It is so easy to make beautiful cards with the Delightfully Detailed Laser-Cut Specialty Paper like these laser paper cards.  Can you tell which one is not like the others?

The card in the lower left-hand corner is the one that is different.  The Delightfully Detailed Laser-Cut Paper is Whisper White on one side and Very Vanilla on the other side!  My card in the lower-left is made with the Very Vanilla side of the laser paper. It’s a slightly different look, also beautiful and makes this laser-cut paper doubly versatile because you can use it with other papers whether they coordinate with white or vanilla.

This is what the laser-cut paper looks like just laying on the table.  In the package, each sheet is separated with tissue paper to keep the intricate designs from getting tangled up with each other!  I like to cut out a portion just slightly larger than the area I want to cover and then trim it down once it is adhered to the card or even when I am holding it securely on the card. Either sponge on some Multipurpose Liquid Glue with a piece of sponge or a Sponge Dauber or use teeny tiny dots of glue on the back of the laser paper.  The greeting on these cards is from the Love What You Do Photopolymer Stamp Set.

These papers can also be sponged or brayered with another ink color.  I haven’t tried that yet, but it can be done!  Check out the Sponge Brayer that you can use.

This week the tutorial on the website Splitcoaststampers was for a Mitered Frame, so here is my version of how to make a mitered frame with the Beautiful Bouquet Stamp Set and the Garden Impressions Designer Series Paper.  This tutorial really caught my eye and the directions seemed easy enough for me to make! So I tried it!

Since the sample in the tutorial started with a 6″ x 6″ piece of paper, I thought I would just start with the Garden Impressions Designer Series Paper since it is already 6″ x 6″. (It’s on the DSP Sale going on now!)

1.  Score the paper at 1/2″ and 1″ on all four sides. Carefully cut off the four corners of the paper where all 4 score lines come together. This will help make the mitered corners later.

2. Fold the corners in up to the inner score line forming a triangle or diagonal on the corner.

3.  Now fold the top edge of the scored area in toward the inner score line and then fold all that into the center of the frame.  This will form the frame.  I suggest just folding all in before gluing to see if you need to do some tiny trimming on any of the score lines or fold something more precisely to get the perfect mitered corners.  When you feel happy with the folding, glue these down forming the frame. Optional:  Fold on all the score lines but instead of adhering down, leave them loose, making more of a 3D frame that is just folded in and “loose”.

Now decorate your mitered frame with whatever “scene” or greeting you would like to have. If you didn’t like the inside paper design, before you fold it all down and glued, you could cut a separate background piece of paper to adhere inside.  You could also have it just a regular square rather than on an angle as a diamond shape.

For me, I chose to stamp and die cut with the Beautiful Bouquet Stamp Set and the Bouquet Bunch Framelits Dies.  This could be adhered to another piece of cardstock to make a card or you could attach a ribbon to the back to make something to hang for yourself or the recipient. If you leave the folded edges “loose” you kind of have a shadowbox and can embellish that in a different way.  Lots of possibilities for your creative expression!

My card has a base of Powder Pink and then a layer of the Petal Promenade Paper.  The Vellum Cardstock is cut narrower than the designer paper so that about half an inch of designer paper on each side shows. It is somewhat difficult to adhere vellum because most glue shows through.  It is best if you can hide it, which I did in two places on this card. I tied the bow, made with the Petal Pink Metallic Ribbon in a combo and then planned where to attach it at the top of the vellum.  Then I hid a drop of Liquid Glue underneath where the bow would go to adhere the vellum to the designer paper and adhered the bow over that glue spot with a couple of Glue Dots.

Next, I made the label at the bottom of the card using the Label Me Pretty Stamp Set and the Pretty Label Punch.  It is accented with two little Artisan Pearls. After adhering this label with the greeting at the bottom of the card, I could then add some Liquid Glue underneath that label to adhere the vellum to the card front.

If you wanted to, you could punch two holes in the top through the designer paper and vellum and tie the bow through the papers to hold everything in place.

Yes, the Petal Promenade Designer Series Paper really is that beautiful! You can make easy cards with this paper because it is so pretty that it stands on its own. You don’t need to add too much embellishment or it will be too much.  I just got this paper late Friday night (where was that UPS man??!) and couldn’t wait to open the package. As I explained in THIS POST, this paper was made from actually photographing real flowers and then turning it into designer paper by the Stampin’ Up! artists!

For this card, I started with a card base of Whisper White (and the Thick Whisper White Cardstock would be good to use if you have it).  I cut a piece of the designer paper and decided to layer it on a piece of Blushing Bride Cardstock, one of the many coordinating colors for this designer paper.  The greeting is stamped in Mossy Meadow Ink and layered on a strip of Blushing Bride Cardstock with a piece of the Petal Pink Metallic Ribbon (sold in a combo with Shaded Spruce).  So pretty and so easy!

I finally stopped the world and played with the new Varied Vases Stamp Set and matching Vases Builder Punch and made this Flowers in Vases Card For a Friend.  So many wonderful new stamp sets, paper, punches, tools, and accessories to play with after the debut of a new Stampin’ Up! Catalog! It’s hard to get around to everything!  You can even save 10% by purchasing the stamp set and punch in a Bundle.

I started with a card base of Poppy Parade, just because, and a piece of Whisper White cardstock on which to stamp the flowers and vases. As the design developed, I layered the Whisper White piece on top of So Saffron and Basic Black.

Two of the vases are stamped and then punched out, one with Coastal Cabana ink and the other with Poppy Parade ink, and the center one is just punched out of a piece of patterned paper from the Garden Impressions 6″ x 6″  Designer Series Paper. I thought that the yellow side of the paper would go with the So Saffron although the opposite side of the paper with a flowery design was also very pretty for a vase!

Rather than just stamping the flowers randomly and hoping they were placed correctly for the vases, I first stamped the vases very lightly with Gray Granite ink, stamped off once or twice. Then I stamped the flowers in Memento Black ink. After punching out the vases, I was able to adhere those right over the lightly stamped vases and the stamping didn’t show at all! Then I colored in the flowers with various Stampin’ Blends Markers.  Love those markers!

Just to “ground” the vases, I scribbled on a little shadow with the Light Smoky Slate marker.  The greeting is found in the Varied Vases Stamp Set, and I just added a couple of gold Metallic Pearls on each end.  I like the way this card turned out with no plan in mind!  I’ve seen so many pretty cards made with this Varied Vases Stamp set and coordinating punch, so there is lots of fun stamping ahead!
