Tangerine Tango Snow Swirled Christmas Card

Tangerine Tango Snow Swirled Christmas Card

Why would I make a Christmas card using Stampin' Up! Tangerine Tango card stock?? It's because Tangerine Tango is quite an important and newsworthy color! Pantone has chosen Tangerine Tango as its top color for 2012 for fashion, beauty and home!  And Stampin' Up! already has it! Pantone Color Institute creates color standards that we all use everyday.

So I wondered, in light of this news, if I could create a Christmas card using the unlikely color of Tangerine Tango.  This is what I came up with using the beautiful Snow Swirled tree and the Framed Tulips Embossing Folder for the Big Shot.

Maybe we'll be seeing a lot of Tangerine Tango in the New Year!

Did you know you can sort by color when you go to my Stampin' Up! Online Store?  In the left column at my store, just click "Shop By Color", then choose the color group and then the specific color if you want.

Don't forget to check the Clearance Rack Blitz going on now until Jan. 5!!

Pines & Poinsettias Z-Fold Christmas Card

Pines & Poinsettias z-fold Christmas Card

I'm hoping to enjoy stamping some Christmas cards today, so I started with this Z-Fold card using the Pines & Poinsettias stamp set and the beautiful Holly Berry Bouquet Specialty Designer Series Paper. Today is even Christmas Card Day! The day celebrates Sir Henry Cole, who marketed the first commercial Christmas Card in 1843. So jump on board and let's make some Christmas cards today!

Here is the inside.  You can see that the top cover of the card folds back, creating the "z".

Pines & Poinsettias z-fold Christmas Card Open

I got the idea from a card I saw on our demonstrator website and I changed mine a little bit with the design.

Having the Simply Scored Tool made the scoring real easy on this card.

  • Cut a piece of card stock 4 1/4" x 11".
  • Score at 5 1/2" and at 8 1/4".
  • Fold on score lines to make the "Z".
  • Decorate as you like!  Very fun!

Punch Art Snowman Christmas Card

Punch Art Snowman Christmas Card

This punch art snowman Christmas card is inspired from one in an old papercrafting magazine. No directions were given but I thought it would be easy to duplicate with our Stampin' Up! punches.

Punches: Extra-Large Oval Punch #119859:  Snowman face and hat (cut in half); 1 3/4" Circle Punch #119850:  Snowman body; Small Oval Punch #120908:  Snowman hands

  • The card base is Wisteria Wonder, the card layer is Marina Mist card stock. The hat and bow are Baja Breeze
  • The little snowflake on top of his hat is from the Northern Frost die #120901 with a little rhinestone added to the center.  The band on the hat is pretty much hand cut with lines drawn with the Wisteria Wonder Stampin' Write Marker
  • The carrot nose is cut from a scrap.
  • You won't be able to guess how I made the bowtie I bet!  It's the bottom half of the Butterfly Punch #119848 turned upside down!
  • The greeting is from Season of Joy #110384.
  • The snowflakes (from Serene Snowflakes #115438) in the background are stamped in White Craft Ink and embossed with Clear Embossing Powder.
  • The little whimsical lines are just drawn freehand on some of the pieces with a black Sharpie pen.

All so easy, and what a happy little card!

If you need any of these stamping supplies, I would be pleased if you would order them from my Stampin' Up! Online Store

Raining Flowers Sympathy Card

Raining Flowers Sympathy Card

Raining Flowers is one of the several free stamp sets we received in our bags at the Stampin' Up! Convention this past summer. While doing some other stamping project, I learned how to make a smaller panel embossed with the Framed Tulips Textured Impressions Embossing Folder Die #121809 and decided to use it on this card.  I like the white on white look of layers, or in this case, Very Vanilla layered on top of Very Vanilla.  The frame is popped up on Stampin' Dimensionals and sponged just the tiniest bit with some Pear Pizzazz ink. I just stamped some Raining Flowers in the middle, cut out and popped up the Rose Red flower and the So Saffron flower.  The flowers are actually stamped and then punched with a smaller punch that doesn't really match the shape of the stamp, but it looks fine.  It was fun to experiment with something new!

Spice Cake Fall Birthday Card

Spice Cake Fall Birthday Card

Most of us just can't get enough of this Spice Cake Designer Series Paper! It is so versatile it can be used on any number of types of cards. This one is a birthday card for a friend with a fall birthday.  This is another idea I got from our Stampin' Up! demonstrator website, Stampin' Connection, where other demonstrators post samples, ask questions, and post helpful tips and information.  The card I got the idea from was made by Sherianne.  I loved how it incorporated the Spice Cake fabric, the Spice Cake paper, and the very large Spice Cake Designer Buttons! I used the stamp set Gently Falling to stamp the leaves and then adhered a stamped greeting over the background using Bring On the Cake. The Scallop Square is easy….a die cut for the Big Shot, and then I poked the little holes with my Paper Piercing Tool.

If you need any of these wonderful stamping supplies, you can order them online HERE.

Card for a Male Birthday

Lots of birthdays in our family recently and mostly male!  I think I mailed my other son's card before photographing it, but my other little boy's birthday is today!  Okay, he's not so little any more, but you know how it is…when you are a mother, our children really never grow up in our hearts!

I wasn't feeling so creative when I made this card, and of course was in a hurry to get it in the mail at the last minute.

Postage Stamp Punch Male Birthday Card

It often seems to be a challenge to come up with a "male" card, but look how easy this one is!  I just used the Postage Stamp Punch #122344 and scraps of Halloween paper, Frightful Sight #122351 on a card base of Cajun Craze. So don't put your Halloween paper away just because it is close to Thanksgiving!  Turn it over, look at the parts without a Halloween image, just see what you can use!  The squares are each popped up on Stampin' Dimensionals.

Here is the inside:

This stamp is from the stamp set "Bring On the Cake", available in wood- or clear-mount.

Star Wars Punch Art Birthday Card

Star Wars Birthday Card

Here is a Star Wars punch art birthday card with Darth Vader and Yoda I made for my favorite son-in-law.  Yes, he's my favorite….well, he's my only son-in-law, but he's still my favorite!  :) Apparently I hit a home run with it because my daughter says he really liked it!  He's a big Star Wars and all-kinds-of-other-stuff fan so I thought this idea would be perfect.

Of course, it is not my original idea because I can't come up with creative things like this!  Fortunately, other demonstrators can and they share and it is okay to copy ideas!  I found this idea in our Stampin' Up! demonstrator website called "Stampin' Connection". (So if you want to be a Stampin' Up! demonstrator but feel you are not creative, this is one of many resources provided by Stampin' Up!)  A demonstrator from Canada, Rose Marie Coleman, had made these Star Wars punch art figures and I was able to figure out what she did! I'll add her blog link at the end.

I have to tell you about my greeting on the front!  I didn't have much space left for one and I got the idea to have it be something Yoda would say. Would you believe there is a website that will translate anything you write into "Yoda-speak"?!  http://www.yodaspeak.co.uk/  Just type in what you want to say, and it will translate it for you!  Try several versions until you get something interesting!

Then I used several different stamps from On Your Birthday #111664, cut the words apart after I stamped them on scrap paper, and pasted them in order to make my own greeting!

My card is made with a Basic Black card base with a Brushed Silver card stock layer on the front (which doesn't photograph very well!). Here is the inside:

If you need to add to your collection of punches so you can make interesting characters like this at a moment's notice, just Shop Online at my Stampin' Up! website.

Here is a link to Rose's blog post about how she made these characters…because I already don't remember how I did it and someone is sure to ask!  http://www.stampingwithrose.com/2010/05/star-wars-card-instructions-and-winner.html

This Day in History: The Debut of Sesame Street!

Sesame Street

In 1969 on this date, a television show called "Sesame Street" made its broadcast debut.  It was created by Joan Ganz Cooney to provide an educational and entertaining show for preschoolers, particularly to help underprivileged 3- to 5-year olds prepare for kindergarten. A puppeteer named Jim Henson was hired to create the characters for Sesame Street who, of course, became institutions.

The Sesame Street characters are so fun to make with "punch art". Get out your punches and your card stock scraps and go to town!  This is a great way to make party invitations, favors, cards, etc. for little children!

Stamping and papercrafting, I think, is the perfect hobby for moms of young children.  So many birthday parties, school parties, school events, sports…you name it….and with stamping you can make all the things you need with little cost and little time….or ON little time, as you discover it's time for the birthday party and you haven't bought a card yet.  You can make one in minutes, right before you go out the door!

A Week of Halloween–Peekaboo Frames Halloween Boo Card

Peekaboo Frames Halloween Card

Love the new Peekaboo Frames die for making a Halloween card!  Here is a card I copied from someone and then really had fun decorating the inside!  Oops, guess I forgot to take a photo with the peekaboo frames open, to reveal eyeballs inside!

Halloween card Inside

And here is the inside of the Halloween Peekaboo card with a greeting from Grateful Greetings and ghosts punched from hearts.  I added some Dazzling Details to the spider web on the front, made from a textured embossing folder.  My little niece loved it!

A Week of Halloween–Trick or Treat Card

I got the idea for this Halloween card from a sample in a magazine.  The Stampin' Up! set Spooky Bingo Bits is just perfect for this card design. I used Glossy White card stock  #102599 for the card base and for the tag. The greeting is from Grateful Greetings.   Love that set!

And here is the inside of the card, the greeting also from Grateful Greetings.

A Week of Halloween–Petite Pocket Halloween Treat

The Petite Pocket Bigz Die is a new one this year, and now that I have finally played with it, I think I am loving it!  You can make cute little gift card holders, cards, candy holders, treats for any occasion with it!  Here is a Petite Pocket Halloween Treat that I just made.

Petite Pocket Halloween Treat

I started by die-cutting a piece of Pick Your Poison Designer Series Paper #124001.  It's about 10 inches long.

Petite Pocket Pick Your Poison

Folded up and decorated, with a little pull-out card inside, this is what it looks like.

Petite Pocket Halloween Treat card

Do you know how I made the ghosts?  I punched a heart and then cut it in half!  The features are just colored in with a black marker. The Scallop Oval Punch #119856 is placed and glued so that it holds the flap shut behind it.  Only put glue at the bottom of the oval.  The letters are die cut with the Naturally Serif Decorative Strip Die #113453.

The little pull-out card you can either cut with the die cut and trim down a hair or just cut something narrow that will fit inside.  It is stamped with images from Spooky Bingo Bits and the greeting from Grateful Greetings.  For a little tab to pull out, I punched a 1" circle, folded in half and stapled on with a little bit of ribbon.

Try this Petite Pocket Die!  It really holds lots of possibilities!
