Apothecary Art Birthday Card

This Apothecary Art birthday card is a nice one to send to someone and easy to make! Surprisingly, it is not what I intended to make today, but it's what turned out! Sometimes you just have to go with what creativity deals you and not force anything else!

The card base is Soft Suede which goes with the Comfort Cafe Designer Series Paper #126898.  I stamped the images from Apothecary Art (page 102) and cut out with the Apothecary Accents Framelits Dies #127003. The layer is the new In Color, Midnight Muse.

Just enjoy when you are stamping and creating and see what comes of it!

Silicone Craft Sheet for Hot Glue

The Stampin' Up! Silicone Craft Sheet #127853 in the 2012-13 Holiday Catalog is one of the great new products you will use over and over again. It's a 6"x 6" sheet of silicone which makes it nonstick, heat resistant, easy to clean and a convenient size for storage, use, and portability.

We all know what a "sticky" situation it is when you get adhesive on your work surface, but with the Silicone Craft Sheet, your work surface is protected from adhesives and can be easily cleaned off with a baby wipe or wet paper towel.

The Texas Sales Tax Holiday is coming on Friday, August 17 and lasting through Sunday, August 19. You might not think of Stampin' Up! when you think of school supplies, but we really do have some supplies and accessories that might be useful for your students…and you!

Any Texas customers can take advantage of this savings during those dates only…and we know moms need a stash of scissors, glue, markers, etc. for those last-minute projects when it's too late to run out to the store! I probably STILL have a few things in my closet! Neighbors used to call me to see if I had an extra notebook or folder or construction paper…and I usually did!

A Guest Visitor at the Stampin’ Up! Convention!

You heard a lot from me about the Stampin' Up! 2012 Convention this summer in Salt Lake City even though I did not attend this year. As a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator, I find going to the convention one of the most fun things I can do! For me, the biggest, biggest, biggest thing is all the creativity on display! So many displays and live demonstrations that you just think as soon as you get home you will make everything you saw at Convention! But there is also an overwhelming feeling of being with some of the nicest people you could ever meet, whether the Stampin' Up! employees or other demonstrators. I think we are all so happy to be there in the first place plus we just are a friendly bunch!

But what would the Stampin' Up! Convention look like to an "outsider"? This year Stampin' Up! invited a freelance writer, Connie Myers, and she shared her experience in an article on Scrapbook Update:  

Demonstrators attended general sessions and classes throughout the three-day convention. General sessions included technique and product demonstrations, prizes, company announcements, achievement awards and on-stage recognition. Classes included several make- and-take sessions using new colors and products. New products were also displayed on Product Showcase boards. Dozens of display boards showcased class projects, general session techniques, and creative cards, scrapbook pages, and projects created by demonstrators. Demonstrators took photos to use as examples when planning their parties, workshops, and classes at home.

I know you will want to read her whole article and see the photos! I think she gave a complete report of what she observed at the Stampin' Up! Convention, plus, as I mentioned, experienced for herself the fun and friendliness available to everyone. You'll also learn a little history about Stampin' Up!

It might be unusual to encourage someone to read the Comments after the article, but I think in this case reading the comments will just add to your knowledge and excitement about the Stampin' Up! company and attending the Stampin' Up! Convention!

As we start putting out our fall decor for our homes and start wearing fall-colored clothing, we will know Halloween is not far behind! Now's the time to just start thinking about our fall and holiday projects before time gets too short.

For an extra touch and texture, run the bag through the Big Shot Die-Cutting Machine inside an embossing folder! Just stick the bag inside the folder! Nothing tricky about it. The Spider Web Folder #120889 is of course a great one for Halloween! But the new Chevron Folder #127749 or Argyle Folder #127750 or Houndstooth Folder #123134 are also interesting ones! For the Chevron one, I purposely put the bag in crooked to make it look a little creepier!

Since I love Halloween, one of my favorite items in the Stampin' Up! Holiday Catalog is the Ghoulish Googlies Designer Kit (#126914) !  I'll tell you right now, you might as well order at least two kits if you are going to order one!  Once you get started, you will want to keep creating! It is designed for making Halloween treat bags, but you can also use the tags on cards or other projects. It's fun to use the Embossing Folders on the bags and create some texture and interesting looks!

Stampin’ Up! Stamped Candles–Oldies But Goodies!

Stampin' Up! Stamped Candles

Look what I found! Some OLD Stampin' Up! stamped candles! The other day I did a little "cleaning" in my front bedroom where I stash all my retired stamping products and all my unfinished craft projects and materials from before my Stampin' Up! days. I found these candles in a drawer, but what is interesting are the old Stampin' Up! images from back when I became a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator.

The fruit images are from a stamp set called "Citrus & Such" and stamped with the old Spectrum ink pads, which were a strip of several colors of ink so you could get a multi-colored image. The flower on the candle in the middle was perhaps in my Starter Kit when I signed up, "Fresh Flowers". Not much choice, if any, back then of what you got in your Starter Kit! The last candle has a heart from "Love Always" and the bottom border is a wheel called "Love Swirls". I think my upline made that one for me.

And just a couple more nostalgic items:  a small tin bucket stamped with a variety of stamps and an old jar, painted, and then stamped with Fresh Flowers. I think my stamping, and everyone's, has come a long way in ten years!

I'm sure any demonstrator or stamper who has been around Stampin' Up! for awhile will recognize these old images!  I think maybe the first stamp sets you start out with become near and dear to your heart forever!
