New Stampin’ Up! Punch! Blossom Bouquet Triple Layer Punch Flower Card

Blossom Bouquet Triple Layer Punch Flowers

Playing with the new Stampin' Up! punch!  These triple layer punches are amazing!  There are two to choose from in the Summer Mini Catalog.  This card uses the Blossom Bouquet Triple Layer Punch #122464.  The Wild Wasabi and Pacific Point pieces are from this punch.  I just glued them down one over the other with Tombow Multi Glue #110755.  The Daffodil Delight Center pieces are punched with one of the punches in the Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack #118309.  The leaves are punched with the Blossoms Petals Punch #121808, which was in the Occasions Mini but is still available to order!  The designer paper is from Beyond the Garden #122342, and the greeting is stamped with Teeny Tiny Wishes #115370.

Stampin’ Up! Love & Care Flower Card

Love & Care Flower Card

"Love & Care" is a Hostess stamp set in the Stampin' Up! Summer Mini Catalog on page 5.  There are so many Stampin' Up! ideas on how to use this lovely stamp set!  Once you start playing with it you can't stop! The flower is stamped with Versamark and them embossed with the new Tangerine Tango Stampin' Embossing Powder.  Everyone loves these new bright colors for embossing!  Check them out on page 23. The strip of designer paper is from mini catalog, Beyond the Garden.  These colored flowers will definitely brighten your day!  And you've got to have the new Postage Stamp Punch #122344 that I used for my greeting.  I forgot to take a photo, but I also stamped a piece of Whisper White card stock on the inside and LOVE how pretty it turned out with some of the other flower stamps on the corners!

This Love & Care stamp set is one of several you can earn when you have a stamping party with your friends!  Contact me for details!

We're finally getting decent rain and stormy weather in Houston today! It's playing havoc with the computer but at least my post didn't disappear! I'm not complaining since it is the first rain we have had here in ages!!

Bold Blossom Mother Day Card

Sunday, May 8th is Mother's Day, and you SURE better have a card for your mother!!  Here's one I made with Bold Blossom, a stamp set from the Occasions Mini Catalog that is also featured in the Summer Mini Catalog.  It's a fun, easy stamp set to use for a card.

Bold Blossom Mother's Day Card

I used the Color Coach to see what colors would look good with Tempting Turquoise, which I had chosen for the card base.  My Color Coach suggested Tangerine Tango!

Take time to make a nice card for your mother!

A Stampin’ Up! Wedding Card for a Princess

Royal Wedding Card

Were you up early for the Royal Wedding of William and Kate today? I was, just so I could say "I was there!"  I think I did the same when Prince Charles and Diana got married.  I pulled out one of my favorite retired Stampin' Up! stamp sets, Pretty Princess, to make a wedding card for the newlyweds.  I tried to add plenty of gold, silver and bling with the Brushed Gold and Brushed Silver cardstock, the Basic Pearls and Rhinestones and of course some Dazzling Diamonds Glitter!

And here's a little souvenir from Charles and Diana's wedding that a friend living in London at the time sent to me!  I hope I can find something similar for William and Kate so I have a set!

Houston Astros, St. Louis Cardinals, Kiss Cam, George and Barbara Bush

What do the Houston Astros, St. Louis Cardinals, the Kiss Cam, George and Barbara Bush all have in common??  If you live in Houston, Texas you probably know!

My husband got baseball tickets from work for last night's game at Minute Maid Park which was between the Houston Astros and the St. Louis Cardinals.  We love to go to the ballgame when we can, especially when the Cards are here since we both grew up in St. Louis and will always be Cardinal fans in our hearts (although after 28 years here I guess we are legitimate Astros fans as well!)  Attendance at the game was pretty low and we didn't have many people around us, except for the other couple who got the other pair of tickets from work.  So I KNEW this was going to happen!  I just knew it. When they did the "Kiss Cam" between innings, toward the end, if not the end of it, I was stunned to see my husband up on the big new screen, then me and a glimpse of the lady next to us in orange and the big heart!  I think they were trying to get all four of us in the shot, I'm not sure, but we kissed just in case!

To add to the fun of the night, President and Mrs. Bush (George and Barbara) were in attendance in their seats behind homeplate.  Barbara had her scorecard and kept score during the game while chatting with her husband!  They have lived in Houston since they left the White House and frequently attend Astros games!  Another time when we were at a game, they put the Kiss Cam camera on them!  It was very cute!

Here's an easy card to make in My Digital Studio with a bit of a baseball game feel!

Baseball-001

Oh, and the game got very exciting, the Astros even loaded the bases after the Cardinals had taken the lead and we got some runs but no grand slam homer….if an Astro had hit a grand slam that inning a lucky family would have won $25,000 from Sonic!!  I bet they were on the edge of their seats! The game was tied in the ninth, but finally the Astros prevailed with a win!  Just goes to show, always still until the end of a baseball game!!

Stampin’ Up! Springtime Card

Stampin' Up! doesn't leave us in the lurch when it comes to creative ideas for handmade cards and projects.  Every month Stampin' Up! demonstrators receive an inspiring magazine called Stampin' Success which has loads of ideas for papercrafting, cardmaking, and scrapbooking as well as how to run a successful stamping business. This is one of the ideas I found in a past issue except I made my card a little larger than the original.

Springtime Stampin' Up! Card

This card is stamped with the Easter Blossoms stamp set in the Occasions Mini Catalog.  You can see that even though we might think of this as an Easter set, it is perfectly useful for other occasions.  The Occasions Mini ends on April 30 so be sure you order before then!

The sentiment has Champagne Glass Glitter #120997 mixed with some Stampin' Fine Supernova Glitter #114287 to add some color around the border.

Stampin’ Up! Easter Card

Easter Card

Easter is almost here, and I've been lucky enough to get a couple of Easter cards!  This one is a handmade one, of course, from my downline, Priscilla. It's made with the beautiful stamp set Easter Blossoms in the Occasions Mini.  If you click on the photo to enlarge it, maybe you can see some of the fine detail.  She applied a tiny bit of Crystal Effects and color to the eggs and the girl's hair bow as well as the little flowers in the bouquet. A beautiful Stampin' Up! Easter card!!

The Stampin' Up! Occasions Mini Catalog is only current until next Saturday, April 30th so you don't have much time left to shop for the wonderful products in this catalog!  Check it out online and put in your order whenever it is convenient for you!  Contact me if you have any questions.

Easter Bonnet with Lace Trim

Easter Bonnet

Easter Parade

In your easter bonnet, with all the frills upon it,
You'll be the grandest lady in the easter parade.
I'll be all in clover and when they look you over,
I'll be the proudest fellow in the easter parade.
On the avenue, fifth avenue, the photographers will snap us,
And you'll find that you're in the rotogravure.
Oh, I could write a sonnet about your easter bonnet,
And of the girl I'm taking to the easter parade.

—Irving Berlin

Doesn't that song just take you back to another time?  When I was a little girl ladies always wore hats to church.  I always had a new hat, white gloves, dress, shoes, and maybe a coat for Easter Sunday.  I still remember getting into my grandma's closet and looking at her boxes of hats. Now some of them are in my closet as a keepsake.

To make your own representation of an Easter bonnet with lace trim, just find or make your own template for the hat and cut on folded cardstock. Just place your template a little above the folded line so you won't cut it.  I ran this hat through the Lattice embossing folder to give it the look of a spring straw hat.  Originally I planned on some Melon Mambo flowers, but then I went for a simpler look with some Crochet Trim lace, a Vanilla Rosette, some leaves punched with the Bird Punch and a few pearls along the band!  Make yourself an Easter bonnet and see what you come up with!

Paisley Petals Birthday Card

Paisley Petals

Birthday card, anniversary card, sympathy card, thinking of you card…..I think you could use this little card for any occasion just by changing the sentiment.  The Baja Breeze card base is 4 1/4" x 4 1/4" and layered with Cherry Cobbler and Tangerine Tango.  I was a little concerned how those colors would look together, but I like them with this paper!  The paper, of course, is the new sneak peek Paisley Petals Designer Series Paper available now during the Spring Is Blossoming Promotion.  The Four Frames stamp set and the Paisley Petals DSP will be available in the new Stampin' Up! catalog in July, but you can purchase it now, only during April….or you'll have to wait until July!  This paper is too pretty to wait THAT long!

The Baja Breeze card is actually photographed on top of another sheet of the Paisley Petals paper so you can see more.

Robots on a Birthday Card

Robot Birthday Card

Robots make a great birthday card….at least these robots do in the stamp set Lots of Bots #115293!  There they are, ready with their gifts, balloons and party hats!  Although I no longer had little boys in the house when this stamp set came out, my big boy was working on a robotics project at college so I had to purchase this set!  I'm glad I did because it has always been fun to make a card with it!  I also added some "metal" pieces, punched with the Cog Punch #118873 out of Brushed Silver and Basic Black card stock.  I'm sure some of those pieces were used to make the robots!!  The metal Hodgepodge Hardware adds a nice metallic touch to the card as well.  And the fun Spiral Border Punch #119872 adds some interest.  Perhaps it was laziness or lack of time, but after I stamped the robots, I decided to leave them blank with the thought that whatever child received this might like to color them in himself!

I got the idea for this card from another demonstrator named Taunya on our Stampin' Up! website called "Stampin' Connection".  It's a place for demonstrators to share samples and have discussions in forums and exchange ideas.  So if you would like to be a Stampin' Up! demonstrator, don't think you have to have natural-born creativity! Stampin' Up! provides plenty of ideas and resources for projects and running your business!  If you are interested in finding out about the business opportunity with Stampin' Up!, please click HERE to get some information.  And then email me if you want additional information or have questions.  You can sign up online in minutes to start your business and all the fun you will have as a Stampin' Up! demonstrator!

Space: Past and Present

Space Easel Card

Space….just the word conjures up all kinds of images in our mind.  It might be the infinity of outer space or the adventure of space travel or the heroism of our astronauts.

Today, as it turns out, is a big day in space history.  You may have noticed the Google image today is designed to commemorate the first man in space back in 1961, Yuri Gagarin.  He was from Russia and made an orbit around the earth in his Vostok 1 spacecraft fifty years ago today.

We also celebrate the space shuttle today. Thirty years ago today John Young and Robert Crippen went up for the first time in the space shuttle Columbia, orbited the earth for 54 hours and returned to earth April 14th.

But here in Houston, Texas today we were more than disappointed to learn that we would not be receiving one of the four retired space shuttles. Houston has been at the forefront of the space program since NASA's Johnson Space Center was built. It houses Mission Control and is where the astronauts train.  After all, weren't the most famous words uttered from space  "Houston, Tranquility base here. The Eagle has landed," when men first landed on the moon?

So to acknowledge the anniversaries celebrated today, I made this easel card with the spacecraft from Pun Fun #115054.  You can find a tutorial on Splitcoaststampers here to make an easel card.  I chose to use the Big Shot Scallop Circle die #113468.  The inner circle layers I cut out with my Circle Scissors Plus #112530 and the Glass Mat #112531. The Circle Scissors Plus is wonderful because you can cut any size circle you need.
