Make a Gift Bag for Mother’s Day!

Mother's Day Twitterpated Paper Gift Bag

Do you need a pretty gift bag for your Mother's Day gift…or really any occasion? You can use this design and just change out the paper for whatever person or occasion you want a gift bag for. If it's for a man, maybe leave off the paper flower but add a stamped image or greeting instead. You'll think of something!

I just found one of those small brown handled bags that you get now and then at the store.  If you save them, you'll always have a stash to go to when you need a nice gift bag.  Just choose 3 patterns from a pack of Stampin' Up! designer paper and cut one larger piece for the bottom section, one smaller piece for the top and  a piece to go across and cover up that line where the two papers meet and make a cute border. You could leave it as is or you could cut or punch a scalloped edge or whatever to jazz it up.

For my bag, I used three patterns out of the Twitterpated Designer Series Paper. For a pretty accent I added three buttons from the  Designer Buttons Subtles CollectionEach is tied with a small piece of White Baker's Twine. For something at the bottom corner of the bag, I chose to make a flower with the Flower Folds Die and the Big Shot using a pattern from the Twitterpated DSP.

Some of these items are on the Stampin' Up! Retired List so better do your shopping soon!  Anything on the list can sell out at any time so you don't want to be disappointed. Just click that link to go to my store with the retiring products and shop to your heart's content!

Design Your Designer Paper

Designing Designer Paper

Stampin' Up! Demonstrators receive a magazine from Stampin' Up! every other month packed with stamping and papercrafting ideas and Stampin' Up! news and offers. We all can't WAIT to receive our Stampin' Success Magazine when it comes out! In paging through some recent issues, I found this idea that jumped out at me…design your own designer paper!  On the left you see a sheet of the Patio Party Designer Series Paper…and on the right you see the same paper with the polka dots stamped with a small heart from the stamp set Itty Bitty Bits. Just a fun and different kind of idea and easy to do!

You can purchase the Patio Party Designer Series Paper while supplies last at a discount in the Retirement Sale at my Stampin' Up! Online Store.  As I've said before, it's a paper I didn't use very much but have grown to love!

Look through the designer paper you have and see what unusual ways you can use it! Then use it on a card or project!

New Products to Organize Your Stamps and Craft Storage!

Stampin' Up! is introducing their new storage cases for the wood-mount stamp sets that will be available in the new catalog!  Not only will the wood-mount stamp sets be packaged in these, but empty ones will be available for purchase for your other crafting storage needs!  They will fit with the stamp cases used for the clear-mount stamps. The stamp images and stamp set name will be on the spine, just like the clear-mount cases. If you like everything to match, you can purchase the new empty cases and transfer your current wood-mount stamps into those.  But Stampin' Up! has made a video with all kinds of uses for these new stamp cases!  Enjoy!

*Translated stamp sets are only available in clear-mount.

Quick and Easy Punch Tip for the Lazy Person!

Easy Punch Tip

Here’s an easy tip I accidentally discovered the other day when I was too lazy to get up and find a scrap piece of Daffodil Delight card stock! I had a piece of Whisper White card stock handy, so I grabbed a Daffodil Delight Stampin’ Write Marker and scribbled a solid blob of color on the Whisper White. Then I punched the shape out of it with my Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack #118309. I was using it for the flower on the hat of my punch art leprechaun in THIS post.

Just think about it….if you didn’t have a certain color of card stock but you had the marker, you can color on a piece of Whisper White or Very Vanilla card stock and use that to punch or maybe even to stamp on.  Then you can punch or cut and you have the color you want! It might not work in all cases, but if you just don’t want to get up from the table, this might be a handy tip!  Especially if you have Shimmery White card stock or the Watercolor paper where you can play with color a little bit, you might color with a couple different colors in an area, maybe even spritz them…just experiment, and see what you come up with! Now I think I want to go play more with this idea!

Stamping is for fun!

Don’t forget, Sale-A-Bration ends Friday, March 22……that is THIS coming Friday! Be sure to get your order in! Contact me, or put it in online yourself at my Online Store! Be sure you see my name in the upper right corner of my store, then you know you are in the right place!  Also, check the categories in the left sidebar of the store, such as “New Arrivals” or “Clearance Rack” so you can take advantage of every offer you want!  With every $50 purchase, you get to choose one FREE Sale-A-Bration product!

Don’t Forget to Put the New Photopolymer Stamps on Your Stampin’ Up! Order!

The new Designer Typeset Photopolymer stamp set is available, so be sure to put it on your next Stampin' Up! order! Photopolymer might be a mouthful, but you will want to try it out!

Clear stamps have been available from other companies, but I've heard that some of them did not stamp a clear image like Stampin' Up!'s rubber. Stampin' Up! says they have searched for the right material and they have found it!

These will only be offered on a trial basis and not for any set period of time, so if you see something you like, you better get it then! If you love clear stamps, buy these so Stampin' Up! will produce more! Right now just this one set is available but they hope to release more in the coming months.

Designer Typeset Photopolymer Stamp Set  #132956       $13.95

Recommend clear blocks A, B, G, F, and I. Purchase separately.

Includes 57 pieces. (Don't faint! This is a good overwhelming feeling.)

I hope you enjoy the video.  You'll see some of the wonderful Stampin' Up! employees, get glimpses of the Stampin' Up! home office in Riverton, UT and and at the end see a bit of the beautiful atrium lobby!

Add these new photopolymer stamps to your next order before March 22 and they might bring you closer to a $50 ( or more!) purchase which entitles you to a free product during Sale-A-Bration!  But only through March 22!

Stampin’ Up! On Trend with Window Frames Framelits

Mirrors
When I saw this photo of mirrors from a 2013 home decor market for store buyers, I immediately thought of the Window Frames Framelits that Stampin’ Up! had in the Holiday Catalog and which are carried over in the new Spring Catalog (page 36). You can see that Stampin’ Up! is on trend with the latest and greatest in design so our cards and projects will look up-to-date and in style!
And what new stamp do we have in the Stampin’ Up! Spring Catalog?  The Just Thinking single stamp that fits the Window Frames Framelits perfectly!
Just Thinking Stamp
If you want a Spring Catalog to browse and ooh and aah over, please email me. I’ll also enclose the upcoming Sale-A-Bration brochure. And when you are ready to shop, you can do it at your convenience at my Stampin’ Up! Online Store here.

Pinwheel Sizzlit Cloudy Day Embossing Folder Card

Pinwheel and Cloud Embossing Folder Card

I tried out my new Pinwheel Sizzlit Die yesterday and used the Cloudy Day Embossing Folder for the background on my card. Both of these products can be found in the new Stampin’ Up! Spring Catalog. If you don’t have a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator and would like a copy of the Spring Catalog, please email me.  I’ll be happy to mail one to you. Be sure to scroll down to see my little tutorial on using the Pinwheel die.

The Pinwheel Sizzlit Die was really fun to play with! Just put a little piece of paper over the die, run it through your Big Shot Die-Cutting Machine, and you have a pre-cut pinwheel to work with!

Pinwheel Sizzlits Die

I found that if I curled the paper a bit with my Bone Folder, it made it easier to fold the corners over to the center. Just a tiny bit, to loosen up the paper.

Pinwheel Die Cut

Then, using your Stampin’ Pierce Mat and the Paper-Piercing Tool, fold the corners with the little holes in them over to line up with the center hole in the die-cut. You can use the Paper-Piercing Tool to keep them lined up. While holding the corners in place as best you can, remove the piercing tool and insert a brad through the center hole. Unfold the brad on the back and press down securely to flatten.

Pinwheel Sizzlits Die Corners

It’s fun making pinwheels, and won’t they really give your cards and scrapbook pages a feeling of spring….when spring arrives!

The little greeting on my card is a stamp set in the Spring Catalog called Ciao, Baby! It is punched out with a new punch coming during Sale-A-Bration (Jan. 22 – Mar. 22), Petite Curly Label Punch. It seemed to still need something, so I punched a scrap piece of paper with the Word Window Punch, cut out a section for the middle to give me two shorter pieces and used those for the ends.

Hearts a Flutter Just for You Card

Hearts a Flutter Just for You Card

I’m trying to do some stamping today with my “new stuff” from the new Stampin’ Up! Spring Catalog that just came out yesterday, so I copied a card that was in our demonstrator magazine, Stampin’ Success. I love the cute little banner made with the Hearts a Flutter stamp set and Hearts a Flutter Framelits Dies.  The center panel of the card is embossed with the Honeycomb Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. These products come in a bundle, the Hearts a Flutter Bundle, which saves you 15%! You might as well get both….I’m sure they will be a big hit!  Remember, hearts aren’t just for Valentine’s Day.  This card could be a valentine, a birthday card, an all-occasion card, even home decor! Be sure to check out the really cute little chalkboard in a frame on page 11 of the Spring Catalog showing a little banner using these stamps and framelits. If you need a Spring Catalog, please email me if you don’t have your own demonstrator. I’d be happy to mail one to you…and the Sale-A-Bration brochure, too!

My stamping supplies are still scattered around in different locations due to Christmas decorating so stamping today is more like a scavenger hunt!  What should I get organized first??!

Use this banner idea on a scrapbook page as well!  Just think of a card as a small scrapbook page!

Sweet Pressed Cookie Stamps…Easy Cookie Baking!

Sweet Pressed Cookies

It may be Black Friday, but if you are not into that shopping craziness it would be a good day to stay home and read over the Stampin' Up! Online Extravaganza shopping list! There are so many great bargains on there, discounts from 20% – 50% off regular price! You'll notice that one set…Special Events…. of the Sweet Pressed Cookie Stamps is on the list at 30% off!

It's been over a year now that Stampin' Up! came out with these Sweet Pressed Cookie Stamps! I'm not an experienced dough baker…..I can mix up some cookie dough and then drop globs on a cookie sheet and bake, but I've never been good with cookie cutters and rolling pins and all that. But the Stampin' Up! Sweet Pressed Cookie Stamps are easy to use! I had a friend coming from out of town and of course I was making these at the last minute in between trying to finish cleaning the house….so I was under a lot of pressure!  Normally that would guarantee the 'fancy" cookies not turning out at all. But, honestly, I whipped these out with no trouble and they tasted great!  I'm not saying I took time to make them look REALLY nice (like trimming the edges if I didn't get the stamp centered properly), but they turned out! That's all I cared about….having some home-baked cookies that tasted good!

Sweet Pressed Cookie Stamp one

These still basically met my "drop cookie" method of baking….just take a glob of dough, roll it in a ball, put it on the cookie sheet and stamp! The main tip is to ALWAYS dip the stamp into a bowl of sugar (or maybe flour) EACH TIME before you stamp and you won't have much trouble with dough sticking to the stamp.

I didn't take much time for decorating either which would have been nice!  I might even have some special cookie glitter (not to be confused with Dazzling Diamonds Glitter!!), but there was no time for that.  I just sprinkled on some cinnamon sugar and some sprinkles and called it good!

Sweet Pressed Cookie Stamp with Sugar

The recipe comes in the box with the stamps, and the cookies are delicious.  My friend even commented that they lasted well over a couple of days (since we really didn't eat them all the first night!)

Before you start your holiday cookie baking, consider these Sweet Pressed Cookie Stamps from Stampin' Up! While all the designs are fun, it is the Special Events set that is on sale right now during the Stampin' Up! Online Extravaganza 30% off! Add them to your Online Order HERE.

New Stampin’ Up! Paper Trimmer!!!

SU Paper Trimmer

Finally the new Stampin' Up! Stampin' Trimmer is available! It was featured in the Stampin' Up! Annual Catalog, but just was not available until now. You can see some close-up photos of it in the catalog on page 180. I can't believe they packed so many features into one product! One of my favorites is that the base is larger so that for most of your common cuts, you won't even need to extend the ruler. Also, there is space for both the cutting blade and the scoring blade, so I'm actually using the scoring blade right after making my cut and not having to reach for my bone folder.

Watch the video by Brian Pilling of Stampin' Up!

Here is the list from Stampin' Up!:

Features of the All-New Stampin' Trimmer

  • An extra-wide 6-1/4" cutting base and an extended 14-1/2" ruler
    • The extra-wide cutting base provides a large work area and is marked in 1/4" (4 mm) increments, allowing for small measurements.
    • The right-side grid helps you measure and cut very thin strips.
    • The extended cutting arm has a stabilizing leg to provide a sturdy and steady cutting surface for longer cuts.
    • When fully extended, the extended cutting arm sits flush with the trimmer base, providing more accurate and consistent measurements across the entire surface.
    • The cutting base and track include a full ruler, incorporating measurements down to 1/16" and grid lines that mark each quarter inch.
    • All rulers and measurements on the base are printed under a plastic cover so your measurements won't wear off.
    • The base has nonskid feet, which keeps the Stampin' Trimmer securely in place on your work area.
  • A full 12" cutting and scoring track
    • The extra-long cutting track has space at the top and bottom so you don't have to take the cutting and scoring blades out when you're not using them.
    • The track gives you enough space to cut or score a full 12" (30.5 cm) without having to remove or switch out handles.
    • The cutting track locks in place for secure storage or transport.
    • The track includes an insertion point for cutting and scoring blade handles so you can easily insert handles into the cutting track.
  • Specially designed handles and cutting track to ensure straight cuts
    • The hook on the scoring and cutting blade handles keeps the handles stable so the cuts are as straight as possible.
    • Handles come in two colors: dark for cutting, light for scoring.
    • The precision tip on the cutting blade allows you to pinpoint precisely where you're cutting.
    • The point on the side of each handle shows you where the blade will cut, making it easy to see exactly where your cuts and scores will begin.
  • Storage compartment under base
    • The storage compartment holds scoring and cutting tools such as a Bone Folder, Simply Scored Stylus, extra scoring and cutting blades, and even business cards.
    • Separate compartments within the storage compartment keep your tools organized, and the clear cover makes it easy to see what you've stored.
    • Product details: item 126889; $29.95

If you want to be one of the first customers to own the new Stampin' Trimmer, just go to my Online Store and place your order!

Ornament Keepsakes Paper-Pierced Christmas Card

Ornament Keepsakes Paper Piercing Card
Stampin’ Up! gives us so many options for designing our handmade Christmas cards and other projects. One of the big trends right now is paper-piercing. If you look closely at my card, stamped with the Ornament Keepsakes stamp set, you can see three different styles of paper-piercing.  On the Gumball Green ornament, I went around the outside. On the Cherry Cobbler ornament I made a circle inside the ornament, and on the Baja Breeze ornament the piercing is on the center design. Then I free-handed piercing for the ornament strings up to the top of the card.
The Paper Piercing Tool is very handy to have!
