Easter Triangle Treat Box with Bunny

If you have been around for a while, you know I have made MANY of these triangle boxes for various occasions and made them in multiple sizes! They are so easy yet look so cute! If you want an Easter treat box, try this Easter Triangle Treat Box with Bunny.

Here’s how to make one and then just decorate however you like!

Triangle Box Drawing

For this Easter triangle box, I used a piece of the Country Floral Lane Designer Series Paper. (It’s not just for Valentines!) It is cut at 4″ x 8″ but you can vary the size. Use the diagram above to see how to score, but it is simple! At each end of the paper, put a light pencil mark at the halfway point which in this case would be 2″. Score the paper in half at 4″. Then in that awkward manner, with your Paper Trimmer, score from that 2″ middle point at one end down to the middle score line which will be on a diagonal. Do that on both sides of one end, then turn the paper and score at the other end in the same way.

Now fold and crease all the score lines. You will see how it will fold together to make the triangle box. Determine which side will be the front or top of your box that you will want to decorate and how the flaps will go so that the top view of the box will have the fold of the flaps showing and not the open side. Pay attention to the pattern direction if it matters. Once you see how it folds together how you like, you can use any hole punch to punch holes in the sides near the top. You want the two holes on each side to align. This is how your paper should look creased and with holes punched.

To decorate, I stamped one of the bunnies in the Easter Bunny Stamp Set in Memento Ink and colored with the Soft Suede Combo of Stampin’ Blends markers. I cut out the bunny and popped him up over a Balmy Blue scalloped circle die in the Layering Circles Dies. I already had some extra stamped and colored Easter eggs and a carrot from another project so I just adhered those to the front.

After adding some treats or a small gift inside the triangle box, just close it up and tie a ribbon through the holes you already punched. I used the White 3/8″ Glittered Organdy Ribbon because it’s white and it’s festive and pretty!

You can see what the triangle box will look like from the side.

I’ve made these triangle boxes for Halloween, Christmas, and just for fun! Here’s a Halloween one if you want to see another idea! You really could make an extra-long box, also, just follow the basic scoring directions – score in half and score diagonally from there to the middle point of the end, on each end.

If you want to do something different than an Easter basket, try making something like this Easter Triangle Box with a Bunny on the front!

Christmas Tree Triangle Box in Neutral

Christmas Tree Triangle Box in Neutral

It’s time to be wrapping packages this close to Christmas! If you need something cute for a small gift or treat, this easy triangle box might be just the thing for you! I’ve made a lot of them and they really are easy. Then you decorate however you like.

These are the basic instructions for how to make a Triangle Box:

  • Cut card stock in half lengthwise:  4 1/4″ x 11″
  • Score at 5 1/2″.
  • Mark the center of the strip on both ends at 2 1/8″ with a pencil mark.
  • Score with the Paper Trimmer at an angle, putting that center pencil mark on the track on the Paper Trimmer while also lining up the middle score line on that track.
  • Score both sides of the paper and both ends of the paper. That will make two triangles, one on each half of the paper.
  • Fold all the score lines and put the box together.
  • At the top point of the box punch holes for the ribbon to go through.

Somewhere I saw an idea like this: using a neutral color and a white pen to make the triangle box look like a Christmas tree. Of course, I couldn’t find it again, but I’m happy with my own version!

I chose Crumb Cake Cardstock for the neutral-colored tree. Before assembling, I just drew little white lines with a white gel pen to make it look like tree needles, I suppose. To tie the top closed I used a Gold & Vanilla 3/8″ Satin Edged Ribbon.

For the top of the tree, I found a retired star punch and some retired gold glitter paper (you could use Gold Foil Sheets, too). I punched a couple of extra gold stars and decided to use them on the front of the tree. It still needed a little more, so I used the Adhesive Backed Season Sequins in gold to fill in the tree.

Now the triangle box is ready to put a gift or treat inside and then tie up the bow at the top! Try one and see how easy it is! You could emboss the cardstock before assembling it if you like. Decorate one for any occasion!

These triangle boxes are so fun and easy to make. I have made lots of them over the years for different holidays or occasions but I may not have ever made one for Easter like this Triangle Box Easter Bunny Treat. All you need is a piece of paper and then score it according to directions. You can vary the size of the paper depending on what size treat box you want. Put some candy or a small gift inside for a fun treat!

My Basic White cardstock is cut at 4″ x 8″. Use the diagram below to see how to score, but it is simple! At each end of the cardstock, put a light pencil mark at the halfway point which in this case would be 2″. Score the paper in half at 4″. Then in that awkward manner, with your Paper Trimmer, score from that 2″ middle point at one end down to the middle score line which will be on a diagonal. Do that on both sides of one end, then turn the paper and score at the other end in the same way.

To decorate my Easter Bunny treat box, I used punches that are retired now but you can use whatever you have. There is the Double Oval Punch or maybe you have retired punches and dies that you can use….or simply cut out by hand! For the ears, I punched a large oval for the white ear and then I found the 2021-23 In Color Shimmer Vellum that I have and have barely used! It’s on the Last-Chance List and even on sale! To attach the ears to the box, I simply scored a bottom portion of the ears and folded then adhered each to the box. You can use Multipurpose Liquid Glue but you will have to hold it in place for a few moments.

For the eyes, I punched 1/2″ circles with my old punch and colored in the black portion. I had originally drawn them right on the box but later I smeared the ink somehow so I covered that mess up with the punched eyes! “There are no mistakes in stamping!” I think it looks better this way! The nose is a little larger than I planned on but I used one of the hearts in the Sweet Hearts Dies. I had to have something a little large since I attached these whiskers. If you have been papercrafting for any length of time you probably have a heart die or punch somewhere in your stash or you can just cut one by hand. The mouth is just drawn on with the Black Stampin’ Blend marker.

After putting your treat or gift inside the box, you can tie it closed with either an inconspicuous piece of ribbon or do as I did and use a larger bow that matches my bunny colors that looks somewhat like a bow tied on the bunny’s head! My pink colors are the In Color Polished Pink in the paper and ribbon. The ribbon is the 3/8″ Open Weave Ribbon. Such pretty ribbon in all the In Colors! Luckily these In Color ribbons are carrying over into the new Annual Catalog!

That’s it for making a triangle box! Here is another example in THIS POST. Just decide on the size of paper you want to use, score in half, score on the diagonal to each end from that scoreline, punch holes if you want to be able to tie it shut, and decorate as I did in this Triangle Box Easter Bunny Treat.

This may look slightly fancy, but it is really an easy treat box to make! This one was especially easy since it was white cardstock and I just stamped ghosts and spiders on it!

You can vary the size once you know how to make this box, but these are the measurements of the sample I made. I used a piece of Basic White Cardstock that is 4″ x 8″. Actually, there is no reason you couldn’t make it 4 1/4″ x 8 1/2″ so you don’t have to cut off a 1/2″ strip! But you’ll see after you make it.

Score the strip of paper in the center at 4″. Then on each end, make a pencil mark in the center at 2″. This part may seem tricky, but it really is not. Place the paper on your Paper Trimmer so you can score at a diagonal from that 2″ center mark down to the center scoreline.   Just angle the paper on your Stampin’ Trimmer so that both the center score line and the center point on the end are on the track on the Trimmer and then score. See the diagram below.

Crease all the score lines and see how your box will go together. Determine which area will be the top of the box and then you can stamp on it or decorate. I used the Cutest Halloween Stamp Set to stamp several ghosts and spiders. The greeting is stamped on a strip of Basic White and then I just flagged the ends with my scissors and adhered it with Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals.

With whatever hole punch you have (or a sharp object!) punch holes in the pointy end so that you can insert ribbon and tie it shut. Be sure to put your candy or gift inside first! I used the Black & White 1/4″ Gingham Ribbon.

You can make these triangle boxes smaller or larger. Here is one I made three years ago! I think they are fun to make because they are really so easy and so versatile. You can make them for any occasion!
