Lovely Blossoms Hot Foil Birthday Card

Lovely Blossoms Hot Foil Birthday Card

After all my hot foiling and diecutting the other day, this Lovely Blossoms Hot Foil Birthday Card is one I made after trying out hot foiling on a piece of the Lovely Blossoms Designer Series Paper. I could have cut out the hot foiled “Happy Birthday” sentiment, but I decided to leave it as is and make it into a card with the designer series paper being the background layer.

The card base is Cloud Cover Cardstock, one of the In Colors. I trimmed down the foiled designer paper to 3 3/4″ x 5″ so I could add a layer of Basic White underneath to help the paper stand out a little. Then I looked through the Lovely Blossoms DSP to see if I wanted to cut out a little flower to cover a messy foil spot on the card. I found this combination of two flowers and decided to fussy-cut them. As it turned out, I liked the way it looked underneath the birthday greeting (made with the Classic Greetings Hot Foil Dies) so I adhered it flat to the card. I considered popping it up on Mini Dimensionals. That would be okay, too.

To cover the little smudge of gold foil, I added some white dots from the Moody Palette Glossy Dots. They worked perfectly and look just right on the card. Hot foiling gives such an elegant and professional look to your cards! It’s surprising every time!

Lovely Blossoms Squares Hello Card

Don’t forget about the Stampin’ Up! Designer Series Paper and Cardstock Sale going on now through the rest of August! There are still wonderful choices of designer series paper available at a 15% discount, but don’t delay too long! This card was made with small pieces of the Lovely Blossoms Designer Series Paper, which is on sale! This paper has white blooms in all sizes, along with the more generic “other sides” of the paper. Plus, there are two sheets of “cut-apart” images from larger size to small with which to make all kinds of card designs, scrapbook pages, and other papercrafting projects, maybe even as framed home decor!

This card, the Lovely Blossoms Squares Hello Card, uses the smallest little squares of different designs on one of the cut-apart sheets. I saw a Stampin’ Up!® video showing the designer series paper on the paper sale, and they talked about the little squares. I hadn’t really thought about making a card with those, so I decided I would try it!

The card base is Cloud Cover cardstock and I covered the entire front of the card base with the designer paper, cut at 5 1/2″ x 4 1/4″ instead of the uusal 5 1/4″ x 4″. Then I just played around with all the cut-apart squares, which are 2″ x 2″ until I had a design I liked. They are all just glued down flat on the card.

For the greeting, I didn’t want to take up too much room on the card and cover the little squares, so I found one of the hot-foiled greetings I had already made with the Sweetly Sentimental Hot Foil Dies in gold. It was a good size to leave the focus on the rest of the card design. I could have “jazzed up” this card a little bit more but I kind of liked the simplicity of it with the little squares.

Lovely Blossoms Hello Friend Card

Lovely Blossoms Hello Friend Card

This Lovely Blossoms Hello Friend Card is a very easy card to make, and the artwork makes it beautiful. If you have seen other designer papers with “cut-apart” images, like the Love Notes 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper, this is some of the same. This Lovely Blooms Designer Series Paper has images of lots of white blooms and a palette of colors of light pink, green and navy. Navy is really Secret Sea, a color I haven’t used much, so I’m glad to have some papers with which I can use more of it. The smaller images on several sheets can be cut apart, trimmed down to whatever size you want or left as is for your cardmaking and scrapbooking projects.

For this card, I used a base of Old Olive with a layer of Secret Sea. I chose the section of the designer paper with the white flowers on the Secret Sea background but I trimmed it down to fit on the card. The Secret Sea layer is 4″ x 5 1/4″ and the floral layer is 3 3/4″ x 5″.

For the greeting, I stamped “Hello Friend” in the Lovely Arrangements Stamp Set in Secret Sea ink on a scrap strip of Basic White cardstock. I cut a little flagged end on the left side and lined up the right side with the edge of the designer paper. It is popped up with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Also a part of this Lovely Blossoms Suite Collection in the Online Exclusives is a pack of Moody Palette Glossy Dots. I used three of the Old Olive Dots on the front of the card. This is the nice part of a Suite. You know exactly what things go well with what!

Right now the Lovely Arrangements Bundle (stamp set and dies) is out of stock but is expected back the week of January 26th. You can buy the other items separately without waiting to buy the whole Suite. If you are interested in that Bundle or the separate items, go to their listing in the Online Store and sign up for the email that will alert you that it is back in stock.

If you like making quick and easy cards, this Lovely Blossoms Designer Series Paper is one to have on hand!
