Back Home from Stampin’ Up! Leadership 2012

Oh my!  It's hard to come back down to earth after a Stampin' Up! event, especially one like Stampin' Up! Leadership 2012!  The withdrawal was eased a little bit yesterday when my new Stampin' Success, the magazine for Stampin' Up! demonstrators, was in the pile of mail!

I've been looking through my photos and decided to start with one of my favorite displays.  These were in the room where we did Make & Takes the first night.  We used the Blossom Builders Designer Printed Kit #125410, in the Occasions Mini Catalog, which is a cute set of double-sided, printed, die-cut flowers on textured paper PLUS an assortment of pink rhinestones to add some bling! You have to put it on your next order!

Enjoy!

Houston Texans Playoff Game #2

Houston Texans Playoff Game

It worked last week so I am hoping it will work again this week!  The Houston Texans have their second playoff game today against the Baltimore Ravens in Baltimore, so maybe this card will bring them good luck again! This is the first time the Houston Texans have advanced to the playoffs so this is a big deal, to say the least, in Houston!

This card was made digitally in My Digital Studio, the digital papercrafting software from Stampin' Up!  Easy to learn and fun to work in…..everyone should have it!  And more downloads come out every Tuesday!

This has been a big sports weekend for Houston with the Olympic Marathon Trials on Saturday, choosing three men and three women from a field of hundreds to go to the Olympics in London this summer. Today is the "regular" Chevron Houston Marathon….if any marathon can be "regular"……always an important and fun event in Houston whether you are running or watching from the sidelines or TV…..and then the big Texans game at noon!

I heard the commentator mention yesterday one of the women runners kept a scrapbook for her baby daughter so someday when she is older she will know what her mother accomplished!  Would you think marathons and scrapbooking would go together?!

A Scrapbook Page for Thanksgiving

After all the turkey is eaten and the last of the leftovers are put away and the kitchen cleaned up, why not make some scrapbook pages of your Thanksgiving Day?  It only takes minutes if you do it in My Digital Studio.  If you prefer, make them the traditional way with card stock and embellishments.  It will be something to treasure for years to come. Maybe your guests will want to help or make their own little album!

I hope you all have a wonderful and blessed Thankgiving!

A Week of Halloween–Top Note Halloween Album

It's fun to make a little album with the Top Note die , especially for Halloween.  Here I used Halloween paper from last year to make a little album for my niece and her grandma to make a little Halloween scrapbook mini album. Just cut out your page shapes from chipboard and paper and decorate to your heart's content!

Pocketful of Posies Card

Stampin' Up! has such beautiful designer series paper, but don't you just hate it when you have to cut in to a piece of paper that would make a beautiful scrapbook page on its own? Here is one of those pages that I used a portion off the left side for a project. This paper is from Pocketful of Posies Designer Series Paper #122354.  I LOVE this paper!!

Pocketful of Posies Designer Paper

After looking in the Stampin' Up! 2011-12 Idea Book & Catalog for inspiration, on page 184 I found that they used this designer series paper to make several small cards.  That led to designing this card:

Pocketful of Posies Designer Series Paper Card

You can see the corner of the paper I cut off and mounted on Poppy Parade on top of a card base of Crumb Cake.  Then I just added a greeting and I had a cute card!  I'm sure I can make something with the big bird on the remaining paper, too!

Speaking of designer series paper, don't forget about the special promotion going on for only about ten more days!!  Buy 3 packs of designer series paper, get one FREE!  Can't beat that!  Go to my Online Store right now and start choosing your paper!

Happy Birthday Lucille Ball!

Lucille-ball

Whenever I hear one of those questions like "What famous person, dead or alive, would you most like to meet?" or "What celebrity would you like to have dinner with?" I realize I am not too starstruck because there aren't many names I would use to answer that question.  But Lucille Ball would be one of them!

Today would have been her 100th birthday and 60 years after she started her famous television show "I Love Lucy".  The show first aired in October 1951.  I don't know when I first started watching it, but to hear "I Love Lucy" or to hear the theme music of that show takes me back to my childhood.  The show was on at 9:30 am, which means I could only watch it during the summer (if I was up early enough) or on days when I was home sick.  Even if I was sick, it wasn't too bad to get to stay home and lay on the couch and watch "I Love Lucy"!  I can't imagine how many times I saw those episodes over and over and over again….and they were always hilarious!  In later years, Lucy had some shows with Ethel that were shown in the evenings.  My family and I loved those too!

There is a new exhibit that just opened dedicated to the "I Love Lucy" show at the Library of Congress.  Raymond White, the curator of the exhibit, said,  “The Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz papers at the Library of Congress provide a unique opportunity to view the development of the show from the perspective of their family–in terms of the items that were preserved in the family scrapbooks, and this was our point of departure for the exhibit,” he says. “…the scrapbooks contained a wealth of materials documenting the early careers of Ball and Arnaz…and a treasure trove of photographs that present the extremely photogenic Ball and Arnaz in the height of 1940s Hollywood glamour.”

So you never know where your scrapbooks might end up!  Consider the importance they might have in history!

Click HERE for more information on the Library of Congress exhibit. Sounds to me like scrapbooking played an important role!

Flower Fest 6×6 Card or Scrapbook Pages

Flower Fest 6x6 Card

Gotta love this Flower Fest stamp set!  And I suddenly went crazy for Poppy Parade, a year after that In Color came out!  Better late than never!

We made this 6"x6" card in a workshop this weekend.  When I do a workshop and don't know if I have scrapbookers attending, sometimes I like to make this 6×6 project….it can be used as is as a card, perhaps adding some photos to the front or inside…or it can be cut apart and you have two 6"x6" scrapbook pages!  If you work with larger scrapbook pages, you can always add this 6×6 piece to a larger piece of paper, adding more photo boxes or journaling or embellishments.  Very easy.  You could also frame this, if you didn't want it for a card or a scrapbook page.

Flower Fest 6x6 Card Inside

Here is the inside, just stamped with Poppy Parade ink, and a So Saffron Flower Fest flower cut and punched and sponged with Poppy Parade ink.  I forgot we actually have a punch for this flower…I made the ladies cut out the bottom flower by hand!  Oops!  They would have rather had a punch I'm sure.  But it is okay to cut with a scissors and not get worried about perfection!

Using Eyelets on Chipboard Letters

Here's an idea for using those cute eyelets and Crop-a-Dile I don't think we have used much recently!  Whether you use your chipboard letters plain or inked in some color or covered with patterned paper, use your eyelets to decorate the letters.  Maybe place one or two eyelets on each chipboard letter here and there just for an extra embellishment.  You can then use these on your cards, scrapbook pages or other projects.  It will be fun!

More Baby Scrapbook Pages 6×6

Here are some more pages from the baby scrapbook I made.  Some materials and stamps may be retired but you can easily substitute something similar.  You can copy the layout ideas or just get your creative juices flowing! These smaller albums are so much fun to make! Just slip the pages you make into the clear page protectors in the album.

Baby Scrapbook Page 6

Use the Pinking Hearts Corner Punch #118072 to make a decorative corner.

Baby Scrapbook Page 7

Make your own designer paper by stamping…and this stamp even comes from what could be considered a Valentine stamp set! (I think it is a retired stamp set)

Baby Scrapbook Page 8

Designer paper from Nursery Suite Specialty #117165.  I don't remember where I got the punch art giraffe idea, but you can google it and probably find one to your liking.

Baby Scrapbook Page 9

These are die-cuts from an old Simply Scrappin' Kit but you can find something similar in the current catalog.  Love the Simply Scrappin' Kits!

Baby Scrapbook Page 10

Might be retired stamp sets but you can use the idea!  The hearts are cut with the Scalloped Heart of Hearts Embosslits Die #117332 and the Full Heart Punch #119883.

Baby Scrapbook Last Page

I usually like to make the last page in a baby album something about sleeping!

Even though this is a 6×6 album, to make a larger page, just take the same layout ideas and make them larger!  There's probably always a little something extra you can add, too!  Have fun with it!

Contact me if you have any questions!

Stampin’ Up! Baby Scrapbook Album

Baby scrapbook albums are so much fun to make!  I've made them for gifts and as special orders for other people. Whether you start with just a generic baby theme or choose something special, such as nursery colors, you just need to start, and as you play around with your pages and layouts, creativity will come! You can get many Stampin' Up! ideas for layouts just by looking at the Idea Book & Catalog. This scrapbook is made with the 6×6 Natural Linen Post Album #104515 (it also comes in a Ring album if you prefer). Some stamp sets and materials I used are retired, but you can easily substitute something similar.

Baby Scrapbook Cover

For the album cover decoration I usually like to just tie some ribbon around the cover and attach a tag of some kind.  This one is the 1/2" Stitched-Poly Ribbon laid over 5/8" Grosgrain Ribbon.

BabySBp1

I used the Scallop Trim Corner and Scallop Trim Border Punches to this photo mat….best to just start with a piece of paper and punch, not expecting a certain size.  I added tiny Pearls in between the scallops.  The flower is made with the Daisies #2 Die and the Big Shot.

Baby Scrapbook Page 2

I think these pieces are from a retired Simply Scrappin' Kit (which are fabulous for making scrapbooks!).

Baby Scrapbook Page 3

Stamps from Animal Stories #116716 and designer paper from Nursery Suite Specialty #117165.

Baby Scrapbook Page 4

I made my own designer paper by stamping randomly on Whisper White card stock with Fox & Friends.

Baby Scrapbook Page 5

The baby's name is stamped with the Broadsheet Alphabet set.

More pages tomorrow! Click on the photos to enlarge.
