored in with Stampin’ Blends markers. I used Soft Suede on the otter with Crumb Cake for his middle. The fish was colored with a couple of different colors so make yours whatever colors you like if you know what a certain fish looks like! I also stamped and colored in the little birthday hat. The otter and his birthday hat are then cut out and popped up on Dimensionals “in the water”.

The greeting is in the stamp set and is die cut with another of the Tasteful Labels Dies. I adhered a small little bow made with the Linen Thread. On the inside of the card, I stamped a birthday greeting from another set and also stamped another otter, the one who is swimming, in the lower corner in Pool Party ink.

And to make the water sparkle a bit, I added some Iridescent Rhinestone Basic Jewels. Whatever card you make, just have fun with these Awesome Otters!

Sunshine & Rainbows Brighten Your Day Card

I thought I would make just a simple, bright, and happy card using this cute designer paper available during Sale-A-Bration, and here is my Sunshine & Rainbows Brighten Your Day Card! Now I did make it a little more complicated than it needed to be by layering the greeting the way I did, but I often make things more complicated!

Today I wanted to showcase something you can get FREE during Sale-A-Bration which is one of Stampin’ Up!’s biggest promotions of the year! (And now we even have two Sale-A-Brations each year!) It’s the Sunshine and Rainbows 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper on page 8 of the Sale-A-Bration Brochure. It coordinates with the Rainbow of Happiness Bundle in the Spring Mini Catalog on page 18. Buy the Bundle and save 10% over buying the Rainbow of Happiness Stamp Set and the Brilliant Rainbow Dies separately. Even if you don’t have the stamp set and dies, you can use this very cheery rainbow paper to make lovely cards and projects!

As I said, I wanted this card to be bright and happy so I checked the colors that coordinate with the paper. I chose So Saffron cardstock for the card base and layered it with Melon Mambo for a little extra pizzazz in color on which to layer the designer paper. I love this sheet with the sunshine and the rainbows just jumping right out at you! How could you not feel good making this card for someone and think about how happy they will be to find it in their mailbox! Especially these days, we know we could all use some extra pick-me-ups, and certainly, a card in the mail is one of the best!

The greeting is in the Rainbow of Happiness Stamp Set and I stamped that in Melon Mambo ink. Then I die cut it with that cute frilly circle in the Tasteful Labels Dies. Then came my dilemma that made this more complicated! What did I want to layer the greeting on to make it stand out better from the bold background? I made several different die cuts and wasn’t totally happy with any one of them. Plus I felt a little adventurous, wanting to use the striped side of one of the papers in the pack. But then would that stand out from the background or add more busy-ness? Finally, I die cut a piece of Melon Mambo cardstock, cut it in half, and then adhered it so it would just peek out at the top and bottom of the layer under the greeting. This is the die in the Painted Labels Dies. But the striped paper is also cut with a different die in the same Painted Labels Dies set!

Of course, since this was to be a bright and happy card, I had to add some sparkle to the card. I added three pink jewels to the greeting from the 2021-2023 In Color Jewels. Even if the colors are not an exact match, these jewels seem to suit the purpose many times because the colors still seem to match or coordinate with even different colors! And I couldn’t stop, I had to add some of the yellow ones to the background of the card!

In the photo below you can see a closeup of the greeting and see how the pieces are layered. As I always say, just keep playing and you will come up with a combination that works!

Enjoy these two months of Sale-A-Bration! With every $50 you spend, you get to choose a FREE Sale-A-Bration product in the brochure! No limits! Spend $100 and have the choice of a special $100 Level product or go ahead and get two $50 Level products! Your choice! Happy Shopping!

Sweet Little Boxes For Valentine’s Day

Sweet Little Boxes For Valentine's Day

Be sure to not overlook these cute boxes in the Spring Mini Catalog that I used on this Sweet Little Boxes For Valentine’s Day. These boxes are great because they are food safe and come scored and even have adhesive strips on the sides of the box! All you have to do is fold on the score lines, pull the paper strip off the adhesive (like Tear & Tape), and adhere the sides of the box. Just one end opens. Then decorate!! They store flat, of course, until you need them.

Sweet Little Boxes Flat

It would be great to keep a stash of these boxes on hand because they can be decorated for any occasion. Just add some candy treats, tea bags, small tags or cards, a small gift, whatever fits! Right now we are thinking of Valentine’s Day treats but these could be for Halloween or birthdays or Easter!

On this box, I just wrapped around a piece of designer paper, the cute Sweet Talk Designer Series Paper. First I just wrapped the paper around and creased it with my fingers on each edge of the box. Then I took it off and folded it on those creased lines making sure the paper stayed straight. You could also score it with your Paper Trimmer but I didn’t find that necessary. You just don’t want to measure first and then score without wrapping around the box or it might turn out to be too tight of a fit. My paper was cut at 3 3/8″ x 7″. That wrapped around with enough margin to place Stampin’ Seal Adhesive on the overlapping edge.

You could use any of the pretty patterns in the Sweet Talk Designer Paper. I chose this one with the lines of little hearts. I die cut the tag shape in the Sweet Hearts Dies from Basic White cardstock. I wanted it to show up a little better, so I adhered the Basic White tag onto Real Red cardstock and simply cut around with Paper Snips following the shape. It doesn’t have to be perfect!

From another sheet of the Sweet Talk paper with the candy prints, I cut out the heart-shaped lollipop and a couple of the small candies. I wouldn’t do this if I was making multiples of the box! It would be a little too tedious! But I loved the candy sheet of paper and wanted to use it as decorations on my box! I glued those flat onto the tag and then popped the tag up with Stampin’ Dimensionals®. I tied a small red bow with the Real Red Faux Linen Ribbon and adhered that to the top of the tag with Mini Glue Dots.

You could just add a heart and a greeting to make a simple decoration. There are so many ways to decorate these boxes and it is so easy to do! Order several packs and keep them on hand whether you are making Sweet Little Boxes For Valentine’s Day or other occasions!

Sweet Talk Valentine’s Day Card With Tags

Sweet Talk Valentine's Day Card with Tags

Believe it or not, as I’m putting away my Christmas decorations, Valentine’s Day is not so far off, only a month away so here is my first Valentine sample card, Sweet Talk Valentine’s Day Card With Tags. I started this card by simply looking through the very cute Sweet Talk 12″ x 12″ Designer Series Paper and picking out one paper I especially liked. I liked a lot of them, probably all of them!

I decided to place the designer paper on the Real Red card base in a slightly different way. I cut it as wide as the card (4 1/4″) but only 4 1/2″ long. If you place it in the center of the card front, this leaves a 1/2″ margin at the top and bottom of the card. Just something a little different! Before you adhere any designer paper, think about if you want the ribbon to wrap around to the back or whatever else.

While trying to decide what else to do with the card, I looked at the Sweet Hearts Dies and got the idea to use the tag die in there. I decided to die cut and stamp three tags and then sort of string them across the card with some ribbon. I used the Sweet Conversations Stamp Set. You can get the stamp set and dies in the Sweet Conversations Bundle. I stamped a different heart, color, and saying on each one. I used Granny Apple Green, Pool Party, and Real Red outline with a Blushing Bride pink heart. The hearts are two-step stamping. Stamp the outline and words, the stamp the solid heart to fill in if you like.

I used the Real Red Faux Linen Ribbon to string the hearts together and adhered the ribbon around on the back of the designer paper before adhering the paper to the card base. I used Stampin’ Dimensionals® under each tag to hold it in place but you could let them dangle if you wanted to! I also tied a separate bow and adhered it to the top of the middle tag with Mini Glue Dots.

The greeting at the bottom is also in that stamp set. I just stamped it in Real Red ink on a scrap strip of Basic White and also stamped the little flower design on each end. The strip is layered on Real Red just 1/4″ wider and then made the banner ends with the Tailored Tag Punch.

For the grand finale, I had to add some of the new Iridescent Rhinestones Basic Jewels, one on each flower at the end of the greeting and one on each heart on the tags! They look prettier in person than they do on the photo!

When you are trying to think of a card design, just pull out some designer paper and see what speaks to you and see what you come up with! Some ideas will come to you for sure, even if they are simple!

Start thinking about Valentine’s Day because it is only a month away!!

Rainbow of Happiness Card

Rainbow of Happiness Card

This Rainbow of Happiness Card is sure to brighten someone’s day and probably even yours as you make it! This Rainbow of Happiness Bundle is sure to be a popular item in the Spring Mini Catalog. There are so many different ways you can use the coordinating products.

I didn’t think this was going to be one of my best cards because I still don’t have my mojo back since Christmas and everything is still out of place since decorating! Plus the light I use for photographing my cards has konked out so I see some weird orange shadows underneath the popped-up clouds on this card! Even my coffee maker has broken, so what can you do?!

Even though this isn’t one of my best cards, I ended up thinking it was okay. This was my first try with this card and dies and I found out things didn’t match up the way I envisioned! But it proves you can kind of do your own thing with these stamps since they are photopolymer. They can be stretched a bit into the size or shape you want. You still want to be careful and not overdo it, but these stamps in particular can be maneuvered a little bit!

The card base is Basic White with a Flirty Flamingo cardstock layer. I decided to emboss this layer with the new Gingham Embossing Folder mainly to try it out and see how it looked.

The rainbow is stamped with the Rainbow of Happiness Stamp Set. I was slightly trying to copy the card sample on page 18 in the Spring Mini. I haven’t watched any videos yet on how people use these stamps and dies so I was just winging it! I used the four individual rainbow arcs on one large block (the largest one!) expecting to cut out the rainbow with the dies, but the dies were small, much to my surprise! But it was okay, I just cut out the rainbow with my scissors! To ink up the rainbow, I used my Stampin’ Write markers in Highland Heather, Petal Pink, Pool Party and Flirty Flamingo. (Flirty Flamingo is one of the Brights colors.) I just colored each marker on the parts of the rainbow and breathed on the stamps before stamping. Even though I tried to “prime” the new photopolymer stamps a few times first, using the markers, which are usually lighter anyway using this technique, the stamped rainbow came out a little sketchy! So I just used the markers themselves to lightly color over the rainbow. I intended to color over the rainbow with my Wink of Stella Brush, but that is old and not working right either! A new one is on my next order!

I used the sentiment in the stamp set to stamp the greeting right on the rainbow using Calypso Coral Ink. I like the way that looks! I wanted something that would coordinate well but not blend into the same colors of the rainbow.

To add some layers behind the rainbow, I die cut a piece of Mint Macaron cardstock with one of the Scalloped Contours Dies. Then I liked the look of a certain paper in the Sunshine and Rainbows 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper. You can earn this paper FREE during Sale-A-Bration with a $50 purchase. It’s very cute! Be sure you get it soon so you can use it with this Rainbow of Happiness Bundle. I die cut the paper with the same size Scalloped Contours Die but then I trimmed off the scallops so it would fit inside the stitching on the Mint Macaron die cut piece. I adhered those two layers together and adhered that piece to the card.

I don’t own the Cloud Punch yet (unless it is hidden under some other messes!) so I just cut out my own clouds so my card would look somewhat like the sample in the catalog I was copying. There are also cloud dies in the Brillliant Rainbow Dies in the Bundle.

The rainbow is popped up on Stampin’ Dimensionals® but you need to think about where the clouds are going to go underneath the rainbow if you are copying this idea and place the Dimensionals so they are out of the way if you are going to stick a cloud underneath! Both of my clouds are also popped up on Dimensionals. I also used a piece of the Glittered White Organdy Ribbon to tuck underneath.

For a finishing touch, I had to use the new Iridescent Rhinestones Basic Jewels. I placed three of the smallest jewels right on the rainbow and then two larger ones outside the rainbow. These are really pretty!

So there you have my first rainbow card! I’m looking forward to making more, hopefully, a little better, but as I said, I ended up being happy with this card! Sometimes you just have to keep working and the right design will eventually magically appear!

Have fun shopping the new Spring Mini!
