Home For the Holidays Refill Kit

If you missed the October Paper Pumpkin Kit, Home For the Holidays, you can order it in the Stampin’ Up! Online Store! You must be a subscriber, though! OR maybe you just want more cards to make if eight weren’t enough! This is the Refill Kit which means you get all the materials you need to make the cards except for the ink spot and the stamp set. But you won’t need the stamp set if you have any Christmas greetings. You can use what you have or write it out on the greeting piece.

This card kit is beautiful and comes with layers of houses and trees to adhere on to the card base popped up with included dimensionals. It’s an easy kit to make! You will end up with eight cards, four cards each of two designs plus matching envelopes. As a bonus, the kit contains a bottle of glitter glue to use on the snow on the cards!

Yesterday was an exciting morning in Texas and many other places and surprisingly, Paper Pumpkin helped us see the Eclipse 2023. We had beautiful, perfect weather (after a long, very hot summer!) with clear blue skies. If you had rain or clouds you probably didn’t get to see it.

This was an annular eclipse where the moon blocks the view of the sun from the earth. In a total eclipse, the moon entirely blocks the sun. In this annular eclipse the moon is farther away from the earth so it appears smaller and when it blocks the sun, it doesn’t completely cover the sun which leaves a “ring of fire” around the edge. We didn’t see that here in Houston, but we had about 85% coverage. We could have driven a few hours farther southwest and had better coverage.

Of course we all know you shouldn’t look directly at the sun during an eclipse. We didn’t have the special glasses so we had to use other methods to see the eclipse. First of all, the easiest thing is to look at the sidewalk at the shadows of the leaves from the trees. You can very clearly see the shape of the eclipse.

As time went on there were more and more shadow, in the street, up to our front porch, everywhere! Probably our favorite one was the shadows on the front of the house and the roof.

Then my husband was playing around out on the patio in the backyard. I had been working on finishing up some old Paper Pumpkin kits so I had some empty boxes on the dryer inside the box door ready to go out in the recycle bin. My husband grabbed one and did the old pinhole trick of punched a small hole in the box and focusing it on a box on the ground. I realized he was using a Paper Pumpkin box so I got the idea to post it on my blog!

Then he also brought out my mother’s old colander that I still use and that made a fantastic artistic pattern!

I think this is really cool! Of course, the photo isn’t as sharp as it was seeing it in person but you get the idea!

That was our exciting morning of tracking the eclipse from around 10:30 am to the maximum eclipse around noon, and then ending around 1:30 pm. Besides viewing the eclipse, it was fun to see other neighbors outside and get to chat with them! Usually we are inside our airconditioned houses, but as I said the weather yesterday was perfect for being outside!

A Day For Paper Pumpkin April 2021

It’s been a rainy weekend in Houston so it was a perfect day for Paper Pumpkin! I stopped everything else and opened up my new Paper Pumpkin Kit called “So Cool” for April 2021. This is the kit that was designed for children to have a fun papercrafting experience with you! But it was really just as much fun without any little ones around! It is a very cute, colorful kit! And so many alternative ideas if you want to make other designs.

With every Paper Pumpkin Kit you have the option to make the project as designed or use the supplies to make whatever you want to come up with! The kit comes to you in your mailbox each month unless you skip a month. You can cancel with no risk or obligation.

This particular kit seems to have lots of alternative ideas that other stampers have come up with. Often I like to make a few of the cards as designed for the kit and then make something different with the rest. Today I only made these cards as designed and then it was time to clear off the kitchen table for dinner! Ugh!

Any time is a good time to let family and friends know how much you care about them, but right now with this terrible virus, we certainly are thinking about our families and loved ones. Yesterday when I unexpectedly got an appointment I wanted for that very afternoon, I remembered I hadn’t made the Valentine treat packages in my January 2020 Paper Pumpkin Kit. Since this office group enjoys my occasional holiday treats, I hurried and made up the kit! With 20 treat bags and even 10 mini cards and envelopes, I had plenty for everyone.

The envelopes came already printed with a design in the bottom corner, front and back, so that was done. I just had to make the tags to tie on to the envelope flap and stamp and decorate the front of the mini cards. The greetings were easy to stamp, and the hearts, bees and tags were all die cuts in the kit. It was fun putting on the sequins. Everything is included in these Paper Pumpkin kits!

We are past the time for ordering this kit. However, if you are or become a Paper Pumpkin subscriber, you could order the Refill for this kit in the Stampin’ Up! Online Store. You wouldn’t get the stamp set or ink spot, but you would get all the materials and you would have to substitute some other stamps for the greetings.

Better yet, sign up for the March 2020 Paper Pumpkin Kit by at least March 10th, if not sooner. It’s going to be a cute one! I can tell from the ad and the box! Yes, that is the actual box on the right side of this ad! I just love the colors!
