Made With Love Gate Fold Valentine

Made With Love Gate Fold Valentine

If you need another Valentine’s Day idea, here is the Made With Love Gate Fold Valentine that you can copy or use for inspiration. It’s kind of like the Z-fold card that I always say is so easy for us to make, but makes the recipient think you created something extra-special! Making a gate fold (or gatefold) card only requires one more score line than a regular card.

Start with the usual 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″ piece of cardstock. I used Real Red. Score at 2 1/8″ and 6 3/8″ on the long side. Crease and fold on those score lines, and the two sides should meet in the middle. It’s just like a double-panel front door. You can open both doors and walk inside! To decorate, you can adhere a strip of designer series paper or a stamped panel on each of the two sides. These would likely measure 1 7/8″ x 5 1/4″. This would give you the normal margins we usually use for our other cards. I used the Made With Love Designer Series Paper.

For the focal point on the front of the card, I just used a square piece of cardstock and designer series paper. Die cut labels or other designs would also be fine. The Real Red square is 3 1/4″ x 3 1/4″. The designer paper pattern is 3″ x 3″. To adhere this to the card, you only want glue on the portion that will attach to the left panel of the card. Figure out or eyeball approximately the middle of this square and line it up where you want it. Make sure you only get adhesive on the portion that will attach to the card, leaving the other side with no adhesive. I usually hold my finger approximately where the middle is and pay attention to which side is which when I flip the piece over to apply adhesive. Then I open it up and make sure no adhesive has leaked out or shows on the inside.

Gate Fold Valentine Inside

Here is what the card looks like from the inside. You can see I added a Basic White 4″ x 5 1/4″ panel for a stamped greeting or written note. On the left side you can see how the square front piece extends out.

To decorate the front, I added a Real Red heart plus some ephemera. The word “love” and the two small gold hearts are found in the Unforgettable Times Ephemera Pack. These pieces are gold foil but other pieces are in different fonts and bright colors. These are perfect for scrapbooking but you can also use them for cards as you see! I popped up the word “Love” with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

If you want the two flaps to stay closed, you might want to add a belly band around the card that would slide on and off or tie a piece of ribbon. I didn’t really think about it until I had the card made but I liked it just fine the way it was. You could also add some gems or other embellishments if you wanted to.

Made With Love Gate Fold Valentine closed

Also, if you really wanted the two sides to stay closed, you could add just a tiny bit of Multipurpose Liquid glue to the right side of the square, let it dry, and then it can be opened and shut without a belly band or ribbon and probably will not even be noticeable.

We are down to the wire for making Valentines, but there is time right up until almost the time you want to hand the card to someone! Or mail it and say “Sorry this is late, but I wanted to let you know I was thinking of you!” Just think back to your elementary school years and reminisce about making valentines yourself with construction paper, white paste in a jar, and doilies!

Love Notes Heart Love Card for Valentine’s Day

Love Notes Heart Love Card

This Love Notes Heart Love Card for Valentine’s Day is fun and easy to make with the Love Notes 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper. This paper is cuter and more useful than you might imagine just looking at it in the catalog or online. You can use these 48 sheets of paper, 8 sheets of each of 6 designs, to make all kinds of cards, tags, scrapbook pages, and any projects you want! The cool part is that some of the sheets have cut-apart sections that you can cut down even further if you like to make whatever you come up with.

This card has a Flirty Flamingo card base which coordinates with this Love Notes paper. I used this section with the watercolor-look background and heart. I trimmed down the white margin to fit it on my card base. For the greeting, I cut out the word “Love”, layered it on another piece of the designer paper, then layered that on a piece of Flirty Flamingo cardstock cut into a banner. The banner was cut with the Stylish Shapes Dies, some of my favorites. I popped it up on Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I felt that the card still needed some pizzazz, so I looked through my embellishments and found these retired little hearts and flowers – well, that’s what they are called: Adhesive-backed Hearts & Flowers. I liked the look of the little hearts scattered around the card! If you ever feel like your card needs a little something, look through all your embellishments and you will likely find something to add!

Florals In Bloom All-Occasion Card

Florals In Bloom All-Occasion Card

In honor of the new Stampin’ Up! Annual 2025-2026 Catalog that went live yesterday (did you hear??!), I thought I would look through it for an idea for a card and I found it on page 45 of the catalog! This Florals In Bloom All-Occasion Card is what resulted from following the “technique” for this card described on page 45. There couldn’t be an easier idea to try and is a great way to show off both sides of our beautiful designer series paper!

If you look in the bottom section of page 45 in the Stampin’ Up! catalog, you’ll see this “technique” for showing off both sides of the designer series paper. Score and fold over one side of the designer series paper! Isn’t that the simplest technique you ever heard?! I don’t know what their measurements were but I’ll tell you what I did. I didn’t have the same greeting they used so I chose something else and added an extra piece of cardstock to show off the flowers a little better.

The card base is Strawberry Slush cardstock, which coordinates with the Florals In Bloom Designer Series Paper that I used. Not knowing what Stampin’ Up! used, I cut a piece of designer paper at 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″. I scored at 1″ on the right side of the paper and folded that over which showed the opposite side of the bluish and peach-colored flowers on the front side of the paper. At that point, you can just center this piece on your card base. Since I had been playing with cardstock colors, I already had out Peach Pie cardstock so I cut a strip of that to put on the opposite side of the designer paper to bring out the Peach Pie flowers on the paper. This piece I cut out at 1″ x 5 1/2″ and adhered it to the left side of the designer paper. You can make that margin whatever width you want. I made it 1″ wide just because I didn’t know how much I wanted, but you can use a slimmer scrap piece of cardstock for this piece.

I didn’t do any complicated math for the measurements of this card, but you can if you want! Everything is just “eyeballed”. The strip of Peach Pie showing on the side of the designer paper is 1/4″ wide. When placing this piece of designer paper on the front of the card, there were 3/8″ margins on each side. The paper was as long as the card length so you do have to line it up carefully. If you are off by a little bit, just use the Paper Trimmer to shave off the bit of overhanging paper.

For the greeting I chose an already-stamped sentiment that I had saved from stamping and diecutting the entire stamp of greetings in the More Messages Stamp Set. You can ink up the entire stamp and get all the greetings stamped at once, then diecut with the one big die in the More Messages Die. You can buy both together in the More Messages Bundle in the May 2025 Online Exclusives. If you only want to stamp one message you can ink up the one sentiment on the stamp with a Stampin’ Write Marker or very carefully with an ink pad or Stampin’ Spot. If you stamp and diecut the entire stamp, just save the extra sentiments in a little plastic bag or in the stamp case. Makes it very handy when you want a greeting in a hurry! Mine happened to be stamped in Strawberry Slush ink so it was perfect!

For a little embellishment I cut two short pieces of the Summer Splash 3/8″ Ribbon, adhered them folded in half on the back of the greeting with Stampin’ Seal Adhesive, then popped up the whole greeting with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Then trim the ends of ribbon to even them up.

This is a very easy card and really fun to find this new way of using designer series paper to show off both sides without cutting two pieces! Be sure to check out lots of tips and tricks in the catalog as you page through, whether the hard copy or the digital version.

Here’s another card I made the other day with scraps of the Florals In Bloom Designer Series Paper that I think turned out nice!

The April 2025 Paper Pumpkin Kit Inked Occasions

Paper Pumpkin Kit April 2025 Contents

My April 2025 Paper Pumpkin Kit, Inked Occasions, surprisingly was delivered to me on Saturday before Easter! I guess I hadn’t kept up with the tracking and it must have been delivered in the morning by the “package” mail truck because our regular mail came later in the day or evening (!) as is the usual schedule. I was looking forward to this kit becauses I’ve seen this kind of artwork and thought it was interesting and beautiful. When I opened the Paper Pumpkin box, I gasped out loud because the card bases were so stunning with all the colors and the gold accents! It would be fun to actually create the art you see printed on the cards myself, but on the other hand, just making these Paper Pumpkin cards from the kit was WAY easier and less messy! Sometimes you just want to enjoy “easy” and that’s what Paper Pumpkin provides – Just open the box and make the cards or project. No hunting around for all your supplies or thinking up the design in the first place!

In the photo at the top of the page are the three card bases and the extra diecuts to embellish the cards. All I had to do was fold those card bases in half on the score line and then add the design elements according to the directions. Usually I watch the video that is available for each kit but this time I did not. I just dove right in to this Paper Pumpkin Kit rather than setting it aside and then not getting around to making it pretty promptly. That’s how you end up with a stack of Paper Pumpkin Kits that haven’t been made yet even though you really wanted to make them!

This is a closeup of one of the card base designs and a peek at the gold foil words to place on one of the cards. This coloring is just gorgeous!

Paper Pumpkin Kit April 2025 Card Designs

Here are the other two card bases in the kit. One has the bright colors and the edge of the card on the right side of the photo has the lighter colors in the same style. Once you get the kit in your mailbox, you can do with it what you want! Follow the directions and make the cards as designed. Or strike out on your own and do something different with the supplies! This kit in particular would be easy to cut the card bases in half and use those halves as the layer on another card base from card stock you already have and get twice as many cards! You would need to add your own envelopes of course. And before I forget to mention, the envelopes in this kit have these artistic designs on the corner of the envelope!

And finally, here is the photo of my finished cards! I changed the greetings on some of them to be something I might be more likely to use.

If you would like to have the fun and excitement of receiving your own Paper Pumpkin Kit in the mail, just subscribe HERE by May 10th to get the May 2025 Kit, Mountain Majesties. It is a card kit with a masculine theme. Perfect for Father’s Day and other occasions. But women like mountain scenery too so I don’t see that it is just “masculine”. It’s just that we often find it a little harder to make cards for men, and things in the craft world in general, so when we find something that really works for men, we tend to call it “masculine”. And once you are a Paper Pumpkin subscriber, you can check out the past kits and refills (refills have all the materials but not the stamp set or ink spot). Any extra kits that Stampin’ Up! has left over will be put online for sale at a certain time after that kit goes out to subscribers.

Playing in the Rain Turtle Card

Playing in the Rain Turtle Card

Here is another card, the Playing in the Rain Turtle Card, to say “Goodbye” as many good products retire from Stampin’ Up! in less than a week. I know Stampin’ Up! always retires all or almost all the designer paper in an outgoing catalog, but this Rain Or Shine Specialty Designer Series Paper seems like it should be spared because of its cute characters and the “rainy” paper that goes so perfectly with the Playing in the Rain Stamp Set and matching dies. Stampers must have loved it because it is sold out as I write this. At least we do have the stamp set to stamp cute characters and the dies with so many additional pieces to create fun scenes. However, if you want the stamp set and dies, buy it by May 1st in the Bundle and save 10%. They will not be bundled in the new catalog, because we will have new bundles!

To make this card, I just pulled out the Rain or Shine Paper I have left, and I couldn’t resist this cute little white print pattern in the package. That helped me choose Flirty Flamingo for the card base and then the layer of designer paper. I cut out the turtle from the designer paper with my Paper Snips. I wasn’t doing the rain theme on this card so I didn’t include any puddles or raindrops with the turtle. I love that he is just holding a single daisy!

After I had the turtle ready, I thought maybe I should go ahead and add some grass and flowers to the bottom of the card, even though I don’t really have a sky. I just cut off a piece of the designer paper with the white and yellow daisies and curved around the top flowers just to look like little hills in the yard. That piece of grass and flowers is adhered flat on the bottom of the card, but I popped up the turtle with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

The greeting is from the new Circle Sayings Stamp Set, coming in the new Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalog. It is stamped in Flirty Flamingo. I chose a die from the new Cheerful Daisies Dies that goes with the Cheerful Daisies Stamp Set in a Bundle. A little mixing of the old with the new! The greeting is also popped up on Dimensionals.

Basically, an easy card to make! It’s just a simple card front with a cutout turtle and a diecut greeting! You can make a card like this with other paper and stamps. Here’s another card I made using one of the cute characters, this one is stamped and colored in.

It’s time to get serious and check out the Stampin’ Up! Last Chance List of retiring products, not only from the Annual Catalog but also from the Spring Mini Catalog. There still are a lot of bargains available! Did you know you can sort the list by price “Low to High” in the upper right, just below the title of the page? Hope you find some great deals for you!

Paper Pumpkin Kit May 2022 In Color Cards

Paper Pumpkin Kit May 2022 In Color Cards

My Paper Pumpkin Kit for May 2022 finally arrived the other night. Our mail comes so late every day that it is almost night when it gets here. I swear sometimes they refuse to deliver my Paper Pumpkin Kit until they really have to! It did finally arrive and I made one of each of the cards as designed for the kit to see what they would all look like.

This is the kit we were looking forward to for everyone to have the chance to work with the new Stampin’ Up! 2022-2024 In Colors. The new In Colors are Sweet Sorbet, Parakeet Party, Tahitian Tide, Orchid Oasis, and Starry Sky. I really like this group of colors! Some years I’m not necessarily so thrilled, but these are nice and bright and colorful!

Paper Pumpkin kits are a subscription, a papercrafting kit that is mailed to you each month. Everything you need to make the project inside is included, except maybe scissors to open the wrapping on the supplies. Even appropriate adhesive is included! And with your first kit, you will receive a special Paper Pumpkin acrylic block on which to mount the stamps you will use. Each kit comes with an exclusive stamp set that you can use over and over again if you want to make other projects plus a small, square ink pad called a Stampin’ Spot. You can just tap it on your stamp and then clean off the ink with a damp paper towel or a baby wipe. Directions, of course, are included and you can watch a video of how to assemble the project. Mostly the kits are cardmaking kits but sometimes it is something different. It’s always a surprise but we have been getting sneak peeks in recent years!

These cards were very quick and easy to put together! Envelopes are included and have In Color inserts to give the recipient an extra boost of color when they open the envelope! Or maybe I should say preview. You can follow the directions exactly, especially if you are a new crafter, or you can change up the design or the wording however you like. It is your kit and your supplies! If you already have some stamping supplies, you might want to add some of your own cardstock or embellishments, but you don’t have to have anything extra.

I usually like to follow the directions to make the cards as designed and then if I want to I will make some extras of my own design or just change the greeting. Even if you are an experienced crafter, it is fun to just open the box and have some crafting time all planned out for you! No need to design anything yourself or bring out your own supplies!

The next Paper Pumpkin Kit is already taking sign-ups for June! The deadline is always the 10th of the month so that the kits can be mailed out immediately after that.

  • This month’s kit contains enough elements to create 9 cards—3 each of 3 designs—and 9 coordinating envelopes. This all-inclusive kit includes printed card bases, die-cut paper pieces, adhesive, and more!
  • The Pick of the Crop Paper Pumpkin Kit includes a Calypso Coral Classic Stampin’ Spot!
  • This kit’s stamp set is perfect for expressing your love, gratitude, and style. With sentiments that say “Love you a whole bunch”, “You’re the pick of the crop”, “You are the sweetest,” and so many more, you’ll be able to use this photopolymer stamp set for all of your summer projects.
  • This kit also includes specialty vellum pieces to add a fresh touch to your cards.
  • And you’ll get a Mini Shopping Bag (5-3/8″ x 6″) which can be used to hold a couple of cards for a unique craft element. (Additional bags will be available to purchase separately.)

Making Covid-19 Cards With Stampin’ Up!

Covid-19 Cards6

Yesterday was the Stampin’ Up! Day of Service and I enjoyed a fun and relaxing hour watching a Facebook Live with Sara Douglass, CEO of Stampin’ Up! and her family at home making Covid -19 cards using sayings on the Share Sunshine PDF download. I made several cards, sometimes taking inspiration from Sara’s instructions and sometimes my own, and afterwards I made more cards. And after dinner, I made even more cards!

These cards were supposed to be kept simple and since I was making a lot I just wanted to mostly make basic cards. I have a few that I may go back and put maybe a few embellishments on, but I may not!

Covid-19 Cards5

If you missed the Facebook Live yesterday with Sara, you can still watch the replay today or at your convenience on Facebook HERE. I would suggest that you watch her previous Facebook Live where she explained how the cards are designed, how to cut your designer paper, etc. You don’t have to follow her designs, you can do your own, too. You don’t have to use these greetings on the Share Sunshine Download, you can use your own.

Covid-19 Cards4

This is a great way to use up some of your retiring or retired designer paper before the new papers come out June 3 in the new Stampin’ Up! catalog! Sara shows an easy way to cut your paper so you can make several card designs that are simple enough for any stamper and then you can embellish if you like.

Sara’s intention was that we stampers can #SpreadSunshine with our cardmaking skills and then send them to friends, family, frontline workers, nursing homes, neighbors, wherever you like.

You might enjoy just watching the Facebook Live video from Sara and her family even if you don’t have time to make cards right then. It’s always fun to see new ideas and see what cards other people are making!

An Invitation From Stampin’ Up!

Our Stampin’ Up! Day of Service will be Thursday, May 21 at 2:00 pm MT! With current social distancing practices, employees are participating in Day of Service virtually, which provides us the opportunity to include demonstrators and customers in Stampin’ Up!’s service activity.

For this year’s Day of Service, we will use the Share Sunshine PDF Download (no longer available) to make and send cards to loved ones, frontline workers, etc. As part of our Day of Service, we will provide each employee with the Share Sunshine PDF Download and will contribute $12 USD per employee to the COVID-19 response funds, as part of our COVID-19 giveback, resulting in a company donation of $5,820 USD for Day of Service!

We invite demonstrators to participate and we encourage you to share the event with your customers so they can join the fun!

Stampin’ Up! employees, demonstrators, and customers will be gathering virtually for our Day of Service craft party on 21 May at 2:00 PM (MT) to make our cards together in a Facebook Live on Sara’s CEO Facebook page.

If you or your customers are unable to participate in the live craft party, the replay will be available to view any time on Sara’s Facebook page.

To make it easy for everyone to participate, we’ve also created an instruction sheet for Sara’s four-step cards, which includes a cut map for your Designer Series Paper (any Designer Series Paper will work). Note: A full package of 12″ x 12″ Designer Series Paper will be enough to make four kits (20 cards). You can find the instruction sheet here. We encourage you to come prepared with pre-cut Designer Series Paper!

SO….YOU are invited to participate in this Facebook Live cardmaking event along with Demonstrators and SU Employees! Feel free to just watch or follow along and copy their cards or just do your own stamping while you watch! You are not required to purchase the download. You can make the same card design and use your own greeting and your own kind of designer paper. If you miss it, like any FB Live, you can watch it later!

Quick and Easy Ghost Card For Halloween

Quick and Easy Ghost Card For Halloween

I made this Quick and Easy Ghost Card For Halloween almost in seconds! Well, a little die-cutting was involved so maybe it was a few minutes but it was very fast. And I like the card so much I plan to make more to send out!

The way I made these ghosts is a creative idea that I saw when I was first introduced to Stampin’ Up! and helped propel me to sign up as a Demonstrator. I found out that “rubber stamping” was WAY more than a stamp and ink and I was blown away by the creativity I saw with stamping and Stampin’ Up! at a little event I went to with my friend and future upline. When we started doing some stamping at this gathering, I actually had to ask what I was supposed to do with this stamp and ink pad! When I saw a ghost card similar to this one on a display board, I was hooked!

The card base is Basic Black with a layer of the spider web design in the Monster Bash Designer Series Paper. I’ll get to the ghosts in a minute. The greeting is stamped in Smoky Slate Ink from the Spooktacular Bash Stamp Set. It was then die-cut with the Ornate Frames Dies. You can get the stamp set and dies together in a Spooktacular Bash Bundle and save 10%. To dress up the greeting, I added a bit of the Black 5/8″ Glittered Organdy Ribbon. Then it is popped up on Stampin’ Dimensionals®.

Here’s the big secret of how to make ghosts that are hanging out and peering around corners…..cut out a heart and then cut it in half! You have a ghost! You could cut out a heart by hand because, after all, a ghost doesn’t have to be made perfectly. But I used the Stitched Be Mine Dies to cut out a heart. I used one die that was large but not with the stitching. Then I simply cut the heart in half lengthwise. The eyes are just colored in by hand but you could use some kind of punch. Isn’t that clever to use a heart shape to make a ghost??! I love it!

For a little more bling on the card, I colored some Rhinestones with the Black Stampin’ Blend marker and then added three to the card. I like that touch.

Since the inside of the card is black, unless you emboss a greeting in white on the inside, you won’t be able to write a message or note. Just add a layer of Whisper White inside and stamp a greeting. I used another greeting in the Spooktacular Bash Stamp Set and stamped it in Smoky Slate Ink. I also added a strip of the spider web designer paper inside.

That’s how easy this card is to make and it’s fun to make ghosts out of hearts! Here is another card I made with ghosts and glimmer stars. Get out your Halloween or other designer paper and make some ghosts cut from hearts! Decorate your Halloween card with ghosts and scary greetings and other things and see what you come up with, maybe something like my Quick and Easy Ghost Card For Halloween.
