Get the December Paper Pumpkin Kit For Some Laughs

Paper Pumpkin Dec 2021 Lots of Pun Banner1

Here’s the new Paper Pumpkin Kit, Lots of Fun, coming mid-December to your mailbox! Several years ago when we were in Austin visiting our son, he took us to this pun festival at the O. Henry Museum. It was an outdoor gathering listening to this spoken word competition of monologues and random topics given to the contestants. Very quirky, but that’s Austin! If you like to groan at puns, this is the place for you! It actually was kind of fun!

What’s not to “loaf” about a punny joke? It never hurts to have a little laughter, light-heartedness, and humor sprinkled into your schedule. If you’re a fan of fun, get a kick out of clever crafts, and can’t keep it together when you hear a classic knee-slapper, you’ll go bananas over this month’s cute ‘n’ quirky kit!

The Lots of Pun Paper Pumpkin Kit includes enough egg-citing elements to create nine cards and coordinating envelopes. From giddy gingham to splatters and stripes, this playful Paper Pumpkin kit features a fun and fresh look with one-of-a-kind patterns and designs! “Egg-cellent” for any occasion, reason, or season throughout the year, the kit’s pun-packed stamp set provides completely customizable characters for a very versatile crafting experience. Pair each stamp with its matching die-cut snack, then mix up the faces and accessories for an absolutely adorable accent! Pick up your friends and family with pun-filled projects. December’s delightful kit is sure to make ‘em smile!

Embossed and Colored Whimsical Trees Christmas Card

Embossed and Colored Whimsical Trees Christmas Card

This card started out being an experiment of using white trees on a white layer on a white card, but it turned into this Embossed and Colored Whimsical Trees Christmas Card. That didn’t seem to be going like I imagined so I tried another technique of embossing and coloring the trees.

This white paper I used is my favorite, Shimmery White! If you look closely, in person, you can just barely see a little shimmer on the paper. It also works pretty well for a little watercoloring, as I used on this card. But the paper is so elegant, I think! I love using it.

To make this card, I started with a Shimmery White Cardstock card base with a layer of Shimmery White. On a separate piece of Shimmery White, I stamped two of the same trees and one different using Versamark Ink with the Whimsical Trees Stamp Set. Then I embossed with white embossing powder, which comes in the Basics Embossing Powders of three colors – white, black, and clear. You also need a Heat Tool to do embossing! Just hold the Heat Tool over the powder until you see it change! You will notice and it’s just magical! But it may take a minute until the Heat Tool gets hot enough after you turn it on.

After embossing the trees I die-cut them with the Christmas Trees Dies. I also die-cut the little ribbon decoration you can add to the tree. I cut out two of those for two of the trees. If you can think of it, this would be a good time to use the Adhesive Sheets so you don’t have to use glue.

After I decided the pure white trees on a white card weren’t going to work, I decided to use my Water Painter to add green color using an ink refill in the lid of the ink pad. Use it like a paintbrush except the water is already inside! Love these! I used Pear Pizzazz on two of the trees and Just Jade on the center tree. The embossing resists the ink so it still shows through. You can take a tissue and wipe any excess off the embossing if you need to. You could use any two or three green colors that you like. We have lots of choices!

When the trees were dry, I glued the ribbon piece onto two of the trees with tiny drops of glue.

For the background of the card, I used a watercolor background of Pool Party. I tried to apply it lightly with lots of water squeezed out of the Water Painter and a little bit of ink. I didn’t bring it all the way to the bottom so it would look like snow on the bottom of the card. Then I stamped a greeting with Just Jade ink at the bottom of the card with the Whimsical Trees Stamp Set.

After coloring the background and letting it dry, I adhered the trees, two popped up with Stampin’ Dimensionals and one flat on the card. I usually like to slip one partially underneath another one.

It was absolutely necessary (to me!) to add some bling but you could totally not do this. I added a few of the greenish rhinestones in the Holiday Rhinestones. You could add them to the trees instead if you liked.

So all in all, even though I changed my original idea, I really like this card and maybe I will make extras to send. It’s time to start cranking out those Christmas cards so that you can mail them extra early this year! Have fun!

Tidings and Trimmings Gold Star Christmas Card

Tidings and Trimmings Gold Star Christmas Card

I was a little slow in discovering the Tidings and Trimmings Bundle in the Annual Catalog, but when I saw the die-cut stars I thought maybe I had to have it! I like how this Tidings and Trimmings Gold Star Christmas Card turned out even though I thought I was going to use a Christmas stocking and not the star! You never know where your card will end up!

First I got out the Tidings of Christmas 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper. There are a lot of pretty, traditional holiday designs in this paper. I happened to choose a scrap strip that just needed to be trimmed a little to fit on the Basic White layer. The card base is Cherry Cobbler which coordinates with the designer paper.

Before I ever got to try out a stocking on the front of the card, I decided to try a gold star. I love the designs of the large and smaller stars in the Christmas Tidings Dies. Just die cut the star using the outline around it. If you are smart, this is the perfect opportunity to use the Adhesive Sheets! I really wish I remembered to use these more often before die-cutting, particularly when it is an intricate design. Besides making it easy to adhere the image with the adhesive already on the back, but when you pull off the adhesive backing, it pulls out the stubborn little pieces that had not come out of the die-cut piece yet!

The greeting is stamped in Cherry Cobbler Ink at the bottom, slightly off to the right, on the front of the card. The greeting is in the Tidings and Trimmings Stamp Set. This is a great stamp set with its nice artwork and good sayings and words to put on your cards. You can purchase the Tidings and Trimmings Stamp Set and the Christmas Tidings Dies together in the Tidings and Trimmings Bundle and save 10%.

For a little extra embellishment, I tied on a piece of Cherry Cobbler & Gold 1/2″ Ribbon with just a knot. I think the gold trim on the ribbon goes with the gold star.

Once the card was all put together, I was really happy with it On the inside, I stamped another greeting and adhered a small die-cut gold star. At the Onstage Event this past weekend, Shelli and Sara reminded us not to send “naked envelopes”! If you want to make this card extra-special, stamp something on the envelope or use some of the designer paper to decorate the envelope flap! Just have fun with it!

Blessings of Home Birthday Card

Blessings of Home Birthday Card

This weekend we Stampin’ Up! Demonstrators got to enjoy attending the OnStage Stampin’ Up! event….virtually! If we wanted to, we could preorder a few products so we could stamp along during the event presentations. This Blessings of Home Birthday Card uses some of those new products that will be coming in January in the January-June 2022 Mini Catalog! We got to view the new catalog plus the Sale-A-Bration Brochure also coming in January 2022! If you would like to be a Demonstrator and get in on some of this fun, consider joining now during the special Starter Kit offer during November!

This card uses the new Blessings of Home Stamp Set along with the new Heart & Home Designer Series Paper. I started with a card base of Cinnamon Cider and layered that with a piece of Pale Papaya cardstock. I chose this pattern with the foliage and bumblebees on it and layered that on the Pale Papaya.

The flower bouquet is stamped in Cinnamon Cider ink on Basic White cardstock. I wanted to make it kind of a monochromatic card although it’s not really that. It kind of has the look, though! I only stamped the flowers, I didn’t try to color anything in. This stamp set has a lot of details already designed into the stamp. I die cut the flowers with the die in the Flowers of Home Dies.

The greeting is stamped in Cinnamon Cider Ink on really a scrap of Pale Papaya that happened to be laying there! This sentiment is also in the Blessings of Home Stamp Set. I flagged the ends using the Tailored Tag Punch. This punch is so useful for punching into those ends of cardstock to cut out that little notch to make it look like a banner or flag!

The flower die-cut piece is popped up on Stampin’ Dimensionals onto a Pale Papaya scalloped rectangle in the Scalloped Contours Dies. The birthday greeting is laid across the stem with a Dimensional on each end of the strip so that it fits over the popped up flower.

For some bling, I added three of the new Classic Matte Dots in white. Then I remembered the Bumblebee Trinkets that we already have and just had to add one bumblebee to the card! If I hadn’t already popped up the flower, I could have adhered the bumblebee right on the flower bouquet instead of off to the side, but if you get too many layers popped up the embellishments might not make it through the mail! I think the Bumblebee Trinkets will be really cute with this paper!

That’s it! Pretty easy card to make and certainly lots of fun ahead with this new paper and stamping with the new floral stamps! We have to get through the holidays first, but once January hits, you know we will be ready for some fresh new products!

Festive Foliage Merry Christmas Card

Festive Foliage Merry Christmas Card

You may think that this card, the Festive Foliage Merry Christmas Card, has lots of stamping on it, but it is really only ONE stamp! The stamp is Festive Foliage! I have to admit, it is one stamp that I really overlooked in the Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalog. You’ll find it on page 90 in the lower-left corner of the page. Very easy to miss! But when a few of my customers started ordering it, I wondered what the big deal was and started looking at some samples. Of course, then I had to have it, too! All that foliage will make some very pretty Christmas cards!

The card base is Shaded Spruce cardstock with a layer of Real Red. You wouldn’t have to add the red layer, but I love red and I think it brightens up the stamping and all the green. The foliage is stamped in Memento Ink on Basic White cardstock.

It’s really handy if you have a Stamparatus (146276) with a large stamp like this one. As long as you don’t move the stamp or the paper, you can reink the stamp and stamp again if you need to. Sometimes one little area doesn’t get inked well enough or doesn’t get pressed enough to transfer the ink from the stamp to the paper. But with the Stamparatus, you can just stamp again!

Stamparatus GIF

For coloring the foliage I used Stampin’ Blends…almost all the greens I could find! And then I dotted and colored in all the little berries with Real Red.

The greeting is in the Perfectly Plaid Stamp Set. This is one we have had for a couple of years. It is stamped with Real Red ink and then die cut with one of the Tasteful Labels Dies. It is popped up on Stampin’ Dimensionals. There was plenty of space and plenty of foliage still showing on this card to use such a large label. Then for some bling, I added two green Holiday Rhinestones and tied a bow with the Real Red 3/8″ Sheer Ribbon. It is adhered with a Glue Dot. I liked this sheer ribbon because it adds something to the card but because it is sheer, it doesn’t block the stamping underneath!

If you like coloring, you will love the Festive Foliage Stamp….and if you don’t love coloring, just stamp it in one color like green and don’t color in anything!

If you don’t own the Stamparatus, to get a good image with a background stamp like this one, I recommend laying the stamp face up, ink it up, and then lay your cardstock over the top. Put a piece of computer paper over the top or pull up your Grid paper over it, and give it a good rub with your fingers to get all the ink to transfer to the cardstock. This way you can see what you are doing and have a little more control over the pressure on the cardstock and stamp.

I can’t wait to make more cards with my new Festive Foliage Stamp because I really like how this Festive Foliage Merry Christmas Card turned out! Go check it out in the Online Store and see if you noticed it before in the catalog or missed it!

Encircled in Beauty Christmas Card

Encircled in Beauty Christmas Card

Don’t forget to think of the Encircled in Beauty Dies when it comes to making Christmas cards, as I used in this Encircled in Beauty Christmas Card. We also have the Encircled in Warmth Stamp Set with wonderful greetings for the holidays. There are so many pretty possibilities!

This card is relatively easy to make. The card base is Blushing Bride with a layer of Basic White Cardstock. I used the Encircled in Beauty Die to cut out the doily image but I did not use the outer die to cut out the whole image from the Basic White paper. Instead, I used the “negative” image left in the paper as the focal point, removing the center circle that was die cut. Next, I embossed the paper just for some texture with the Ornate Floral 3D Embossing Folder.

I layered this die-cut and embossed piece of Basic White on the Blushing Bride while I decided how to finish off the card. I decided to use the greeting in the Encircled in Warmth Stamp Set. It is stamped in Blushing Bride ink and die cut with one of the Stitched Rectangle Dies.

While looking at the beautiful Whimsy & Wonder Designer Series Paper I thought of cutting out one of the ornaments on the paper with Paper Snips and using it in the center of the doily image. I used a piece of the silver metallic thread from the Flowers For Every Season Ribbon Combo Pack. You could use any other kind of twine or ribbon. I wanted something very thin.

I popped up the Basic White die cut piece with Stampin’ Dimensionals® and also the ornament to look like it was hanging inside the empty circle. Then the greeting was adhered flat on the card front with Stampin’ Seal.

You will find the Encircled in Beauty Dies in the Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalog and you will find the Encircled in Warmth Stamp Set in the Holiday Mini Catalog. I think it might be easy to forget about these stamps and dies but they will make beautiful and unique cards, for Christmas and other occasions using the Encircled in Friendship Stamp Set also.

It’s time to plan your Christmas cards and gather your supplies to get a start on your holiday preparations! If you already own these Encircled in Beauty Dies, be sure to pull them out and use this Encircled in Beauty Christmas Card for some inspiration.

Little Delights Christmas Bulb Christmas Card

Little Delights Christmas Bulb Card

The longer I have the Little Delights Stamp Set, the more possibilities I see with it, like this Little Delights Christmas Bulb Christmas Card. All I needed was the little Christmas bulb stamp and the greeting! The only problem is that you can’t stop stamping the cute little bulbs!

The card base is Real Red with a layer of Basic White Cardstock. I just randomly stamped the Christmas bulbs in different colors. I used Real Red, Daffodil Delight, Just Jade, Pacific Point, Pumpkin Pie, and Highland Heather ink colors. After figuring out the greeting and the space it would take up, I added more bulbs so every color would have a good representation!

The die-cut greeting layer is Real Red cut from the Scalloped Contours Dies. I stamped the greeting from the Little Delights Stamp Set on Basic White and cut it to fit on the Real Red layer with my Paper Trimmer.

For some embellishment, I tied a little red bow from the Real Red 3/8″ Double-Stitched Satin Ribbon and adhered it to the corner of the greeting. I just love the font of that “Merry Christmas” sentiment! I also adhered some little Holiday Rhinestone Basic Jewels on the greeting as well!

If you wanted to jazz up the card even more, you could add Wink of Stella for a little glimmer of the Christmas bulbs! Or you could stamp fewer bulbs and connect them with a drawn line to look like a string of lights. Just play and see what you come up with!

The Little Delights Stamp Set is a cute one with several holiday images and greetings for cards and projects! These images and words are great for all kinds of stamping projects throughout the year!

Blackberry Beauty Happy Fall Card

Blackberry Beauty Happy Fall Card

This is another card, the Blackberry Beauty Happy Fall Card you could use to send to someone for Thanksgiving! Normally I don’t like cattywampus card designs like this one, with the papers at an angle, but somehow I liked it on this card! I never make cards like this! But the colors with the gold foil look rich and elegant and perfect for fall and Thanksgiving.

The card base is Cinnamon Cider, one of the In Colors for 2020-22. The designer paper is the Blackberry Beauty Specialty Designer Series Paper. I didn’t use one of the papers with gold foil, I used a “plainer” one with a foliage/floral design.

Next, I turned to the Blackberry Beauty Ephemera Pack for other design elements. I loved this pack (and so did a lot of other people because it has been hard to get and is back-ordered as I write this! Usually packs like this are all gold foil pieces but this one of laser cut pieces are paper with color and gold foil accents. I loved the flower (looks like Queen Anne’s Lace) but I wanted it to stand out more. I cut out a piece of Cinnamon Cider that would fit behind the frame you see. To make it more interesting, I embossed it with the Tasteful Texture Embossing Folder. It just gives it a little something extra.

The frame and the piece the greeting is stamped on are also in the Ephemera Pack. After playing around with all the pieces for a while, I settled on this “askew” design! As I said, I usually don’t care for that look but that is what pleased me in making this card! I stamped the little label piece using Cinnamon Cider ink and just used part of the greeting in the Banner Year Stamp Set. The frame is popped up with some foam strips, like Dimensionals. The flower is also popped up inside the frame.

While I can’t believe we are already into November, my Halloween decorations are put away and my Thanksgiving ones are out! If you want to mail cards or make little treats for Thanksgiving, now is the time to do it before we are full-blast into Christmas! Enjoy this fall season! Remember to change your clocks tonight/tomorrow back to Standard Time!

Blackberry Beauty Thanksgiving Card

Blackberry Beauty Thanksgiving Card

Can anyone believe it is November already? It’s time to put away the Halloween decorations, eat all the candy, and start thinking about Thanksgiving, so here is a Blackberry Beauty Thanksgiving Card to get you inspired!

This Blackberry Beauty Specialty Designer Series Paper is so beautiful that it has been hard to keep in stock. Every time Stampin’ Up! gets more in, it sells out again. Right now as I write this, this paper is not orderable but hopefully, they will get more in stock in about two weeks. I hope you already own this paper in the Holiday Mini Catalog so you can use it for fall and Thanksgiving projects!

It is very difficult to photograph this paper on a card. It has beautiful gold foil accents and the background is rather dark so the reflection for any lighting is terrible! The card base is actually Blackberry Bliss although in the photo it looks like black! The card layer is a full 4″ x 5 1/4″ piece of that leafy pattern.

Next, I cut a strip of a different pattern of the paper, a smaller foliage pattern in gold. It measures 4″ x 1 1/4″ and it is layered on a strip of Blackberry Bliss that measures 4″ x 1 1/2″. That is just adhered across the card, although from the photo it almost looks like the designer paper layers are separated with some Blackberry Bliss showing in between! That would also be a good way to make this card!!

The greeting, in the Banner Year Stamp Set, is embossed in Gold in the Metallics Embossing Powders on a strip of Blackberry Bliss. After deciding to use a Gold Foil layer from the Tasteful Labels Dies underneath the greeting, I ran the narrow embossed strip through the die just to make the ends match the Gold Foil. This greeting is popped up on Stampin’ Dimensionals®. I also added two of my new Brushed Metallic Adhesive Backed Dots to each end of that strip of designer paper.

For a final touch, I adhered some gold foil foliage from the Blackberry Beauty Ephemera Pack. This pack has really pretty pieces of all kinds in it, not just gold foil pieces. I hope you already have this, too, because I see it is back-ordered until mid-December. I wonder which ship lined up at the port it is on! Don’t you think about Stampin’ Up! products being delayed every time you see one of those news reports about the container ships at sea?!

I hope this Thanksgiving card, which could be used for other occasions as well, even something like a fall wedding, inspires you to make and send some more cards! Wouldn’t this designer paper be pretty and different for a wedding in the fall? Here is another small gift card and gift bag I made earlier using this pretty paper.

It’s early yet, but time to start thinking about your Thanksgiving plans and any cards you want to make to send to friends and loved ones. The holidays are upon us!

Cutest Ghosts Halloween Trick-or-Treat Card

The ghosts are really flocking around to get ready for Halloween on this Cutest Ghosts Halloween Trick-or-Treat Card! They look pretty friendly to me, though! I just love this stamp set, especially the cute little ghosts and the stamped eyes and arms! It’s really fun to play with making Halloween cards and projects.

I’ve done some random stamping before using only the black Memento ink, but on this card, I thought I would try using different colors. These cute ghosts and other Halloween images are in the Cutest Halloween Stamp Set. I still used Memento black ink, but I also used Pumpkin Pie and Highland Heather. I just stamped on Basic White, a smaller piece 5 1/4″ x 3″. At the bottom of the card front is a black and white striped pattern in the Cute Halloween 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper cut at about 5 1/4″ x 1 1/2″. I overlapped the stamped ghost piece over the striped piece. To cover the seam and help the ribbon show up better, I cut a Basic Black cardstock strip 1/2″ x 5 1/4″. Using my Grid Paper (which I can’t stamp without!), I lined up the papers so the two papers together would only measure 4 1/4″ and adhered those together carefully. Then I adhered the black strip over the seam. And then I added the Black 3/8″ Glittered Organdy Ribbon. Love this ribbon! It’s so pretty! I might not have added the bow, but as it happened, I had it tied already from another occasion when I didn’t use it and it just happened to be with the spool of ribbon. So I went ahead and used it! I adhered the bow with two Mini Glue Dots.

The greeting is a stamp in the Cutest Halloween Stamp Set. I stamped it on Basic White and die cut with a small die in the Ornate Frames Dies. The Highland Heather layer is a great matching layering die in the set. It’s always nice when there are dies you can layer in the same set!

For a little bling, I added the colored stars in the Cute Stars Adhesive-Backed Sequins. Almost forgot, I had also stamped the individual candy corn stamp in between the ghosts! I colored in the bottom tip with a Daffodil Delight Stampin’ Blend Marker. Maybe it should have been the top portion! Isn’t that a controversy about which end is which color on candy corn?? Anyway, that little candy corn was a fun thing to fill in the space in between the ghosts.

Here is another card where I stamped the ghosts only in black ink. I love this card, too, though!
