One of the choices you can make when you earn a FREE Sale-A-Bration product with a $50 purchase from Stampin’ Up! is the Mixed Medallions Card Kit on page 6 of the Sale-A-Bration Brochure.  This kit makes 8 beautiful trifold cards and also comes with envelopes. The kit contains 4 cards each of 2 designs. Besides the cards and envelopes, the kit also has a sheet of die-cuts to use on the cards as well as adhesive dots.  So everything you need for 8 cards is right there in the package!

Whether you are an experienced cardmaker  or a new papercrafter or stamper, you can enjoy this kit……especially when it is FREE!  Just purchase $50 or more in Stampin’ Up! products and choose a free Sale-A-Bration product for every $50 you purchase. That’s the Sale-A-Bration promotion offered annually by Stampin’ Up!

Watch the Stampin’ Up! video below and see if the Mixed Medallions Card Kit would be one of your Sale-A-Bration choices!

As Holly says in the video, even if you are a cardmaker, sometimes we run out of time, and this card kit makes it easy to save time.  I would add, sometimes it is nice to have the design already thought up for you, so you can just get to the crafting!

This card kit reminds me of the Eastern Beauty Photopolymer Bundle that is available in the Stampin’ Up! Online Store. Here is a card I made with that Eastern Palace Suite of products.

If you need a Sale-a-Bration Brochure, email me at Karen@Karenstamps.com and I’ll get one out to you! If you would like to check it out online, see the Sale-A-Bration Brochure HERE. And you can see the free products in the Stampin’ Up! Online Store HERE.

When you go to choose your free Sale-A-Bration product, consider the Mixed Medallions Card Kit!

Make Your Own Custom Note Cards

Custom Note Cards

Make your own easy custom note cards with the new Stampin’ Up! Narrow Note Cards & Envelopes.  We’ve always had the Whisper White Note Cards & Envelopes, but these are new in the Occasions Catalog on page 19.  They are very easy to miss at the bottom of the page! But you will find that you can do so many things with these Narrow Note Cards!

All it takes is a little bit of designer paper layered on the note card or a little bit of stamping, and you will have a quick and easy note card to enclose inside a gift or hand to someone. Moms put them in their children’s lunch box for a little encouraging note for them to find. Stick a gift card or cash inside. Having a package or two on hand will save you a trip to the store for a card or gift enclosure on short notice!  You WILL want more than one package on hand because they are fun to make once you get your supplies ready to go!  Good way to use up small scraps of cardstock or especially designer paper! Add a greeting and a few small embellishments or ribbon.

The Narrow Note Cards I made above only took minutes. I just used different patterns of the Painted with Love Specialty Designer Series PaperThis paper is so beautiful and artistic with its gold foil accents!

The top note card has a stamped greeting from the Labels to Love Stamp Set  punched out with a Circle Punch and layered on a piece of the Iridescent piece of paper in the Myths & Magic Glimmer Paper. I layered the circle pieces over a strip of Rich Razzleberry and added two light colored Glitter Enamel Dots.  Even though the greeting says “Love”, you wouldn’t have to only use it for a valentine, but if you wanted to, it could easily be for Valentine’s Day!

The bottom note card has another pattern of the Painted with Love Paper (love the little hearts!) and decorated with die cut hearts from the Sweet & Sassy Framelits Dies.  I also tied a little bit of Gold 1/8″ Ribbon around it, tying the bow first!

Get yourself a couple packages of these new Narrow Note Cards & Envelopes on your next order and then sit down and play with a package of designer paper and a few embellishments at hand.  After you make one or two you won’t want to stop!  By the way, they come with the cutest envelopes! Check out these birthday note cards I made recently HERE.  You will love making your own custom note cards!

Flourishing Phrases Sympathy Card

Flourishing Phrases Sympathy Card

It’s always said when we need a sympathy card, but the Flourishing Phrases Stamp Set and the Flourish Thinlits Dies make it easy to come up with a sympathy card idea. Just choose whatever color you think would be appropriate.

In reality, a lot of the pretty cards we make can just have an appropriate greeting added to it, even just “Thinking of You”, and they can serve as a sympathy card.  The Flourishing Phrases Stamp Set does come with the stamp “With Sympathy”. This is a card like one I found on Pinterest that I liked.  It is a simple layout but pretty and not flashy in any way.

The card base is Blushing Bride Cardstock with a Shimmery White Cardstock layer.  Shimmery White paper is so beautiful and such a nice quality.  There is the faintest glimmer to it if the light is right, which I think makes it look like luxurious paper. I think that Flourish Thinlit Die with the flowers and stems is a beautiful die to use for lots of cards. To give the card a little more sparkle, I added some Rhinestone Jewels.

The Whisper White Medium Envelope is stamped with a matching stamp (you see it poking out from the side of the card!). These are the nicest envelopes! Once you are used to using them, if you receive one in the mail, you can pick it out immediately by feel!  No kidding!

Just by changing the greeting, this could also be a beautiful birthday card, Get Well, Thinking of You, Congratulations, any occasion almost!

If you purchased the Flourishing Phrases Stamp Set and the Flourish Thinlits Dies, you would be over $50 and would have earned a FREE Sale-A-Bration product from the Sale-A-Bration Brochure! Check out the choices and add products to your order if you want even more free things!

Heart Happiness Thinking of You Card

Heart Happiness Thinking of You Card

You will find the Heart Happiness Stamp Set in the new Stampin’ Up! Occasions Catalog, and what a fun stamp set to make a valentine or any occasion card like this Heart Happiness Thinking of You card!

At this time of year, with Valentine’s Day coming up soon, you might think this stamp set is great for Valentine’s Day……and it is!  But as you can see, hearts are wonderful for lots of occasions so this stamp set can be used year-round!  I could have chosen a birthday greeting or congratulations or other fun greetings to put on this card.

I use my Big Shot most days when I am stamping, but sometimes it feels good to “just stamp” on your card, like this one! Honestly I didn’t really know what I was going to make for this card, just got out the stamp set and started with this particular heart stamp. I thought I would make a line of these hearts across the middle of the card but this is what evolved!

And sometimes when you stamp, you just love the look of a particular stamp. That’s how I felt about this heart stamp when I used it. That IS the way it is supposed to stamp – not completely solid all the way across – it’s the trendy watercolor look.  I really like it.  And I really liked choosing several colors of ink pads from the Brights Family and rather randomly stamping on the Whisper White card layer.  It seemed to maybe need a bit more, so I added the tiny hearts that are also in the stamp set to fill in the empty space.  I looked for a greeting that was a decent size to stand out, and I found this one in the Window Shopping Stamp Set.

I think you could make your own beautiful designer paper pattern by stamping these large and small hearts on a larger piece of paper, even 12″ x 12″ of Whisper White and then cutting it down for cards or using for a scrapbook page or whatever project.

If you would like this Heart Happiness Stamp Set, you will find it in the Occasions Catalog HERE.  The greeting is from the Window Shopping Stamp Set.

If you would like a copy of the Stampin’ Up! Catalog and/or the Occasions Catalog plus ME for your Demonstrator, I would be happy to mail you the catalogs if you are interested in Stampin’ Up! products!  Keep in mind that through March 31 is Sale-A-Bration, the Stampin’ Up! promotion that gives you a FREE Sale-A-Bration product for every $50 you spend!  Who doesn’t love free stuff?!  Just email me at Karen@KarenStamps.com with your contact information and any questions you have or anything you are particularly interested in. I would love to help you.

Coloring Therapy With Petal Passion and Stampin’ Blends

Coloring Therapy With Petal Passion

Coloring is said to be good for us, one of those things (like stamping) that takes our mind away from everything else for awhile as we get engrossed in the act of coloring. In the new Occasions Catalog, the Petal Passion Designer Series Paper really lends itself to coloring therapy with our Stampin’ Blends Markers!

The Petal Passion Designer Series Paper is designed with handpainted watercolor designs in black and white that can stand alone or easily lends itself to whatever coloring technique you would like to use on this paper. On this wintry night in Houston, I thought it would be fun to just sit and color for awhile on this paper. The Stampin’ Blends markers have their own unique way of “taking me away” with their smoothness and pretty colors.  Although each color comes with it’s own “Light” and “Dark”, don’t be afraid to use two different colors for coloring and blending rather than sticking with the one color.  Just play and experiment!

If I wanted to, I could color this whole sheet of paper OR I can choose a few flowers to color and then cut them out and use on a project. I know some people hate cutting out by hand, but I find using my Paper Snips to cut can be another relaxing activity while you are watching TV or even just sitting at your stamping desk (or kitchen table!).

Get a glimpse of all the Stampin’ Up! designer papers in the Occasions Catalog in this video.  The Petal Passion Paper begins at 19 seconds in!

Just remember, the designer papers always look WAY better in person than they do in the catalog picture. I think this video gives us a pretty good view of what the papers look like in person.

There is also a coordinating Petal Passion Memories & More Card Pack to go with the Petal Passion Suite. This card pack is on page 24 of the Occasions Catalog. These cards are perfect for memory keeping, but that’s not all!  You can also use them for making cards or gift tags or other projects.  Just pull one out and make something with it. There are also extras in the pack you might not expect like overlays, stickers, and other accents.

If you are snowed in or iced in like we are in Houston for the second day, coloring might be a good way to pass the time…..as well as stamping!  If you don’t have the Petal Passion Designer Paper, you can stamp any outline image with Memento Ink and color in. Try it! I think coloring is therapeutic, as they say, because it takes us back to our childhood and reminds us of that new box of crayons we all loved so much! Do some coloring today!

Petal Passion Pink and Black Card

Petal Passion Pink and Black CardThe Petal Passion Suite of products in the Occasions Catalog is an interesting group of products.  The Petal Passion Designer Paper is pretty in its own right in black and white, but you can also do coloring with various mediums of the images or backgrounds.  There is also the matching stamp set, Petal Palette, with its artistic images that are ready for watercoloring if you like!

We are under a Winter Storm Warning here in Houston, Texas, which is highly unusual for our area (even if we did have some snow a month ago! Check out this blog post for my snow day photos at my house!), so these Petal Passions flowers really brighten things up!  The local news is on non-stop right now talking about road conditions and weather reports. People even went crazy at the grocery stores yesterday like they do in northern climates or here during hurricane season, buying all the bread and milk and standing in long lines!  It might be bad here today and maybe tomorrow but by Saturday we will be back up to 70 degrees!  All the schools and universities are closed, my husband even stayed home from work because once this moisture freezes later conditions will get worse. Right now it’s just raining at our house, but I went out to get the newspaper and the plastic wrap had ice on it and the mailbox is covered in ice.  I have to say, I love a good SNOW DAY when we are home and don’t have to go anywhere!  It’s a great day to stamp, although there will probably be plenty of distractions with the weather and a husband home!

My card base is the In Color Powder PinkThe layer is the Petal Passion Paper, which looks like I could have stamped it.  Then I die cut a piece of Whisper White with the largest framelit in the Lots of Labels Framelits Dies.  I stamped the group of flowers and leaves in the Petal Palette Stamp Set in Memento Ink so I could color in with my Stampin’ Blends markers. I could have used my regular Stampin’ Write Markers or my Watercolor Pencils or Aqua Painter and reinkers, etc. So many good choices for coloring!

After coloring in the flowers and leaves with various Stampin’ Blends markers, I colored in the background a little with the Light Pool Party color.  When you use these markers, just play!  You don’t have to stick with the pairs of colors, maybe use a pink and a light coral or a blue and a green and blend.  There are no rules!

For embellishments, I used a die cut from the Petals & More Thinlits Dies. Such a pretty little piece, maybe like a trellis, to use in so many ways.  The greeting comes from the stamp set, and I just hand cut the pointy ends. For fun I tried out the Tutti-frutti Adhesive-Backed Sequins!  How fun are these in bright, cute colors! And to make it easy, they already have adhesive on the back, like our Rhinestones or Pearls, so you just have to stick them down! No fooling with a dot of glue and getting the sequin in the right spot! And for a final touch I tied a bow with the Basic Black 3/8″ Shimmery Ribbon.

If my card looks a little bit familiar, it’s because I did “copy” a sample in the Occasions Catalog on page 22. I changed several things, but got the inspiration from the beautiful sample in the catalog. These are designed by the Stampin’ Up! artists, so you can copy and feel like a real artist yourself! If you aren’t sure what to stamp, start with a sample in one of the catalogs and that will get your creative juices flowing.

There are even more coordinating products in this Petal Passion Suite!  Check it all out in my Stampin’ Up! Online Store in the Occasions Catalog!

Party Pandas Birthday Card With Balloons

Party Pandas Birthday Card With Balloons

Celebrate a birthday with the Party Pandas! Make this fun and easy Party Pandas Birthday Card With Balloons to send to a child, an adult, a friend, a loved one, anyone! So many possibilities with this simple stamp set! And you can get it FREE!

Stampin’ Up! has their best promotion going on right now called Sale-A-Bration! All you have to do is spend $50 on any Stampin’ Up! products (which you know you are going to do anyway!) and then choose a FREE product in the Sale-A-Bration Brochure!  Lots of choices, you are sure to find something fun that you like!  I’m guessing that this Party Pandas Stamp Set is going to be one of the most popular sets during Sale-A-Bration!  Everyone seems to love pandas!

To make this card, I stamped the panda and his balloon with Memento Black Ink. I colored in the stamped balloon with my Bermuda Bay Stampin’ Blends Markers. For a little extra interest, I punched two balloons with the Balloon Bouquet Punch. One is made with Gold Glimmer Paper and one from the Picture Perfect Party Paper.  Then I just drew in the balloon strings down to the panda’s hand.  For the background I stamped the little confetti stamp in the coordinating colors of the Picture Perfect Party Paper. I decided to make the “Happy Birthday” greeting a little pennant that the panda is holding by using a cut toothpick for the stick!

That’s all there is to this easy Party Pandas Birthday Card With Balloons. So fun to make!

Remember, for every $50 you spend at Stampin’ Up!, from now through March 31, you can earn a FREE Sale-A-Bration product!  Let me know if you have any questions!  There’s a good deal for signing up to be a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator, too!

Painted With Love All-Occasion Card

Painted With Love All-Occasion CardMy big order from the new Occasions Catalog came late last night so I finally have a multitude of new Stampin’ Up! products to play with!  This new Painted With Love Specialty Designer Series Paper is so beautiful in person and will make all kinds of fantastic cards and other projects. This Painted With Love All-Occasion Card can serve as a card for almost any occasion or a Valentine or birthday or anniversary or whatever you like.

The Heart Happiness Photopolymer Stamp Set is one that we will be able to use in many ways with all the hearts! I decided to stamp this flowery heart in Melon Mambo, one of the coordinating colors with the designer paper.  I die cut the flowery heart with one of the sizes in the Sweet & Sassy Framelits Dies and then cut a larger heart out of Gold Foil.

The card base is Melon Mambo and then the striped pattern is layered on the other pattern with a thin Gold Foil strip in between.  The heart is popped up on Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I could have added a greeting or more embellishment, but I just kind of liked it “plain and simple” like this. Now I can use the card for whatever I choose when I need it or still leave it plain and write my own message on the inside. It’s a good idea when you make a card similar to this Painted With Love All-Occasion Card to just leave it plain without a greeting, and then when you need a card, just stamp a greeting and add to the card.

New Stampin’ Up! Narrow Note Cards For a Birthday

Stampin' Up! Narrow Note Cards For a Birthday

Something new in the Occasions Catalog that you might overlook (I did!) are the Whisper White Narrow Note Cards & Envelopes. These Narrow Note Cards are perfect for enclosure cards in gifts, perhaps for a birthday, as I have decorated these! Use them for a birthday, Valentines, in a wedding gift – whatever the occasion!

These note cards measure  2-1/2″ x 4-1/2″ and the envelopes measure  2-3/4″ x 4-3/4″. Going by the envelope size, I doubt that these are big enough to send in the mail.  You should check with your post office. If you did want to mail one of these Narrow Note Cards, you could just place the note card or even the note card in an envelope into a larger envelope and mail it that way. It looks to me that the post office requires an envelope (doesn’t matter the size of the card inside, it’s the envelope size) that is 3 1/2″ x 5″ at a minimum. Check this information HERE.

Now Stampin’ Up! also has the Whisper White Note Cards & Envelopes that we have always used.  They are also available in Very Vanilla.  These note cards are 3 1/2″ x 5″ and the envelopes are 1/8″ larger on each measurement so they are absolutely okay to mail. Here is a photo of the two kinds of note cards.

Stampin' Up! Note Cards Comparison

You can see some cards I made with the standard Note Cards & Envelopes HERE.

As you can see, the Narrow Note Cards have envelopes that run lengthwise and have a curved flap on the end!  Very cute!  I say have both kinds on hand!  Quick and easy to just stamp or embellish slightly and you are ready to go! They are really so handy! You don’t have to cut cardstock, just pull out a notecard, possible stamp a greeting (or not!), maybe stamp a cute image or pretty flower on the outside or add some designer paper and ribbon.  Who knows?  It’s all cute and easy!

These Narrow Note Cards (#145583) are great for quick and easy embellishing to add your personal touch to a gift or even just a little note you are going to hand someone or stick in a lunch bag, purse, suitcase, or briefcase! Yes, they even would hold a gift card!  I just tried! You will find them on page 19 in the Occasions Catalog. Really the photo is off the bottom of the page so you mostly only see the printed description.  But now you know that they are there! You get 20 for only $8.00 and that includes the cute envelopes!

To fancy up my Narrow Note Cards, I added a layer of the Picture Perfect Party Designer Series Paper and a greeting. The one card has a bow hand cut from another of the patterns with all the photographed bows for a little embellishment.

Today would be a good day to place an order for a 3-month Prepaid Paper Pumpkin subscription because today is the deadline for receiving the January 2018 Kit. Then you can add on the Narrow Note Cards & Envelopes, some designer paper, maybe a new stamp set and whatever else you like and collect a FREE Sale-A-Bration item with every $50 increment! And you would already earn a Free Sale-A-Bration product just with the Prepaid Paper Pumpkin Kits. You would have to pay shipping on the free item you chose, so to get best value, order a few other things as long as you are paying the shipping already!  That’s what I would do!

Quick and Easy Picture Perfect Party Birthday Cards

Quick and Easy Picture Perfect Party Birthday CardsWhen it comes to quick and easy cards, these Quick and Easy Picture Perfect Party Birthday Cards are about as easy as you can get!  The new Picture Perfect Party Designer Series Paper in the Occasions Catalog is just delightful! I didn’t know if I would really like the “photographic” imagery on the one side of all the sheets in the package, but I do!

Sometimes to get your creativity started when you are making a card, it’s a good idea to start with the catalog!  The Stampin’ Up! catalogs are just full of wonderful samples and you are welcome to copy! I suggest start off copying something you like and then make another card almost the same but change something up a bit.  Chances are, once you start making a card, you will come up with something on your own anyway!

The card on the left is one that I copied from the Occasions Catalog on page 4.  It’s even marked “Quick & Easy”!  Even when you are copying, you will probably find that you won’t copy exactly for whatever reason – maybe you don’t have the exact same supplies or you want to use another color or you want to use a different sentiment. Whatever it is, if you need a boost to your creative mojo, just start off copying something in the catalog! While I was trying to “copy” this card, I don’t have that Paper Ribbon used on the sample because Stampin’ Up! isn’t even selling it right now. There was a problem with the production in the factory so it will not be carried in the Online Store. That’s a shame, I thought that was something different and cute, but it was out of Stampin’ Up!’s control.

The sample card base is Peekaboo Peach layered with the Picture Perfect Party Designer Series Paper. This selection of paper comes in the 6″ x 6″ size. It’s really fun to page through and choose either one of the photographic images or the graphic pattern on the reverse side.  The greeting is stamped in Berry Burst with a greeting from the Picture Perfect Birthday Stamp Set. I substituted a piece of Berry Burst 1/2″ Finely Woven Ribbon.

The card on the right is one that I more or less copied from the first card but changed things up.  I chose the balloon paper in the Picture Picture Party pack and layered it on a piece of Berry Burst on top of the card base of Lemon Lime Twist card stock. I tied a piece of ribbon, the Lemon Lime Twist 1/4″ Ombre Ribbon around the layers before adhering to the card base.  The greeting is stamped with Lemon Lime Twist ink on a piece of cardstock the same color. For a little bling, I added some different colors and sizes of the Glitter Enamel Dots.

Copying or at least looking in the Stampin’ Up! catalogs is a great way to get some inspiration if you need it or you just enjoy looking at other samples. For some quick and easy cards, be sure to try some like these Quick and Easy Picture Perfect Party Birthday Cards.

Picture Perfect Party Cookie Card

Picture Perfect Party Cookie Card

I love the new Picture Perfect Party Suite in the Occasions Catalog, and I just made this super quick and easy simple card! It really only took minutes! I was hungry at the time, so I think that is why this cookie patterned paper caught my eye!  I was expecting to put some sort of birthday greeting on the card, but when I saw the “treat yourself” greeting I knew it was perfect!

The card base is Bermuda Bay Cardstock which coordinates with the Picture Perfect Party Designer Series Paper.  This designer paper is 6″ x 6″ and has a graphic image on one side and a photographic image on the other!  Quite trendy!  The photographs are really fun and festive, just like a party!  I chose the cookie plate, which I trimmed down to fit properly on this card base.  The greeting is from the Picture Perfect Birthday Stamp Set, which I really like!  Great greetings and fun stamps to make various images.  This greeting seemed like it would just fit perfectly in the corner of the paper, so I kept it simple and didn’t make it any more complicated than that. I just stamped it in the corner with Memento Ink.

Be sure to check out this Picture Perfect Party Suite in the Occasions Catalog and make a card like this fun cookie card! Does it make you hungry??!

Stampin’ Up! New Occasions Catalog Off to a Great Start!

Yesterday was such an exciting day with the premier of the new Stampin’ Up! Occasions Catalog plus the beginning of Sale-A-Bration! I’m still working on my order because of course I want way more than I can get at one time!

A couple of things:

  • The Picture Perfect Paper Ribbon on page 5 of the Occasions Catalog is no longer available. Businesses worldwide have been affected by some kind of factory issues and this cute ribbon is one of the products so delayed that Stampin’ Up! has decided to remove it from their offering.
  • In the Occasions Catalog on page 19, the number of sheets in the Painted Love Gold Vinyl Stickers is incorrect. The product includes 4 sheets: 2 each of 2 designs.
  • Something you might miss because it isn’t fully pictured on the page is the Scattered Sequins Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder #145649, way down in the right hand corner of page 13.
  • The Brusho Crystal Colour is not real obvious in the top corner of page 26. I’m really excited about trying these out! Real watercolor artists use these! If you get them, DO NOT open the lid!  They say the crystals are so fine that just opening the bottle will release them like a powder that will go everywhere! I think there is a warning on the box. It is recommended that you just take a pushpin or Paper Piercer and poke 1-3 holes in the lid without opening anything. Then leave the pushpin in the hole when you are finished using.  Use the bottles like a salt shaker!

Enjoy some more videos about the new products in the Occasions Catalog so you will know what you want to order (well, everything, but most of us can’t!)!

I hope you are loving all these exciting new products in the Occasions Catalog and planning your purchase so you can take best advantage of Sale-A-Bration!  Remember, with every $50 purchase you will earn a FREE Sale-A-Bration item from the special brochure.  Look for the $50 icon scattered through the brochure.  If you have a $100 order, maybe you want to choose one of the two $100 choices, identified with the $100 icon!  This is something new this year.  You could choose one $100 item or 2 $50 items and so on.  Let me know if you have any questions or need help deciding!

If you are new to Stampin’ Up! or haven’t ordered in awhile and would like the new catalogs, please email me at Karen@Karenstamps.com and I will get the catalogs in the mail to you, compliments of me! I would be happy to be your Demonstrator and help you with this wonderful hobby of ours!
