Rainbow Glimmer Christmas Trees Card

Rainbow Glimmer Christmas Trees Card

This Rainbow Glimmer Christmas Trees Card was sort of in my head, but then I started on two other projects first before deciding to give this idea a try! I thought it would be fun to use the Rainbow Glimmer Paper and try to get the ombre shades of the green color. The middle tree shows a different color at the base but the other two have slight variations in the green that doesn’t show up in the photo. I think it would be fun if this paper had narrower bands of colors so you could get more of an ombre effect on any projects. But, it is still really pretty and fun paper to use!

The card base is Mint Macaron with a layer of Shimmery White Cardstock. After cutting out and temporarily placing the trees on the card, I decided to try stamping the word “Joy” in the Whimsical Trees Stamp Set around in the background. There wasn’t a lot of empty space on which to do a little stamping so I’m not sure I like what I did. Maybe I do. What do you think??

The greeting is also in the Whimsical Trees Stamp Set and stamped with Mint Macaron. I layered it on a narrow piece of the Rainbow Glimmer Paper. I almost didn’t add a greeting since the card is a little busy already but I did! I really do like the Rainbow Glimmer Paper trees!

If you own the Christmas Trees Dies or will be purchasing them soon on the Last Chance Sale or the Whimsical Trees Bundle, note that there are two “pages” of dies in your package! I guess somehow I was only using what I saw when I pulled the dies out of the package and either forgot or never saw the rest of them! I wondered what happened to the trees that I used on this card that I had seen on other samples! So now I have lots more dies than I thought I had! Duh!

Remember the way these retirements work is that even if Bundles are carried over in the future to another catalog, they won’t still be Bundles. You might still be able to buy the stamp set and dies or whatever the individual components of the Bundle are, but you won’t get the 10% off discounted price. Be sure to check out the Last Chance Sale and the updated Clearance Rack to get the best chance of getting what you want lest anything sell out!

It was a rough morning because my website was not working so I couldn’t post my card until I went through two different Help Chats! Ugh! And even then they said it might work in a few minutes or it could take 24-48 hours globally! Thankfully it started working again after lunch!

Do some Christmas stamping this weekend! I hope to do that AND put up my tree! Wish me luck!

Embossed and Colored Whimsical Trees Christmas Card

Embossed and Colored Whimsical Trees Christmas Card

This card started out being an experiment of using white trees on a white layer on a white card, but it turned into this Embossed and Colored Whimsical Trees Christmas Card. That didn’t seem to be going like I imagined so I tried another technique of embossing and coloring the trees.

This white paper I used is my favorite, Shimmery White! If you look closely, in person, you can just barely see a little shimmer on the paper. It also works pretty well for a little watercoloring, as I used on this card. But the paper is so elegant, I think! I love using it.

To make this card, I started with a Shimmery White Cardstock card base with a layer of Shimmery White. On a separate piece of Shimmery White, I stamped two of the same trees and one different using Versamark Ink with the Whimsical Trees Stamp Set. Then I embossed with white embossing powder, which comes in the Basics Embossing Powders of three colors – white, black, and clear. You also need a Heat Tool to do embossing! Just hold the Heat Tool over the powder until you see it change! You will notice and it’s just magical! But it may take a minute until the Heat Tool gets hot enough after you turn it on.

After embossing the trees I die-cut them with the Christmas Trees Dies. I also die-cut the little ribbon decoration you can add to the tree. I cut out two of those for two of the trees. If you can think of it, this would be a good time to use the Adhesive Sheets so you don’t have to use glue.

After I decided the pure white trees on a white card weren’t going to work, I decided to use my Water Painter to add green color using an ink refill in the lid of the ink pad. Use it like a paintbrush except the water is already inside! Love these! I used Pear Pizzazz on two of the trees and Just Jade on the center tree. The embossing resists the ink so it still shows through. You can take a tissue and wipe any excess off the embossing if you need to. You could use any two or three green colors that you like. We have lots of choices!

When the trees were dry, I glued the ribbon piece onto two of the trees with tiny drops of glue.

For the background of the card, I used a watercolor background of Pool Party. I tried to apply it lightly with lots of water squeezed out of the Water Painter and a little bit of ink. I didn’t bring it all the way to the bottom so it would look like snow on the bottom of the card. Then I stamped a greeting with Just Jade ink at the bottom of the card with the Whimsical Trees Stamp Set.

After coloring the background and letting it dry, I adhered the trees, two popped up with Stampin’ Dimensionals and one flat on the card. I usually like to slip one partially underneath another one.

It was absolutely necessary (to me!) to add some bling but you could totally not do this. I added a few of the greenish rhinestones in the Holiday Rhinestones. You could add them to the trees instead if you liked.

So all in all, even though I changed my original idea, I really like this card and maybe I will make extras to send. It’s time to start cranking out those Christmas cards so that you can mail them extra early this year! Have fun!

Whimsy & Wonder Ornament Christmas Card

Whimsy & Wonder Ornament Christmas Card

This is another card that completely changed from the idea I had in my head and it all came about because I turned the “pretty” side over! I realized I hadn’t used the very pretty ornament print paper in the Whimsy & Wonder Specialty Designer Series Paper so I was going to make a card using that paper. But when I turned the paper over to cut out just a section that I needed for the card, this dark blue print side just jumped out at me and this Whimsy & Wonder Ornament Christmas Card was born! I pictured using a snowflake and one blue ornament plus a greeting somehow, but I couldn’t resist all the other ornaments either!

Just because I’m a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator, don’t think that card ideas come to me magically. The placement of everything on this card just was not working out, so I finally had to give up, step back, and walk away for a few minutes. I googled this paper and although I wasn’t copying anything, I saw something that sparked the idea to put the snowflake and greeting in the lower right corner instead of the upper left. That seemed to make all the difference and I was able to complete the card design!

The card base is Basic White although you could use Misty Moonlight as the base with a thin margin of Basic White under the Misty Moonlight Designer Paper to help it stand out. I cut out several ornaments from the other side of the paper with my Paper Snips while I watched TV. If you wanted to make it easier, you could just cut out the outline of the ornament and not the ornament hanger portion because if you add a bow later, you can cover up that you cut that part off!

The snowflake is in the Wonderful Snowflakes package. These are quite pretty, plain white on one side and iridescent foil on the other side. I adhered the snowflake with the tinest drops of glue, but you do have some space in the center of the snowflake. Then if you are pasting anything over the snowflake, maybe that will help hold it down also.

The greeting is in the Whimsical Trees Stamp Set. I thought maybe the simple word would go well with the snowflake. I stamped it in Moonlight Mist Ink and die cut it with the small circle in the Tasteful Labels Dies. I played with different dies and cardstock colors on which to layer it and finally settled on this Blushing Bride pink. I used a small die in the Encircled in Beauty Dies. The snowflake is adhered flat to the card and the greeting is popped up on Stampin’ Dimensionals.

The ornaments are all cut out from the opposite side of this paper. I just adhered them with Stampin’ Dimensionals and adhered a little bow on each one with a Mini Glue Dot. The ribbon is the White 1/4″ Crinkled Seam Binding Ribbon. I think a silver trim would also work well. Then for some bling I added some Silver Epoxy Essentials. I think they match well with the paper and look!

After a slow start on this card, I’m really happy with how it turned out. Be sure you check the “other side” of our beautiful designer papers because you just might find something special. And remember, a lot of the “other sides” can be used throughout the year, not just during the season the paper was designed for. This Whimsy & Wonder Ornament Christmas Card even uses both sides of the same paper by cutting out the pretty ornaments! Try it!

Whimsy & Wonder Traditional Christmas Card

Whimsy & Wonder Traditional Christmas Card

The Whimsy & Wonder Suite in the Stampin’ Up! Holiday Catalog uses soft pastel colors in it, but for this Whimsy & Wonder Traditional Christmas Card, I decided to just use the traditional Christmas colors of red and green!

The card base is Garden Green with a layer of Real Red Cardstock. Real Red has been my favorite color forever! If you buy a red somewhere else, like the big box craft store, you will find that their red does not compare to the perfect red of the Stampin’ Up! Real Red! I know because I bought a big package of red cardstock and envelopes when I first started stamping. When I saw how it compared to the Stampin’ Up! Real Red, I threw out the store-bought red paper!

The stamped layer is Shimmery White, my other favorite paper! It has just the slightest glimmer to it and works well with any medium, even some watercoloring. I stamped the tree from the Whimiscal Trees Stamp Set in Garden Green Ink. Old Olive would also look good. Then I overstamped it with the dots to look like little red ornaments or lights on the Christmas tree. I couldn’t resist stamping the holly and berries up in each corner of the card. I just stamped them in Garden Green and then went back in with a Blender Pen and added green ink to the leaves and red ink to the berries. Just very lightly and carefully because I didn’t want the initial stamping to smear.

The greeting is stamped from the Banner Year Stamp Set. It is stamped on Shimmery White and layered on a strip of Real Red, punched at each end with the Lovely Labels Pick a Punch. The greeting itself is popped up on Dimensionals but the Real Red punched piece is adhered directly on the card front. For some embellishment, I added the smallest Gilded Gems to each end of the red piece.

Since the tree doesn’t come with a trunk, I didn’t really like it just floating in the air, so I added a bow with the Real Red 3/8″ Sheer Ribbon. I might have preferred a really narrow ribbon but since this one is sheer, I thought it looked light enough to put in between the tree and the greeting. And since my tree needed a star at the top, I looked through my retired punches and found the right size little punch with a star and punched some Gold Foil.

The lesson here is that even though this stamp set, Whimsical Trees is “whimsical” doesn’t mean you can’t make it “traditional” with color and embellishment! Here is another card I made with the same stamped tree and the new Whimsy & Wonder Specialty Designer Series Paper in the less traditional colors. I love this card as is, but if you are looking for the red and green of Christmas, you can certainly use this tree and change up the colors. If you are looking for a more traditional Christmas card or at least a few for certain people, then try this Whimsy & Wonder Traditional Christmas Card with red and green!

Whimsical Tree Happy Holidays Card

Whimsical Tree Happy Holidays Card

This Whimsical Tree Happy Holidays Card came after I made another card for my weekly newsletter to showcase a card that could be made with this beautiful paper. Actually, that card turned out to be monochromatic! If you didn’t receive my stamping newsletter today, please sign up for my Mailing List in the red box on my blog! Then you won’t miss out!

I am in love with the Whimsy & Wonder Suite in the just-released Holiday Mini Catalog! It’s the Whimsy & Wonder Specialty Designer Series Paper that really caught my eye when I started seeing it in videos, rather than online in the catalog. We can say this about most papers, but they almost all look even better in person and this one does that! If you would like a different, soft color scheme for your Christmas cards or projects, this is the paper for you!

This card base is Mint Macaron, one of the coordinating colors of the designer paper. Then I used a layer of the foil-accented holly leaf pattern of the designer paper. It’s so pretty against that Mint Macaron cardstock! Before adhering it to the card base, I wrapped the Blushing Bride 3/8″ Frayed Grosgrain Ribbon around to the back and added a separate bow. This ribbon is so soft and pliable! You might as well get some on your order! You’ll love it!

The Whimsical Tree is stamped on Basic White with Mint Macaron ink. That piece is die-cut with a Scalloped Contours Die. I could have die cut the next larger size of the Scalloped Contours Dies, but I didn’t want to take up too much room and cover up too much of the holly leaves designer paper, so I just made a layer of Blushing Bride Cardstock slightly larger than the stamped tree piece. That whole piece is popped up on Stampin’ Dimensionals. For some extra embellishment, I added some Champagne Rhinestones on the tree and cut out two gifts from the designer paper. If you do that, feel free to cut down the packages to smaller sizes than are printed on the paper. You can make them a lot smaller if you want!

I wanted just a small greeting so I stamped “Happy Holidays” from the Poinsettia Petals Stamp Set in Mint Macaron and layered it on a small rectangle of Blushing Bride.

This card has a few steps, but nothing too difficult. Did I say how much I love the paper and the ribbon?!! I love this card! I might copy it and make some more and then I’ll have some Christmas cards ready to go in December!

Peaceful Prints Deer and Trees Christmas Card

Peaceful Prints Deer and Trees Christmas Card

My inspiration for this Peaceful Prints Deer and Trees Christmas Card came from a sample in the Sale-A-Bration 2021 Brochure! Sale-A-Bration begins August 3 along with the Holiday Mini Catalog so it will be a great time to shop! With every $50 you spend, you can choose a free product in the Sale-A-Bration Brochure!

This card uses a really new product that we have never had before! In fact, I didn’t know it even existed! Cork Specialty Paper! I knew I was going to use the Peaceful Prints Designer Series Paper which is a product you can choose free in the Sale-A-Bration Brochure with a $50 purchase! I knew I was going to cut out two of the deer, by hand, on the paper and use the deer something like in a sample on that page. In the Holiday Mini, you can purchase a punch that I believe will cut out some of the deer on this designer paper, of course only the deer looking in one direction.

The card base is Real Red. Then I got the idea to use a piece of the Cork Paper for the first time for a background layer and I added a layer of Basic Black behind it to match the plaid on the deer. I cut the two deer out by hand from the Peaceful Prints Paper, leaving a small white margin around them. Someone said to do that at a Stampin’ Up! Convention years ago, I guess it makes cutting easier and you don’t have to be perfect! But when I flipped the paper over to put glue on it, the other side of the paper was the red and black plaid, so I just as easily could have had deer with no white margin around them! So funny! I used Stampin’ Seal to glue down the cork and the black layers onto the card. It seemed to work fine on the Cork Paper. The Cork Paper is surprisingly very thin! It’s amazing!

The trees are stamped from the Whimsical Trees Stamp Set and die cut with one of the dies in the Christmas Trees Dies. I die cut one just plain green and sponged some ink on it for interest. You can buy both the Stamp Set and Dies together in the Whimsical Trees Bundle and save 10%! (see pages 24-25 in the Holiday Catalog). I adhered two tree trees flat on the cork paper and one is popped up on Stampin’ Dimensionals. Then both deer are popped up on Dimensionals, except the one on the left overlaps the tree which is already popped up so I only put a Dimensional under his rear and the front end is glued down to the tree!

The greeting is in the Whimsical Trees Stamp Set. I stamped it in Real Red Ink and die cut with a die in the Stitched So Sweetly Dies. You might not recognize which one because I trimmed off the top and bottom rounded edges so I could layer it on a Real Red piece cut with the exact same die. Really, you can’t recognize either of them the way the top one covers up the bottom layer, but at least I got two colors for the greeting!

On the inside of the card, I added a Basic White layer, adhered a strip of the red and black plaid design at the bottom, and also adhered another die-cut tree! Then I can stamp or write a message on the inside on the white cardstock!

This was a fun card to make as I went along! I started by looking at the sample that looks like a tag in the Sale-A-Bration Brochure and came up with this card! Just play when you are stamping and see what you come up with! Maybe you will choose this Peaceful Prints DSP when you place a $50 order during Sale-A-Bration so you can make something like this Peaceful Prints Deer and Trees Christmas Card.

Quick & Easy Whimsy & Wonder Christmas Card

Quick & Easy Whimsy & Wonder Christmas Card

If you are looking for a simple card to make for the holidays, look no further than this Quick & Easy Whimsy & Wonder Christmas Card. It probably only took a couple of minutes to make! The paper is so pretty you don’t really need much other than a greeting.

This card starts with a base of Polished Pink, although there are many colors in the packages on the paper that you could also choose. If you were making several cards with this designer paper, you could make each one with a different color card base!

The designer paper is the Whimsy & Wonder Specialty Paper in the Stampin’ Up! Holiday Catalog, coming August 3rd! That’s not far off anymore! When I saw this paper being shown in some videos, it sold me on the whole Suite! Just looking at the catalog online, I completely dismissed this Suite! This paper has beautiful foil accents and is very Christmasy except with non-traditional colors. But I think it might be good to break out of our box and change things up a little. I still will make some red and green cards, the traditional colors of Christmas. This paper is SO pretty that I think it will be a hit as more people see it in person! This paper might even remind some people of the silver aluminum Christmas trees of years ago. I think they’ve even made a nostalgic comeback in recent years. Since you couldn’t put lights on these trees, some people had a multi-colored light that turned to give the tree different colors. Anyway, the silver in this paper reminds me of those vintage trees!

I used the In Color Polished Pink 3/8″ Open Weave Ribbon on the card. Originally, I planned to have it go vertically on the left side of the card with a bow. But after stamping the greeting from the Whimsical Trees Stamp Set in Polished Pink Ink and cutting it out with one of the new Tailor Made Tag Dies, I decided to pull the ribbon through the tag, tie a bow and secure it underneath the designer paper layer. I wish I would have popped up the greeting with Stampin’ Dimensionals, but I just adhered it flat to the card.

If you want a quick and easy card to make in multiples for Christmas, use this very basic card design of designer paper on a card base, a greeting, and a piece of ribbon and a bow for embellishment. You could add a little sparkle and bling, but really the paper with its foil accents can stand on its own. When your Holiday Mini Catalog comes in the mail, give a good look at the Whimsy & Wonder Suite.

Whimsy & Wonder Christmas Trees Holiday Card

There is a new Suite in the Stampin’ Up! Holiday Mini Catalog called the Whimsy & Wonder Suite which I totally passed over the first time I looked through the catalog online. When I saw some videos of the package of the designer paper and the pink color scheme for the holidays I fell in love with it although the first card I made, this Whimsy & Wonder Christmas Trees Holiday Card, doesn’t even have those colors! Go figure! But this is what I came up with at the time!

The Whimsy & Wonderful Designer Series Paper is so stunning! If you don’t mind using some non-traditional colors for Christmas, even for a few cards and projects, I think you will love the designs and colors on this paper! All the sheets have foil accents on one side of the paper. Along with the pinks, blues, light greens, and images it is beautiful! It’s probably my favorite in the Holiday Catalog and I’m usually pretty traditional.

This card starts with a Mossy Meadow Cardstock base. Then I chose the dark green side of one paper with white dots, like snowflakes. I simply turned the paper over and saw the diagonal silver foil stripes on the other side and used that for the bottom portion of the card layer.

Some of the whimsical trees on another sheet of designer paper can be cut out with the dies in the Christmas Trees Dies. Of course, you can’t run the whole 12″ x 12″ sheet of paper through the Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine, so you need to cut out portions of the paper to die-cut. You want to leave a generous enough margin around the tree so the die can cut it correctly without ruining too much of the rest of the paper! On my card, the middle tree in the background was actually at the bottom of the page, not the full image, but I was able to die cut what was there and still use it! Some of my trees were glued directly to the card front and some are popped up on Stampin’ Dimensionals®. Most of the trees have foil accents in tiny dots or garlands.

The greeting is in the Frosted Gingerbread Stamp Set. I either didn’t have space for this card or didn’t care for the greetings in the Whimsical Trees Stamp Set. After looking through all my dies and judging the space on my card, I finally had to just stamp the greeting on a narrow strip of Basic White Cardstock and layered it on Mint Macaron Cardstock which matches the ink color. I used the silver pieces in the Silver & Clear Epoxy Essentials on each end of the greeting.

Maybe I should have stopped myself, but I added some Subtle Shimmer Sequins on page 37 in the Holiday Catalog in the upper background of the card. I couldn’t help myself even though with the accents on the trees and the stripes on the bottom paper, there is pretty much sparkle on the card already. But can we really have too much sparkle??!

The Holiday Catalog will come out on August 3rd! The online catalog will go live on that day for you to view. August is not too soon to begin your holiday cardmaking and crafting! Then you’ll be able to start making Christmas and holiday cards like this Whimsy & Wonder Christmas Trees Holiday Card.
