Oldies But Goodies For St. Patrick’s Day!

A Fun St. Patrick's Day Card Idea

This is an oldie but goodie for St. Patrick’s Day! I thought maybe you’d enjoy seeing some past projects for St. Patrick’s Day that you can make with something you already have in your stash or substitute something new to update it!

This first card at the top is made with the fabulously popular Owl Punch from at least seven years ago! If you were around then and have the Owl Punch you know how many things creative people came up with to make with it, such as this little leprechaun! Click the photo or click HERE to go to that blog post.

St. Patrick's Day Gift Bag and Tag

This little gift bag and tag would be easy to duplicate with current products. Just make a little 2-4-6-8 bag and then a tag. Make a black pot with whatever you have and add some gold sequins for gold coins!

St. Patrick's Day Bloomin' Love Heart Card

This card I made with the beautiful Bloomin’ Heart Thinlit Die back in 2016! That’s going back aways to when we had “thinlit” dies! I loved this die, though, and it was great for wedding cards and other occasions, especially if we made it with glimmer paper. This one I colored with green ink (Cucumber Crush! Remember that?) and an Aqua Painter. If you don’t have this thinlit, cut out your own paper heart in green and decorate with a few flowers for a nice St. Pat’s card.

St. Patrick's Day Glittery Shamrocks Card

This is an easy St. Patrick’s Day card to duplicate! Just cut out or punch out some hearts and a stem to make shamrocks and put a happy greeting on it. Do a little splattering with ink or markers.

If you are Irish or just celebrating anyway,

have a Happy St. Patrick’s Day!

Regency Park St. Patrick’s Day Card

Regency Park St. Patrick's Day Card

Happy St. Patrick’s Day!

Today is St. Patrick’s Day for those of you who celebrate! Instead of making an “official” St. Patrick’s Day card, I made this card with lots of green and even a touch of gold! And the greeting could be for someone you are giving the card to on St. Patrick’s Day!

This is about a five-minute card!! The card base is Shaded Spruce cardstock which matches the Regency Park 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper in the Spring Mini Catalog. All I had to do was make the card base, cut the designer paper 5 1/4″ x 4″, and glue it on with Stampin’ Seal. The greeting is stamped with a stamp in the Inspired Thoughts Stamp Set in Shaded Spruce ink on Basic White. Then it was diecut with a Deckled Rectangle Die.

For a little embellishment, I decided to use the new Gold & Silver 1/8″ Trim Combo Pack. It is one of the Online Exclusives products in the Stampin’ Up! Online Store. I just got it and I can say the gold is really bright and shiny!

So if I run into somebody today to whom I wanted to give a St. Patrick’s Day card to, I think this one would be somewhat appropriate! Otherwise, I can use it for a birthday or some other occasion!

Celebrate in your green today and enjoy your special day!

St. Patrick’s Day Shamrock Card With Hearts

St. Patrick's Day Shamrock Card With Hearts

If you are looking for a card for St. Patrick’s Day, which is tomorrow, this St. Patrick’s Day Shamrock Card With Hearts card may give you an idea. It certainly wasn’t my first idea, but after several failures of what I thought was going to be an easy idea, I came up with this and I like it a lot! In fact, I believe you could give it to anybody for any occasion where you wanted to wish them some luck!

The card base is Garden Green cardstock, and the front is stamped with the Hand-Drawn Dots background stamp. It’s the first time I’ve used it! It’s in the Spring Mini Catalog on page 28. I must have seen some cute idea that I had to have it for, but who knows now what that was! Anyway, it’s a good background stamp to have just for a little interest and pizzazz! You can make it as bold or as subtle as you like by using different colors or even stamping off for a very light image. I need to play with it more!

I cut the center layers smaller so the dotted background would still show a little bit. The designer paper I used is in the Hues of Happiness package in the Annual Catalog and is on the opposite side of one of the floral patterns. I cut it so that mostly the green area would show. This designer paper is cut at 3 1/4″ x 4 1/4″. Then I used a piece of Daffodil Delight cardstock for a layer under that to help it stand out. It is cut at 3 1/2″ x 4 1/2″.

The shamrock for St. Patrick’s Day is made of three hearts. I originally planned to just punch out three hearts out of Garden Green cardstock, but these look a lot more interesting. I used the Country Bouquet Stamp Set and Garden Green ink on Garden Green cardstock. I punched out the hearts with the Country Bouquet Punch. (This punch is due back in stock around April 17th.) The stem I just cut myself. The hearts are popped up on Stampin’ Dimensionals®.

For a little gold, I embossed the greeting with Gold Embossing Powder and the Heat Tool. The greeting is in the Country Bouquet Stamp Set and as I said, with a simple greeting like this, I think you can use this card on a day other than St. Patrick’s Day. If you want a stamp set that is “officially” for St. Pat’s, the Lucky Clover Stamp Set is perfect for you!

And for just a little more gold, I used my new package of the Gold Faceted Adhesive-Backed Sequins. You get little moon shapes, some large teardrop shapes, and two sizes of circle sequins. You’ll find these on page 43 in the Spring Mini Catalog.

Whether you are Irish or not, have fun making a little something for St. Patrick’s Day with some heart shamrocks!

St. Patrick’s Day Glittery Shamrocks Card

St. Patrick's Day Glittery Shamrocks Card

Happy St. Patrick’s Day! I had several other ideas for St. Patrick’s Day cards but ended up with this St. Patrick’s Day Glittery Shamrocks Card. I think it is so fun to make a shamrock with hearts! I knew I had several kinds of glimmery paper so I thought I would use that somehow!

This is just a simple card, just some die-cutting involved. If you don’t have any heart dies you can use a heart punch or just cut them out by hand. I used the Sweet Hearts Dies in the Spring Mini Catalog to die cut all the glittery hearts. I used the Rainbow Glimmer Paper. I had just enough greenish edge scraps to die cut all my hearts! This paper is so fun!

The card base is Granny Apple Green, which is one of the coordinating colors with the Rainbow Glimmer Paper. The layer is Basic White. Before I glued on the shamrocks, I randomly stamped the dots in the Color & Contour Stamp Set with Granny Apple Green ink. The stems of the shamrocks are just cut out by hand, tiny little strips of green.

I looked through a lot of stamp sets and decided on the word “Celebrate” in the Celebrate Sunflowers Stamp Set. I didn’t want to stamp the whole thing so I just used the Granny Apple Green Stampin’ Write Marker in the Brights family to color only the word I wanted and then stamped. I just stamped it on a Basic White scrap, trimmed it down and adhered it to another scrap of the greenish Rainbow Glimmer Paper.

For even more glitter and glimmer, I decided to add some kind of rhinestones or jewels. I decided to try the Evening Evergreen green jewels in the 2021-23 In Color Jewels. They don’t show up in the photo but in the right light, they are green rhinestones!

Don’t forget to wear green today and have fun celebrating St. Patrick’s Day!

A Shamrock Card For St. Patrick’s Day

St. Patrick’s Day is coming up this week so if you want to make a card for someone, you might want to try something like this Shamrock Card For St. Patrick’s Day!

It’s fun and easy to make shamrocks with hearts! You can stamp hearts together, punch hearts, die cut hearts, cut out hearts – whatever you like! Then just put three of them together and add a stem and you have a shamrock!

Shamrocks are a symbol of Ireland and was used by St. Patrick, Ireland’s patron saint, to represent the Holy Trinity in the Christian religion. Shamrocks are clover, but they must have three leaves to be a shamrock. If there are more or less leaves, the it is a clover and not a shamrock. See, you learn something new everyday!

To make this shamrock on this card, I started with dies, but I wasn’t happy with the sizes. Then I remembered we had two heart punches in a Heart Punch Pack! One is a little larger and has a scalloped edge and the other is plain and is a bit smaller so you can layer it on the scalloped heart.

After looking over the greens, I chose Just Jade Cardstock for the green color of the card. The card base is Just Jade with a layer of Basic White. I punched three scalloped hearts from Just Jade. Just Jade is one of the current In Colors and I like it but haven’t used it much.

For the heart layer, I decided to choose the polka dot pattern paper in the True Love Designer Series Paper. After punching out with the plain heart punch, I colored the heart with both the Light and Dark Just Jade Stampin’ Blend markers. This provides a little interest against the solid heart layer underneath. You could even use the floral pattern on the reverse side for something really different! I almost did that! The shamrock stem is just cut by hand from a scrap.

Before gluing down the shamrock, I stamped a few confetti images with Just Jade Ink around on the Basic White layer. In adhering the shamrock, I glued down the two side petals with Stampin’ Seal and then popped up the top one just for fun with Stampin’ Dimensionals®. The greeting is in the Itty Bitty Greetings Stamp Set and is punched out with the retired 1″ Circle Punch that I have. I put a Dimensional under the bottom portion of the circle so that it would be even with that popped up heart shamrock petal. And for a little gold for St. Patrick’s Day, I added a few Gilded Gems.

You can use this card for inspiration or maybe this card from last year using stamped hearts. Wednesday, March 17 this week is St. Patrick’s Day if you plan to do a little celebrating!

St. Pat’s Day Shamrock Heart Punch Card

St. Pat's Day Shamrock Heart Punch Card

To celebrate St. Patrick’s Day, maybe you want to make card something like this St. Pat’s Day Shamrock Heart Punch Card. You’re probably not going out to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day today so you might as well STAMP! I think this card could even be one to send someone any time because hearts are good at any time whether they are making up shamrocks or just a leafy plant!

I started with a card base of Old Olive and a layer of Whisper White. I didn’t even know exactly what I was going to make except that it had to be green for St. Pat’s. I settled on using the Heart Punch with the scalloped edge in the Heart Punch Pack. You get two punches in this pack, a plain edge heart and a scalloped edge heart. As a bonus, you can layer the hearts! You can use hearts any time, not just for Valentine’s Day or St. Patrick’s Day! You will find them in the Occasions Mini Catalog.

For something more interesting, I looked through my designer paper until I found a “solid” green I could use. I found this green in the Perennial Essence Designer Series Paper. Don’t forget to look at the backsides of the pretty patterned papers! Often there is something very interesting on both sides of the designer paper! I punched three hearts out of this paper and just cut a little curved strip for the stem. Although the paper color is basically a solid green, you can see that there are color variations in it that make it interesting and appealing! I think this greenery can be any kind of leafy plant with heart-shaped leaves!

For pizzazz, I dug out some gold sequins and clustered them in the center of the plant rather than placing them around on the card. I liked that look. The greeting is stamped in Old Olive ink from the Heartfelt Stamp Set. This stamp set can also be used for more than Valentine’s Day so you might want to grab it during Sale-A-Bration.

You probably can’t go out to the “pubs” today to celebrate, but if you are staying home you can celebrate by stamping or creating a St. Patrick’s Day project like this St. Pat’s Day Shamrock Heart Punch Card!

Happy St. Patrick’s Day!

St. Patrick’s Day Shamrock Card

St. Patrick's Day Shamrock Card

Get those heart stamps out again and let’s stamp a St. Patrick’s Day Shamrock Card! Heart stamps are good for lots of things besides Valentine’s Day and now you see how you can use them for St. Patrick’s Day. You can use any heart stamps you have for different looking shamrocks.

For this shamrock card, I started with a base of Call Me Clover Cardstock. This cardstock is one of the current In Colors that will be retiring in May before the new In Colors come in. These In Colors have had their two-year run. If you need any of them, refills, ribbons, anything with these In Colors, it would be smart to order them now before people rush to get them at retirement time. And if you order in March, you can take advantage of Sale-A-Bration.

It was fun to basically “just stamp” on this card! I used the Heartfelt Stamp Set in the Occasions Mini Catalog. Just stamp four of the hearts to make a shamrock, or I have seen just 3 heart leaves to make a shamrock also. It’s easier than it used to be now that we have photopolymer stamps that you can see through. For the stem, I simply used a Blender Pen and picked up some of the Call Me Clover ink in the lid of the ink pad and drew on the stem. You could use a marker or just cut a thin stem.

Instead of just stamping a greeting on some kind of layer, I decided to just stamp the sentiment randomly in between the shamrocks on the card front. The “Have a Lucky Day” phrase is from the Itty Bitty Greetings Stamp Set. That’s such a great set to own because you can almost always find a good sentiment to use for your card.

Of course, I wanted to have a little gold on my card for St. Patrick’s Day so I chose the Gold Glitter Enamel Dots. You will find these in the Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalog back in the Embellishments section. First I just put small dots around randomly on the card, but then I also thought the center of each shamrock could use a larger gold one. You could also color a dot with a marker to match the shamrock, but I liked the gold in this case.

This card was very simple to make, quick and easy. Plus a good way to use our heart stamps! Don’t think of your heart stamp sets for just Valentine’s Day, keep them handy for other occasions like this St. Patrick’s Day Shamrock Card with St. Patrick’s Day coming up on March 17th!

St. Patrick’s Day Clear Tiny Treat Box

St. Patrick's Day Clear Tiny Treat Box

If you need an easy little treat for St. Patrick’s Day, you can’t go wrong with this St. Patrick’s Day Clear Tiny Treat Box. Even if you don’t have the box or don’t want to make one out of paper, you could use a cello bag of some kinds. What is more St. Patrick’s Day than green and gold?

The Clear Tiny Treat Boxes are great to have on hand. You can put candy inside or a small gift or even just a special note. Best yet, they store flat so don’t take up space so all you have to do is crease and assemble when you need one! Just remember to remove the piece of plastic on them that protects the finish!

I think stamping is so much fun because you can use other images to make something else. If you don’t have a shamrock stamp (and most people wouldn’t!), just use hearts! You can stamp and cut out four hearts or in this project, I just stamped the Call Me Clover green hearts together in a shamrock shape. I just eyeballed it and they didn’t come out perfect meeting in the center but can you even tell? No, because I covered the center with a Gold Faceted Gem. These are sparkly and pretty. For a beginner stamper, a few of these kinds of embellishments are good to have on hand. They aren’t very expensive and serve (sometimes!) to cover up any little boo boo, stray ink, or smudge or at least direct the eye away from it! My little heart stamp is from the Meant To Be Cling Stamp Set. I told you hearts weren’t just for Valentine’s Day! The little stem is just hand cut from a scrap.

The shamrock is layered on a piece of Gold Foil, die cut from a scalloped Layering Circle Framelits Die. Lucky for me, I could fit it all on the front of the Tiny Treat Box! The greeting is from the must-have set, Itty Bitty Greetings. This set comes with 32 stamps and greetings to cover most any occasion. They are small which means they usually fit in the Classic Label Punch so they are easy to use. I cut a flagged end on the tag and stuck it under the shamrock with a little bit of glue.

After you put in your treat, green candy is good for St. Pat’s, tie a ribbon around the box to make sure the lid stays closed and mostly just to fancy it up a little bit more. This is the Gold 3/8″ Metallic-Edge Ribbon, a great all-purpose ribbon to have on hand. The gold edge makes it just a little bit fancy.

The Clear Tiny Treat Boxes are something inexpensive you can add to your order if you are trying to reach a $50 increment on your Sale-A-Bration order to earn a free product! Remember, with a $100 purchase you may choose either TWO $50 Sale-A-Bration items or ONE $100 Sale-A-Bration item. Spending $150 gets you the choices above plus another $50 choice PLUS Stampin’ Rewards (another 10% in merchandise!). And for big spenders (I mean, crafters), a $250 order gets you all the appropriate Sale-A-Bration choices plus Stampin’ Rewards, PLUS an EXTRA $25 in Stampin’ Rewards! That’s a lot of good stuff!

Make something like this St. Patrick’s Day Clear Tiny Treat Box this weekend for a little St. Pat’s fun, maybe with your kids or grandkids!
