Valentine Votive Candle Holder

Need a quick and easy little gift for Valentine's Day?  All you need is a votive candle holder and some paper, ink and stamps….maybe a punch….maybe the Big Shot!

Valentine Votive Candle

You probably have these little glass votive candle holders around your house, or if you need to buy some they are easy to find.  All you need to do basically is wrap some paper around the glass and decorate!  I chose to emboss the Stampin' Up! White Vellum Card Stock #101856 with the Finial Press Embossing Folder #115963.  That looked so pretty just by itself!  And of course I had to use the Red Glimmer Paper #121790 in the Occasions Mini Catalog because it is so beautiful to punch a large heart….and no glitter falls off!  Again, it was plenty pretty with just the heart on the vellum!  I tried tying various ribbons around the middle but nothing seemed quite right.  Then I stamped the greeting with the "Be My Valentine" stamp #122045 in Real Red and just cut out the banner. Seemed perfect to me as a finishing touch!  There are lots of easy valentine craft ideas and this is one of them!  Wouldn't this be a great valentine craft for kids?!

Valentine Triangle Treat Box

Valentine Triangle Box

One of my blog readers today asked me about triangle boxes, and after cutting and folding a piece of paper to refresh my memory on how to describe to her how to make one, I thought why not make one for Valentine's Day!

After scoring and folding, I ran the paper through my Big Shot in the Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder #117335.  I would say that embossing folder makes anything look good, but then I would say that for all of the embossing folders!  The decoration on the front is made with a stamp from the "Love You Much" stamp set #113756.  That's a cute set!  To make it a little fancier, I stamped the image twice so I could punch out the "hugs & kisses" with the 1" Circle Punch and a layer for that with the 1 1/4" Circle Punch.  I also stamped the heart again and just cut it out with my Paper Snips (you've got to have those for cutting little things!!).  You can pop up whichever layers you want with Stampin' Dimensionals.

Here is a view of the box from the side so you can see what it looks like.

Valentine Triangle Box

And here is the basic format for making the triangle box.  You can make any size you need.  My paper happens to be 4" x 11", scored in the middle at 5 1/2".  Measure at each end to find the center and put a pencil mark.  Then score on a diagonal from the center fold edges to that midpoint on each end.  Fold on all the scored lines and fold into your triangle box.  See where you want to punch the holes on the side flaps where you will tie the ribbon to hold the box closed.

Triangle Box Folds

Just stamp or decorate your box how you want and put a treat in it!

Valentine Favor Tin

Having some of these little favor tins left over from our daughter's wedding, I thought I should decorate one for Valentine's Day.  They really are handy little things to have on hand!  What cute valentine gifts or valentine favors these will make!

Valentine Favor Tin

Valentine Tin

Supplies:

Stamps:  Teeny Tiny Wishes (greeting), Clearly for You (Occasions Mini)

Paper:  Red Glimmer Paper #121790, Love Impressions Specialty Designer Series Paper #121780, Love Patterns #124156, Whisper White card stock

Ink:  Basic Gray, Real Red

Accessories:  Full Heart Extra-Large Punch #119883, Heart Small Punch #117193, Basic Rhinestones #119246. Real Red Grosgrain Ribbon #109034, Stampin' Dimensionals #104430, Tombow Multipurpose Liquid Glue #110755, Wilton Favor Tin

Funny thing is,  the inspiration for the tin came from finding scraps on my table!  First I found a scrap of the designer paper, cut it a little shorter and wrapped around the tin.  I already have a glimmer heart punched out just waiting for a project and stuck that on.  The little red bow I found in my bag of scrap ribbon, already the perfect size! Actually, it looked plenty cute with just the DSP wrapped around the side and the glimmer heart stuck on top!

Now what to do with it?  Fill it with candy, of course!!  OR stamp some little valentine messages, coupon, or wishes.  Attach them to a strand of ribbon and you'll have a little valentine garland to pull out of the tin. OR just use it for your Valentine gift box!

Candy Pop Flower

Candy Pop Flower

I bought a bag of these candy pops for Valentine's Day and had almost forgotten them. Here is something easy and fun to make for Valentine's or any time really.  Just choose your colors for your occasion.  I used the Flower Folds Die #115970 to cut my flower layers with my Big Shot.  You can use whichever flower sizes you want (I did not use the largest one) and whatever paper you want.  I used Real Red and Pink Pirouette card stock, and a piece of the Love Patterns Pack #124156 designer paper special  going on now until Feb. 14th.  I used some SNAIL adhesive to tack the flower layers together before poking a hole in the center for the candy pop stick.  I even cut off some of the paper wrapper at the bottom so the pop would fit closer to the flower.  Then I wrapped some Old Olive card stock around the stem and punched out some leaves with the beautiful Two-Step Bird Extra-Large Punch #117191.  You could attach a greeting to the stem also.

Here's a view from the top.

Super Bowl Sunday

My Digital Studio Super Bowl Card

Another fun and easy creation with My Digital Studio!  I just started with a design already included in the program, changed the pennant colors, added text, added the owl punches, changed the scallop color to black, deleted the greeting and added my own text box.  With a little research, I was able to find out the color codes for the Steelers and the Packers and used those in a couple places because you can select any colors you want with My Digital Studio.

Remember, when you purchase the My Digital Studio software from Stampin' Up!, you will be able to choose a Sale-A-Bration reward!

Enjoy the 2011 Super Bowl game……….and the commercials!

Embossed Valentine Hearts Card

I've seen some people doing this "embossing technique" so I decided to try it on my own card.  I had a lot of hearts already punched out and some scraps of DSP so this is what I came up with. The idea is that you just stick down your shapes on a card……I used some SNAIL….not sure if you even have to use adhesive….

Hearts on Card

and then you run it through your Big Shot using the Square Lattice Textured Impressions Embossing Folder #119976.

Hearts Card Embossed

That embosses your design right into the card!  Try it yourself!  To finish the card, I tied some ribbon around the designer paper, attached a sentiment, and layered it on Real Red.  Have fun with it!  What an easy way to make a special Valentine!

Playing with Buttons!

One day as I was looking through the Occasions Mini Catalog I noticed on page 22 this little bitty card in the samples with a big button on it!  I thought it was the CUTEST little thing!!

So I made one!

Tiny Big Button Card

I cut Pink Pirouette to 1 1/2" x 3" and folded in half.  The button is from the Sweet Stitches Designer Big Buttons #122302 on page 35 of the Occasions Mini.  The button is threaded with Linen Thread #104199. Now you could leave it this plain, or you could stamp a little word in the corner before attaching the button.

If you knew a seamstress, wouldn't this be the cutest little tag for a gift? Anyone would love it!

******************

This is a great day to stamp in most parts of the country! While you are snowed in or staying in because of the freezing cold, do something fun….which, of course, would be stamping or scrapbooking! The weather forecast even for Houston, TX is SNOW tonight!!!!  I'm keeping my fingers crossed!  You know I love snow!!

Here's another small card I made for Valentine's Day using the Bitty Buttons #118761 and the Heart Small Punch #117193.  I cut the Crumb Cake card stock 3" x 6" and folded in half and used the Love Patterns Paper Pack Designer Paper # 124156 for a layer and for the small hearts.  I punched a little strip of Red Glimmer Paper #121790 with the Pinking Hearts Border Punch #117649.  The heart-shaped buttons in the Bitty Buttons are attached with a mini glue dot after being threaded with Linen Thread.  You could stamp a little greeting on the front instead of the glimmer paper strip if you wanted.

Bitty Button Heart Card

Here's tip on working with these little buttons….. thread the linen thread through the button holes, but then stick them down with a Mini Glue Dot.  This will anchor them so they will be easy to tie!  No more fighting a flipping-around button while you try to tie your knot!

It’s February! Valentine’s Day is Coming!

Here's a Valentine inspired by a card in our Stampin' Success Magazine for demonstrators.  The sample card was a dark brown background with 3/4" circles punched and then decorated.  I decided to try making something similar with hearts!

Heart to Heart Punch Valentine

I just used the Heart to Heart Punch #119881 to punch the same heart nine times out of the current designer series paper.  Then each heart is decorated with one of the Itty Bitty Punches, Red Glimmer Paper, brads, rhinestones, bitty buttons, or pearls!  Just do what looks good to you!  For a tiny sentiment, I used one of the Love Impressions Rub-Ons #121886. The Red Glimmer Paper #121790 is so fun to use I punched a strip with the Scallop Trim Border Punch #118402 and stuck on a little bow with the 1/8" Taffeta Ribbon.  A really fun valentine to make and lots of room for creativity!!

If you need any paper and punches to make your valentines, it's time to order today!  Just click HERE!

Love Impressions Rub-Ons

Stampin' Up! was kind enough to send us demonstrators a sheet of the Love Impressions Rub-Ons #121886 as seen on page 8 of the Occasions Mini Catalog.  These are a little different than previous rub-ons in that they are on a plastic material which is a little sturdier.  Here are two cards I made with them!  Order a package of Love Impressions Rub-Ons and you're ready to make some valentines!

Love Impressions Rub-Ons

This card is stamped with the tree from Valentine Defined in the Occasions Mini.  I inked it up with Pink Pirouette and then colored certain hearts with a Stampin' Write Real Red Marker and the trunk with Early Espresso.  The "Love You" is the rub-on!

Love Impressions Valentine

This card uses lots of the Love Impressions Rub-Ons!  The hot air balloon and clouds on the Whisper White piece are rub-ons as are the white clouds and the tiny red hearts on the pink area of the card.  I used some Love Impressions Specialty Designer Series Paper #121780 on the card plus a strip of the BEAUTIFUL Red Glimmer Paper #121790.  The Love You is rubbed on a piece of scrap Whisper White and punched out with the new Medium Oval Punch #120908….from the Holiday Mini, but still available for order!

Petal Cones for Valentines

The new Petal Cone Die #121810 in the new Occasions Mini Catalog is really a fun new thing to own!  I almost passed on it at first, but then I started to see the cute projects other demonstrators were making with it, and now I'm very glad I own it!  The possibilities are endless!  It can be used for any occasion, just vary the colors and embellishments.  Here are some of the Petal Cones we made at my recent stamp camp!

Red Valentine Petal Cone

I applied strips of the Love Impressions Specialty Designer Series Paper #121780 to the sides and stamped some hearts with VersaMark #102283 on the sides of the cone from the set Love You Much #113756 in the Stampin' Up! 2010-11 Idea Book & Catalog.

Pink Valentine Petal Cone

Here's one my customer made in pink with a different pattern of the same paper.  So soft and pretty!

Blue Valentine Petal Cone

And here's one someone else made in blue for her little son, stamped with Early Espresso ink and stamps from Valentine Defined and Love You Much, with a red Glitter Paper heart on the top flap!

With Sale-A-Bration going on, now is a good time to purchase those Big Shot dies (and maybe the Big Shot!) so that you can also earn "free stuff"!  Check out the Sale-A-Bration Mini Catalog HERE.

Easy Valentine Pouch

I've often told you, as demonstrators, one of our favorite things is our monthly Stampin' Success Magazine we receive from Stampin' Up! Every issue has business tips for us and many new projects including ones easy enough to demonstrate at workshops.  If you've ever considered being a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator but thought you wouldn't know what to do, this one resource alone would be enough to teach you, inspire you and give you plenty of ideas!

The Valentine Pouch shown in the January 2011 issue of Stampin' Success caught my eye and was fun and easy to make.  I changed the colors from green in the sample to Real Red.  Surprisingly, the pouch is actually made from a Medium Crumb Cake Envelope #107297.  Just seal the envelope on the back, then use the Scallop Edge Border Punch #119882 to punch one side of the envelope, which will become the top of your pouch.

Valentine Envelope Pouch

Valentine Envelope Pouch back

Just stamp with the set "Valentine Defined" from the new Occasions Mini Catalog, apply a strip of designer series paper, and tie a ribbon around.

I'm sure you can see how easy it would be to switch things up a bit…..if you don't have the Crumb Cake envelope, use one you do have.  Don't want to use an envelope?  Use Crumb Cake card stock and make a card base instead of a pouch.  Have some Mini Lunch Sacks leftover from the Holiday Mini? Use those!

Now you can figure out what to put inside….some wrapped candy bars or other little treats, some notecards to match, a pull out tag or card…..the possibilities are endless!  After Valentine's Day, make the same thing but change the colors and change the greeting and make it for a birthday or Easter or new baby or anything!  Simple and cute idea! Let me know if you make one!

A Valentine

Valentine Defined Hearts

This is a card I made while making projects and samples for my most recent stamp camp.  I used the stamp set in the Occasions Mini, "Valentine Defined" on page 9.  If you don't already own this stamp set, you should put it on your next order (especially with Sale-A-Bration!)!  We used it on several cards at my stamp camp and everyone loved it.  The Framed Tulips Textured Impressions Embossing Folder #121809 is used on the border of this card, and I can tell you all my stampers really loved this embossing folder, too.  I liked the simple, soft elegance of this card and didn't even want to add a layer under the greeting, which I had punched with the Decorative Label Punch #120907.

Here is how I made the card.  The card base is Pink Pirouette with a layer of Basic Gray on top.  The quarter piece of Whisper White card stock was embossed in the Framed Tulips Folder; however, to make it fit on top of the Basic Gray layer, it had to be made smaller so it is actually trimmed inside one of the embossed lines around the outer edge.  Then I very lightly sponged the embossed edge with Pink Pirouette ink.  The stems and hearts are stamped with the Valentine Defined set, inked with Certainly Celery marker on the stems and Pink Pirouette marker on the hearts.  You have room to stamp 2 1/2 times going across the card.  The greeting is from Grateful Greetings #116511 and punched with the Decorative Label Punch.  You could sponge some Pink Pirouette ink around the edge of the label if you wanted.  Change the greeting and you can have a card for any occasion!

If you need any of these stamping supplies, you can place your order at my Online Store here or by clicking on the red Online Ordering button in the upper-right of my blog.

Sale-A-Bration Off to a Great Start!

SAB_banner2011

Stampin' Up! reports the first day of Sale-A-Bration was a record-breaker! They are working hard to get those orders out, and indeed shipped many of them out the first day as well as today!  They actually shattered their record at the Distribution Center on the pick line, where they pull products off the shelves and place into the boxes to be shipped! They said they were ready the night before and indeed they were!!

By the way, Stampin' Up! says the most popular Sale-A-Bration stamp set has been "Punch Bunch" on page 5 of the SAB brochure.  No wonder, as the images are so cute and versatile and fit the punches perfectly!  If you like punching, you'll want this set!

If you want to check out all the Sale-A-Bration products, just click HERE to download the brochure.  If you don't have a demonstrator and would like a copy to hold in your hands, please email me.
