Easy Floral Romance Vellum Birthday Card

Easy Floral Romance Vellum Birthday CardThis Easy Floral Romance Vellum Birthday Card is an easy to make design and uses new specialty designer paper in the Occasions Catalog. Add a few embellishments if you like and you have a beautiful card ready to mail!

The Floral Romance Specialty Designer Series Paper in the new Occasions Catalog is something special!  You get four different patterns of paper, three sheets each.  Two of the patterns are regular designer sheets of paper.  The other two patterns are vellum!  That gives you the opportunity to use beautiful printed vellum paper for your cards and projects!

These are the two regular printed paper patterns. I forgot to photograph the opposite sides, but they are papers printed on both sides!

Floral Romance Designer Paper Sheets

These two sheets are the printed vellum:

Floral Romance Designer Paper Vellum

For my card, I used the Whisper White Thick Cardstock.  You can use the regular Whisper White, the Thick is just a little sturdier.  I wrapped the Petal Pink/Whisper White
5/8″ Variegated Ribbon around, making sure the ribbon tucked underneath the vellum layer was completely lined up with the ribbon on top so it wouldn’t show through the vellum. I used Snail Adhesive under the vellum and since the vellum is printed, I think we are going to get a break with adhesive in that it pretty much doesn’t show through.  I think I can barely see where the adhesive is through the vellum but I doubt any recipient who isn’t a perfectionist in cardmaking like we are would notice at all.  I haven’t tried Fast Fuse yet or the Multipurpose Glue.

The greeting is stamped in Petal Pink ink from the Itty Bitty Birthdays Stamp Set. This is layered on a die cut piece of Petal Pink and that on a larger oval of Whisper White. I experimented with circle of paper and vellum but the oval is what I liked best.

To embellish the card, I tied a piece of the ribbon on just in a knot and added some Petal Pink sequins from the Basic Adhesive-Backed Sequins.  I think these sequins are good for when you want just a little something, a little bling on your card!  If you need help handling sequins and other embellishments, be sure to order the Take Your Pick Tool.  It comes in handy either with the tacky putty on one end to pick up small things or the other end with interchangeable paper piercer, spatula, small and large stylus.  I’m using mine more and more.  If you have one from years ago from another company, you might want to try this new one that has more “tools” to use!

I definitely recommend this Floral Romance Specialty Designer Series Paper for lots of cardmaking occasions.  Just the paper alone will get you started in making beautiful cards, like this Easy Floral Romance Vellum Birthday Card.

One of the most beautiful suites in the new Occasions Catalog is the All My Love Suite. And I would say one of the most useful suites!  We might immediately think of Valentine’s Day with this suite, but it’s also perfect for weddings, birthdays, anniversaries, engagements……lots of occasions!

This Suite actually includes two different Bundles, the Forever Lovely Bundle with a stamp set and dies that cut out the beautiful floral border, and the Meant To Be Bundle that includes a stamp set with hearts and dies that cut out those heart shapes.  Of course, there is also a lovely designer paper, All My Love Designer Series Paper and extra embellishments like the Heart Epoxy Droplets and the All My Love Ribbon Combo Pack.

Tiny Treat Box So Hoppy Together Frog

Tiny Treat Box So Hoppy Together Frog

Here’s a fun project for this time of year, this Tiny Treat Box So Hoppy Together Frog!  Isn’t that little frog so cute? It’s part of a cute stamp set you can earn FREE during Sale-A-Bration! After you spend $50, you can choose a free product in the Sale-A-Bration Brochure.  This stamp set is one you can choose and I think will be very popular!

If you have any leftover Christmas candy, it would be fun to use the green candies with this frog.  If you don’t have any, go buy some Christmas candy on clearance now and stock up on green candies to use with this frog stamp set!  How fun!

I started with one of the Clear Tiny Treat Boxes in the Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalog.  I think everyone should have a package of these on hand because they are so easy and fun to use!  They come flat so it’s easy storage. Just assemble when you are ready with a project.  You can wrap paper around the box, ribbon, add stamped images or embellishments for any occasion!

The frog from So Hoppy Together is stamped with Memento Ink and colored with Stampin’ Blends alcohol markers.  I used Old Olive and Granny Apple Green markers with a touch of Pineapple Punch.  Also, a little Smoky Slate just to give him some grounding.  An artistic friend told me one time that you should always use a little yellow when you use green.  I punched out the frog with the 1 1/2″ Circle Punch just to make it easy.  The saying is in the set. It is punched out with the Classic Label Punch and just trimmed it to fit.

Around the box, I tied the 3/16″ Braided Linen Thread.  The regular Linen Thread had always been one of my favorites to have on hand and I’m adding this Braided Linen Thread to the list. It’s useful as a neutral but lovely being braided.

Here’s a similar Clear Tiny Treat Box decorated for Christmas with Santa!

Remember, the Occasions Catalog also went live yesterday so you have gorgeous new products to choose from, plus the Annual Catalog and the Clearance Rack.  Just remember to try to shop in $50 increments to take advantage of FREE STUFF!  Happy Shopping!

New Year’s 2019 Glitzy Card

New Year's 2019 Glitzy Card

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

I don’t think I could make this New Year’s 2019 Glitzy Card any glitzier!  I did pull out some retired or unavailable products but that’s okay!  Whatever it takes!!

This card is just a Basic Black Cardstock card base with a layer of Gold Glimmer Paper. A piece of Glossy Cardstock is the front of the card with Gold Glimmer numbers cut out from the Large Numbers Framelits Dies (retired).  The ribbon is in the Holiday Catalog, the Black 5/8″ Glittered Organdy Ribbon. This was probably the glitziest ribbon we ever had!  We talked about using it for Halloween, but also thinking ahead to New Year’s!

Just in case there wasn’t enough glitz on the card, I added some extra bling with a few sequins from the Metallics Sequin Assortment.  These sequins are different colors and different sizes, so I got some help with my Take Your Pick Tool!  Use the end with the sticky stuff to pick up sequins and place them on a dot of glue on the card!  That sticky stuff is tacky putty.

What better way to celebrate New Year’s Eve and a New Year than by stamping a card!

Here’s to a very happy, creative, relaxing, and brilliant New Year in 2019 with lots of glitz and bling!

Gingham Gala Monochromatic Card

Gingham Gala Monochromatic Card

FINALLY I have finished with all things holiday and played with some of my new Occasions Catalog 2019 products to make this Gingham Gala Monochromatic Card.  The first time I saw this gingham designer paper, it was something I wanted to have right away.  As Demonstrators, we get to pre-order new products so we can start working with them in order to be able to help our customers and give you ideas. I’m a little behind but it only took a second to get excited about these new stamps, papers, ribbons, embellishments, & everything!!

This monochromatic card is all about Grapefruit Grove, one of the newest 2018-2020 In Colors that were introduced when the current Stampin’ Up! Catalog came out. This new Gingham Gala 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper comes in two sizes of checks, the large check on one side and the small check on the other side. They are beautiful spring colors to work with:  Balmy Blue, Daffodil Delight, Grapefruit Grove, Highland Heather, and Lemon Lime Twist.

The card base is Grapefruit Grove and is layered with a piece of the Grapefruit Grove Gingham paper. The ribbon is one of the free items you can earn during Sale-A-Bration, the annual Stampin’ Up! promotion we all have come to know and love!  Spend $50 and choose a free Sale-A-Bration product! One of the choices is this Organdy Ribbon Combo pack, 5 colors that coordinate with the gingham paper.

The greeting is from the new Itty Bitty Birthdays Stamp Set.  This set is one with the new “Cling Stamps”.  The new stickers for the stamps will REALLY stick to the acrylic blocks!  We will all have a bit of a learning curve with this sticky new stamps so that we treat them right and don’t mess up the foam!  You will be amazed how sticky they are!  But it will be great not to have to worry about them falling off the block as they are being inked up or getting ready to stamp!

For a little bling, I added a few of the new Gingham Gala Adhesive-Backed Sequins.  So great to have these sequins easy to apply since we don’t have to fool with glue!  Just stick them on!

All these lovely new products and many more go live on Thursday, January 3, 2019!  And with every $50 you spend, you get to choose a FREE Sale-A-Bration product in the brochure. Spend $100 and either chose two Sale-A-Bration items or one special choice for spending $100.

How do you get to see these fabulous catalogs??  On January 3, 2019 you will be able to view them online and the products in the Stampin’ Up! Online Store.  If you are a regular customer of mine, I have ordered both catalogs for you through Stampin’ Up! and you may or may not have received them by now. The catalog mail delivery is very irregular!  If you are new and do not have a Demonstrator you are currently working with, I would be happy to help you and send you complimentary catalogs so you won’t miss out!  Just send me your contact information so I can get them in the mail to you.  It’s always fun to start a new Stampin’ Up! catalog of any kind!

Let me know if you do not receive your catalogs in a reasonable amount of time. Personally, I received two SAB Brochures and not the Occasions Catalog in the mail! I don’t know what that means!!  But Stampin’ Up! will send out another catalog if customers did not receive theirs.

Hope you are still having a happy holiday season! Ours comes to an end tomorrow afternoon after the last of the kids leave!  So sad!  But it was fun while it lasted!

Also, once you are a subscriber, you can order any Past Kits or Refills that are available in the Stampin’ Up! Online Store.

Most kits are a surprise, but if you would like some hints this time, the January 2019 Kit:

Easy Thank You Card For Christmas Gifts

Christmas Thank You Card

Now that we have all received our gifts, it’s time to make some easy Thank You cards to send, especially to those people who maybe mailed a gift to us or we didn’t get to see.  I suppose email is better than nothing, but it’s not nearly as acceptable, in my mind, as a handwritten thank you note!  I think we are losing these “old-fashioned” niceties with the ease of computers, email, and text messages.  What is nicer, to open an email on your computer or find a handmade card in the mailbox?!

You don’t have to make an elaborate card.  In fact, the Stampin’ Up! Note Cards & Envelopes would be very handy to have on hand.  Simply stamp a “Thank You” on the front or a pretty image and write your note inside.

This card I made for this post, is simply a leftover generic piece of Christmas designer paper that looks seasonal but doesn’t say “Christmas”.  You could use any pretty designer paper. I stamped a Thank You greeting and layered it on a scalloped oval.  There is a strip of Copper Foil along the side to match the copper accents in the paper.  You could use ribbon or leave it plain.

Even if it is a simple card, make and send at least one written thank you card and message to someone after the holidays. It will be much appreciated.

Christmas Cards 2018

Christmas Cards 2018These are a selection of the designs of Christmas cards I made this year and mailed out!  I wish I had another month to make even more designs and cards because I didn’t get to use everything I wanted to!  So many ideas, so many stamps!

I sure used my Stamparatus a lot this Christmas, as I anticipated last year when it was on order! It is perfect for making multiples or just making sure you don’t mess up. The worst is when you have a card all made and then stamp the inside greeting and it doesn’t stamp properly or it’s crooked up upside down or something!  With the Stamparatus, you get perfect placement (I usually stamp on a window sheet first for a greeting to make sure it is straight and placed where I want it) and if you didn’t get part of the stamp inked up properly, you can stamp it again right in the same spot.  Just be careful with those magnets!!  It’s hard to remember they are so strong and REALLY want to be together, no matter where you place them!

My children all arrived last night so all is well with the world!  Today we are looking forward to a special lunch, my son’s gift of corned beef and pastrami from Katz’s Deli from New York City, where he just visited last weekend.  Tonight after dinner I guess everyone will frantically finish wrapping presents after Amazon makes its last delivery!!!  Life will be boring after this week with no packages arriving on the porch and in the mailbox every single day!

I hope you have a wonderful Christmas Eve!  Growing up, Christmas Eve was my favorite because that’s when we opened presents at our house with our grandparents and maybe other out-of-town relatives visiting. Afterwards, we would eat chocolate chip cookies that my mother baked and any that my grandma brought over that she made. On Christmas Day Santa would have come and set out presents and filled our stockings. I remember getting a blackboard one year, one of my favorite things ever, and one year my brother and I each got Etch-A-Sketches that Santa even drew pictures on when he left them!!  Then we would go to my grandma’s house for Christmas Day dinner and krullers that she made (a German deep-fried in a knot pastry-type dessert topped with powdered sugar) and open the presents from her so she wouldn’t have to bring them over to our house.  Nothing compares to those Christmases when my brother and I were kids! Of course, once you have your own children, then it’s a different type of Christmas as parents!

And what to do when you are putting out Christmas decorations and find that the pumpkin from Halloween is still sitting on the fireplace??  Put a Santa hat on him, give him some eyes, and set him out as a Christmas decoration!

Merry Christmas Eve!

Santa Pumpkin

Santa Treats

Santa Treats

If you need one more Christmas treat idea that is easy to make, try these Santa Treats.  These boxes are easy to make, much like the 2-4-6-8 box.  Then just wrap the “belt” around and put a belt buckle.  Fill with candy.  Done and cute!

To make this Santa Treat Box, cut a sheet of Real Red Cardstock in half, at 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″.  Score at 1 1/2″, 4″, 5 1/2″ and 8″ along the long side.  Turn and score at 1 1/2″ for the bottom flaps.  Then, like the 2-4-6-8 box, cut up on those flaps to the horizontal score line and cut off the tiny little piece.  Fold and crease all the lines and assemble the box.

The belt is a 3/4″ strip of Basic Black Cardstock.  I find it easiest to wrap a long strip around the box by hand, creasing at each corner and then cutting off the excess.  Make the strip meet on the front of the box because this will be covered by the belt buckle.

The belt buckle can be the retired punch that I used, the Curvy Label Punch, or just cut a square of Silver Glimmer Paper or Silver Foil.  The trick is to then just cut a small square of black to glue in the center of the buckle to make it look like the belt goes through the buckle.

I found this idea on Pinterest made by Julie Davison.

Then just put candy directly into the Santa box or put in a cello bag and put that inside.  Mine has various chocolate candies and after the photo, a candy cane, plus a little packet of tea for something healthy!

These are very easy to make and everyone will think you made something special!
