Hand-Penned Petals Monochromatic Bumblebee Card

Hand-Penned Petals Monochromatic Bumblebee Card

I didn’t have much mojo left when it was time to make a card so I knew I had to come up with something simple, and when you’re in that situation, sometimes a monochromatic card makes it all easy! This Hand-Penned Petals Monochromatic Bumblebee Card was just the perfect card to make after a busy day and evening.

The card base is Bumblebee Cardstock. Have you ever thought about how this color name is the only one that is just one word? Just “Bumblebee”. I looked through some of my designer paper for inspiration even though I was thinking about a monochromatic card. When I saw this Bumblebee-colored designer paper in the Pansy Petals Designer Series Paper, I knew what I was going to do.

I could have had just a layer of the designer paper on the card front, but I thought a bit of white underneath would help it stand out a little. For the front of the card, I stamped the floral bouquet from the Hand-Penned Petals Stamp Set in Bumblebee Ink on Basic White Cardstock, then cut it out with the Scalloped Contours Dies. These are some of the best dies we’ve ever had, in my current opinion! I love them! For an embellishment, I tied a bow out of the Bumblebee 1/4″ Gingham Ribbon. I planned to stamp a greeting on the card, but we don’t ALWAYS have to have a greeting on the front of the card! Sometimes it can just be plain and you can stamp something inside or write a note. Or add a greeting when you are ready to send the card, if you are just making cards for fun, and then decide which greeting would be appropriate.

I also thought about putting some jewel embellishments on the card to look like they matched the yellow of the Bumblebee, but I just said to myself, “Stop!” The card was fine as it was, simple but nice enough, with a small bow for an embellishment, not to mention the very nice scalloped rectangle die complete with the stitched look. It was fine and sometimes you just have to know when to stop!

The days are winding down for the January-June 2021 Mini Catalog so be sure you are looking through the catalog another few times and getting everything you want. Some things carried over to the new Annual Catalog so we don’t have to say goodbye to those products! And some retiring products are reduced in price for the Last Chance Sale so see if you can find any bargains you “need”.

Flower & Field All-Occasion Card

Flower & Field All-Occasion Card

This Flower & Field All-Occasion Card was supposed to look exactly like a sample in the Sale-A-Bration Brochure, but this shows what can happen when you start copying something! Sometimes you change things a little or a lot!

I wanted to make a card with the Flower & Field Designer Series Paper and looked in the Sale-A-Bration Brochure for ideas. Right away the card in the bottom right of page 11 caught my eye. But when I looked through the package of paper, this black background with the Just Jade polka dots is the one that caught my eye!

As I toyed with maybe adding strips of Just Jade Cardstock as a layer under the top and bottom of the polka dot piece, somehow I came up with strips of this flowered pattern instead. I fiddled with the paper sizes until I had about 1 /4″ top and bottom margins on the Basic White Cardstock card base.

The greeting is stamped from the Lovely You Stamp Set. I wanted a greeting that was long in length. I used the same Bumblebee yellow polka dot scrap of designer paper that the brochure sample used to layer underneath the greeting. I used the Lovely Labels Pick a Punch to punch each end of the yellow polka dot layer.

Then for fun, unless you hate cutting with scissors, I cut out several white daisies from another pattern of the Flower & Field Designer Paper to adhere around the greeting. It was a little tedious, but not too bad! You can even consider cutting with Paper Snips relaxing! I popped up a couple of the daisies with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

For a finishing touch, I added a bow of Bumblebee 1/4″ Gingham Ribbon. You could also add some rhinestones or gem embellishments of any kind.

I absolutely love this Flower & Field Paper! If you do too, you can get it FREE during Sale-A-Bration with a $50 Stampin’ Up! purchase. But you have to hurry, because Sunday, February 28 is the last day of Sale-A-Bration! You don’t want to miss out on FREE products!

Flowers For Every Season Thinking of You Slimline Card

Flowers For Every Season Thinking of You Slimline Card

Have you tried this “slimline” type of card yet? I’ve made several recently just for something a little different. It’s actually a card idea that was around years ago and just came back! You can make them of various lengths and widths.

t seems I have made all my slimline cards using the Flowers For Every Season Designer Series Paper! I think it is because I hadn’t used it in a while and the 6″ x 6″ size was perfect to use. Because of the paper size, I decided to just make my card 6″ x 6″, folded in half so I could use a piece of designer paper 3″ x 6″.

I chose the yellowish paper with little flowers all over for this card. Before adhering the paper to the Whisper White card base, I adhered a strip of Bumblebee 1/4″ Gingham Ribbon to the paper, wrapping the ends around to the back and then adhering the designer paper to the card base. Then I made a separate bow out of the gingham ribbon and adhered it to the ribbon using Mini Glue Dots.

The greeting is stamped in Cinnamon Cider Ink with the Blossoms In Bloom Stamp Set. There are some good greetings in that stamp set. Then I die cut the greeting with a die in the Tasteful Labels Dies. It is popped up over the ribbon with Stampin’ Dimensionals®.

To decorate the greeting I had already cut out various flowers from some of the other papers, so I adhered two cut-out yellow flowers to the greeting. And since I can’t leave those In Color Enamel Dots alone, I had to add three dots to the greeting as well!

I think these slimline cards are a nice change up to send people. After being used to the size we normally send, this size will be a pleasant surprise! This size will fit in that medium size envelope we probably all have in a box from the office supply store. If you make it longer, you can use the longer style envelope that lots of our mail comes in.

Here is the first slimline card I tried with a blue pattern in the Flowers For Every Season Designer Paper. (Gee, I added some Enamel Dots on that card, too!)

You can use any designer paper you like, or simply stamp, but try one of these slimline cards just for fun like this Flowers For Every Season Thinking of You Slimline Card.
