New Stampin' Up! 2014-15 Catalog is Here

The store isn’t open yet as I write this, but the new Stampin’ Up! 2014-15 Catalog is available for viewing online! While you are waiting for the ordering to begin, take some time to page through the catalog online.

Everyone is excited about the new alcohol markers, the Blendabilities. Unfortunately, these markers are not available quite yet on the day the catalog goes live, but the good news is Stampin’ Up! believes the supply will be adequate by the end of June or early July.

Quatrefancy Hello Lovely Panel Card

Time is really getting short on retired Stampin’ Up! products, so I thought I would use some of my Quatrefancy Specialty Designer Series Paper and the Hello, Lovely Stamp Set. I have to admit, I haven’t been crazy about this pack of paper, but if I looked more at each paper individually, maybe it wasn’t too bad!  On this card, I just cut some 3/4″ strips of paper from scraps in the package and staggered them a little on this card front. Although I tried to center the center strip, I got it off a little bit which made the strips too far over to the right.  Since there “are no mistakes in stamping!” I decided to fix it by covering the extra wide margin on the left with some of the Whisper White 5/8″ Organza Ribbon (my favorite ribbon for a long time!). I stamped the greeting in Island Indigo ink and layered on pieces of Strawberry Slush and Pool Party card stock. Kind of a fun design to show off the papers in the Quatrefancy pack.

Giant Stamping Party at Stampin’ Up! Leadership!

It was a giant stamping party last night at the Stampin’ Up! Leadership Conference!  This was after a full day of a speaker and various classes plus a most delicious dessert at lunch!

The Stampin’ Up! employees greeted us as we walked in the room! After we picked up one of our stamp sets we found a place to sit at the lovely tables decorated with little Stampin’ Up! bags with our Make & Takes and another stamp set. Some of our favorite Stampin’ Up! people did stamping demonstrations on stage.  Love that part!!  And there’s a new product coming if you don’t have the Big Shot but want to do some embossing! Not to mention the new Blendabilities alcohol markers. And there’s a new Paper Pumpkin special for signing up!

And if you are in the Houston area today, come to the George R. Brown Convention Center this afternoon to preview Stampin’ Up! and you probably get to stamp something too!  It’s from 2:00 – 7:00 and open to everybody. Dad and the kids can go see the Train Show there and Mom can go stamp!

Stampin’ Up! is looking for a few good new Demonstrators!  The ongoing special has just been extended another 24 hours, until October 22, 2013 at 11:50 pm MT.  If you are looking for a new business opportunity, there is no less expensive way to start your own business than this:

Stampin’ Up! 2013 Convention Closes with a Bang!

All good things must come to an end, they say, and certainly the 2013 Stampin’ Up! Convention did with a bang!  Yes, real bangs!  Fireworks and confetti! Of course my camera battery died at the exact moment, but with a quick change, I was able to get a tiny video of the sparkle and glimmer!

Today was travel day and it seemed to take all day since I was up extremely early in order to perhaps beat the other 5000 or so demos leaving today. It actually went fine, I was just SO tired and carrying my heavy SU backpack from Convention with my laptop, a one bag of swaps to look at, catalogs, snacks, etc. It’s fun having something to visibly identify you as a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator because we can easily pick out other demos to chat with and also other people are wanting to know who we all are with the matching bags!  That’s a great opportunity to share with them the fun job we have as demonstrators and tell them about stamping.  My flight from Salt Lake City to Denver was really fun as I got to sit with two other very friendly demos and we just chatted the whole way about Convention and Stampin’ Up!  I felt a little sorry for the people in the row in front of us who probably wondered if we would ever be quiet! After a two-hour layover in Denver I finally made it back to Houston by 4:00.  It’s always sad to leave the last event of Convention after all the long anticipation and say goodbye to all the other demos.

We barely had any free time after things got rolling with Convention so I haven’t even looked at my swaps yet!  Can you believe that?  Downloading all my photos was extremely time-consuming (not sure if the hotel internet was slow or if I wasn’t doing something right) (or else the internet was saying ‘Are you kidding me??!  All these photos??’) so I really didn’t get to post more on my blog.  But I’ll try to catch up this week.

In a nutshell, Shelli’s daughter Sara presented on stage yesterday.  She was wonderful.  She has her mother’s personality and smile and the projects she showed were great.  They also had the anniversary marches across the stage so I got to walk across for being a demo for ten years! In the last general session Bonnie Thurber from Stampin’ Up!, always a favorite, had us laughing our heads off with her fun demonstration and comments!  In the past, sometimes she would sing at Convention but we didn’t get that treat this year.

There wasn’t a dry eye in the house when Shelli presented the Heart of Stampin’ Up! award to a demo who I remember from when I was new to Stampin’ Up!.  That award is always a touching one and never fails to bring Shelli to tears just reading the nominations.

 We also got to see the “commercials” some demos created.  This year they were so good they had to give out a fourth place award. I thought 4th place was so good  I couldn’t imagine any others being better, but it was fun to watch all of them and what talent by these demonstrators to come up with these videos!  They each won a shopping spree!

The last group of Prize Patrol winners won EVERY stamp set in the upcoming Holiday Catalog….maybe consolation prize for being the last ones!  All of us got the Yippee-Skippee stamp set as one last party favor!

There’s so much more to tell but it’s time for bed!

Making Swaps for the Stampin’ Up! Convention

Swap card for the Stampin' Up! Convention

Now that the Stampin’ Up! Convention is less than two weeks away, it’s probably time to get serious about making swaps! Swaps are card fronts that we Stampin’ Up! Demonstrators make to trade with each other. Not only does this give us a collection of ideas to show our customers, it also gives us a way to interact with each other! It usually even starts at the airport if others can identify you as a Stampin’ Up! Demo and we start asking each other if we want to swap.  Of course everyone does, unless they are going to be finishing their swaps on the airplane ride to Salt Lake City! Swapping is one of the biggest things at any Stampin’ Up! event. It is AMAZING (to quote a phrase from the Bachelor/Bachelorette shows!) to look around at Convention in the lobby, inside the main stage area, even outside the building to see all these people swapping! You really have to see it for yourself! Even at lunch or during a break, people will have their swaps all laid out on the table and as other demos walk by they can see what swaps they have and trade if they want. I swear, Wall Street has nothing on these ladies and gents!  Everywhere there is a line people are swapping while they wait! It’s a great way to break the ice and start talking to those strangers around you!

This is the day we’ve all been looking forward to!  Stampin’ Up! will be transitioning the website over to the new catalog until noon MT today You can also order any retiring items, as well as from the Spring Catalog, while supplies last!  People are calling it the “trifecta of ordering” because you can order from all three catalogs at once…the old, the new, and the Spring Catalog!  Have patience because there will be a LOT of people ordering and sometimes there are glitches when everything is new!

All good things must come to an end….and today is the end of Sale-a-Bration for Stampin’ Up! It’s been going on since January but today is the last day to order $50 in product and then earn a free Sale-A-Bration product.
