Snowflake Shaker Christmas Card

Snowflake Shaker Card

Stampin’ Up! sells these little sticky circles in lots of sizes called Shaker Frames, and here is a Christmas card I finally made using snowflakes and a Shaker Frame! Shaker Frames use punches and window sheets to make a dimensional shaker. (If you don’t have window sheets, you can use a scrap of plastic packaging you might have or a transparency.) They’re really fun to play with after you get the hang of it. And it’s also fun to fill them with something to shake around! In this case, I had a stack of tiny little Glimmer Paper stars from the Confetti Stars Punch that I wanted to use in a Shaker Frame.  I also added some snowflakes and sequins from the Frosted Sequins package. I probably could have added a bit more “stuff” in my Shaker Frame, but you can also add too much so I wanted to avoid that. The snowflake stamped in the background is from the Many Merry Stars Photopolymer Stamp Set. The scalloped Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper frame around the Shaker Frame is die cut with the framelit in the Circle Card Thinlits Die. The Soft Sky card layer is embossed with the Northern Flurry Embossing Folder and a hole was punched in the card stock to accomodate the shaker. Since I was going to pop up the Soft Sky layer, I decided to push the shaker frame into that layer. I tied some Silver 1/8″ Ribbon around the Soft Sky layer and added some of the Frosted Sequins and Rhinestones to the front of the card for some pizzazz.

This Shaker Frame started out to be a snowman! That’s what I was going to make when I began making this card.  So you don’t always know what you will end up with when you start your stamping project! And it’s good to let your creativity flow wherever it takes you!  Just have fun!

Hamburger Die Fall Box & Stampin’ Up! Weekly Deals

Hamburger Die Fall Box

The Hamburger Box Bigz XL Die isn’t just for hamburgers! It really is a fun little box to make and decorate, whether as a fall gift box or favor or certainly for any occasion. I’ve found that the easiest way to assemble the box is to cut on one side of those little inside fold lines that are scored for you. That makes a tab on all the corners that can be adhered inside the box. Use a strong adhesive,

The box is tied together with the Natural 5/8″ Chevron Ribbon  and the Tangelo Twist 3/8″ Satin Stitched RibbonDid you know you can turn the Natural Chevron Ribbon to the other side and just have a plain ribbon?  That is what I was going to do since I was putting the Tangelo Twist ribbon on top of it, but then I changed my mind!  You’re allowed to do that in stamping!

One of the reasons this became a fall box rather that a Christmas one was because when I was looking for my Real Red card stock and came across the Crushed Curry card stock, I remembered I already had some extra fall leaves stamped and cut out from the For All Things Stamp Set that I had made but didn’t use on another project. I also had the little circle punched with the acorns. So I just punched holes for the Gold Baker’s Twine and stamped a greeting tag with the set Good GreetingsI also attached a strip of Gold Foil that I found laying on the table.

Wouldn’t this box make a cute table favor for your Thanksgiving guests or part of a hostess gift?!

If you need the Hamburger Box Bigz XL Die or any fall colors of card stock to make it, please visit my Stampin’ Up! Online Store HERE.

And while you are there, please check out the new Stampin’ Up! Weekly Deals for the week of October 21 – 27. (Yes, I had to edit this as Stampin’ Up! had one wrong product on here earlier!)

Great things on the deals today! I’ve used my Gold 1/8″ Ribbon a lot already and it is not even Christmas yet – not that it is just for Christmas.  Gold is IN! Such a great accent for any project! Very cute updated heart punch in the Sweetheart Punch! Love the sayings in the Yippee-Skippee Stamp Set, (note that it is the wood-mount set on special) especially the first one “You Can Never Have Too Much Happy”. I’ve used this set often. The Label Card Thinlits Die – I have the Circle Card one but I use it a lot and love it. It easily makes a fancy fold card with your Big Shot.

Everything else is great, too, on the Stampin’ Up! Weekly Deals! Check them out!

Beautiful New Stamp Set “You’re Wonderful”

You're Wonderful Stamp Set

Surprise!  A beautiful new photopolymer stamp set for September from Stampin’ Up! this morning called “You’re Wonderful” #139158. You can read the story of the creation of this stamp set on the Stampin’ Up! Blog. Funny how the Undefined Stamp Carving Kit has actually led to the creation of new stamp sets as people discover their inner “designer” and creativity by carving their own stamp!

Here are some samples on the Stampin’ Up! blog using this lovely stamp set!

And here are the new Weekly Deals from Stampin’ Up! for September 9 – 15:

For sure I would say if you do not own the 2″ Circle Punch you should put that on your list! And what stamper can be without Dazzling Diamonds Glitter!  Be sure you have the 2-Way Glue Pen as well – works great for adhering the glitter! Dazzling Diamonds Glitter has long been the “go-to” product when your card needs just a little something for pizzazz. Everything else is good, too, just choose what you like!

Learn to Use the Stampin’ Up! Gift Box Punch Board

One of my favorite new items in the Stampin’ Up! Holiday Catalog is the Gift Box Punch Board. At first glance I didn’t think I “needed” it, I’m not even sure why I put it on my order! But I did, and I like it! I think this Stampin’ Up! video will help you see how to use it because there are some steps involved – but once you get the idea, it isn’t hard. If you can fit your gift or treat inside without gluing the flaps down inside the box, it is really super simple. Otherwise, you can add some glue or glue dots or Sticky Strip to make the inside neater and more structured.

Use the new Under the Tree Specialty Designer Series Paper, cardstock-weight kraft sheets with a colored design on one side and white printed design on the other side to make sturdy boxes – but other kinds of paper are fine, too! Wait until you hear what Holly Linford from Stampin’ Up! says you can do with this paper!

Gift Box Punch Board Gift Box and Blossom Punch

Gift Box Punch Board Gift Box Side

Soon you will be able to make your own gift boxes with the new Gift Box Punch Board #135863 when the Stampin’ Up! Holiday Catalog goes live on August 28!  That’s in only a couple more days! Yesterday I finally got a chance to play with the new punch board and just grabbed a retired piece of designer series paper, Urban Garden, to use in case I messed up. So in this project you are seeing the new with the old!  You may find the punch board a little confusing right at first, but once you get the hang of it, you won’t have any problems. After all, I did make that box myself and didn’t even mess up! This post isn’t about how to use the Gift Box Punch Board, but just a sneak peek at something you can make with it and an idea for the Blossom Punch, on the Stampin’ Up! Weekly Deals this week!

Here is the 4″ x 4″ gift box before I decorated it. This is the largest size you can make with the Gift Box Punch Board.

Gift Box Punch Board Gift Box

Here is a view of the partially open box. You can see the little clasp closure on the points of the top of the box. You can use the Gift Box Punch Board to make these. If you do not like all the folds of the box being pushed to the inside of the box, there are a couple things you can do to change that to adhere those sides.

Gift Box Punch Board Gift Box Inside

Here is a close-up of the flower decoration I made with the Blossom Punch. First I wrapped the box with the Pear Pizzazz 3/4″ Chevron RibbonI thought it matched pretty nicely! With the Blossom Punch, I punched three flowers from the Urban Garden DSP.  One pattern is different from the other two and is layered in the middle. The layers are all held together with a Silver Mini Brad, which is later covered up by the button.  I spritzed the flower with water and gathered the layers up toward the center and mooshed them together to get a little texture. The Very Vintage Designer Button is threaded with the Gold Baker’s Twine with a little bow and adhered with Glue Dots. Do you know you can color the buttons with the new Blendabilities?!

Gift Box Punch Board Gift Box Top

Even though this box was my first attempt with the Gift Box Punch Board, coming in the Holiday Catalog, and even though I didn’t even like this pack of designer paper very much, I was VERY pleased with my first little box! Especially after I so easily decorated it!

When you place your Holiday Catalog order later this week, check the Stampin’ Up! Weekly Deals and get the Blossom Punch if you don’t already own it.  It is a punch I have used a lot. It coordinates with the Mixed Bunch Stamp Set, too! Everything is available at my Online Store!

Texas Sales Tax Holiday – Buy Your School Supplies from Stampin’ Up!

Texas Flag

I’m glad the Texas state flag is easy to make with just red, white, and blue and a white star! Starting today, August 8, the Texas Sales Tax holiday will be in effect through August 10 to help parents save a few pennies with all the before-school-starts purchases! And when you are buying a lot of things, those 8 pennies on every dollar do add up.

To save a few shopping minutes, there are some items you can order directly from Stampin’ Up! that count as school supplies, as long as each item is priced under $100. You can spend more than $100 total but any item (like the full set of markers in a case) that costs more than $100 would not be eligible. You don’t have to have children in school in order to take advantage of the school supplies! Stock up on general items like adhesives, scissors, markers and pens while you can save a little bit of money, if you live in Texas! Even if you don’t have children in school, you never know. Some night your neighbor may call and ask if you have any glue for her child’s science fair project or report she just found out about!

Stampin’ Up! sent out a letter to Texas demonstrators to pass on to their customers:

“The state of Texas is having a sales tax holiday for school supplies up to $100 per item from August 8-10. States typically define School Supply as “any item normally used by students in a standard classroom for educational purposes.” Because school supply items are included in this sales tax holiday, the list of items below will be state tax-free during the holiday period. Please note that you must place your order with Stampin’ Up!® during the tax holiday period in order to receive these items tax-free. Also, keep in mind that this is a state sales tax holiday and may not apply to additional county, city and special jurisdiction taxes.”
