Finally! Stampin’ Up! Convention Make & Takes

Believe it or not, I finally made my Make & Takes from the Stampin' Up! Convention just last night!  The day at Convention that I was scheduled to do them I was EXHAUSTED for one thing, plus it was my last opportunity to take pictures of all the displays….AND I really turn into a mess when I stamp in a big group like that!  Fortunately, I'm not the only demonstrator that I have heard of that suffers from that same condition!  When I sit down, I feel like everyone else knows what to do but me and they are all doing it faster!  So I have come to the conclusion that, if I know I have the materials at home, I should just wait and then enjoy solitary stamping!  Brings back the memories of fun times at Convention, too!

Thanks So Much Card Pocket

Thanks So Much Card Pocket

This is a Small Open-End Envelope #107286 with the long side slit open so that small cards and envelopes can be inserted.  I would show you the inside but I made a "slight" boo-boo with the circle punch (not reading the directions!).  I can fix that later, but haven't yet!  You can always fix things in papercrafting!  The stamp is the single stamp, "So Many Thanks" #120173.

Some Things Have to Be Believed Card

Some Things Have to Be Believed Card

They gave us a mask to use…the negative paper from cutting Circles #2 with the Big Shot….so we could sponge three colors of ink for the background and then stamp with the beautiful new set "Just Believe", page 109 in the catalog. This is a 3×3 card and Mini Square Whisper White envelope.

Thank You Watercolor Card

Just Believe Watercolor Thank You Card

I loved making this card, the watercolor effect is so pretty, especially on the Watercolor Paper #105019.  I think we don't use this watercolor paper often enough.  I inked up the stamp from "Just Believe" using Stampin' Write Markers, spritzed it with water in a spray bottle (very lightly), then stamped it on the watercolor paper.  Of course the Small Open-End Envelope got stamped, too!

Paisley Prints Heart Card

Putting the little Basic Pearl #119247 on the tiny flower punched with the flower in the Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack #118309 just makes this card, I think!  Love the new pearls and rhinestones in the catalog!!  The stamp set is Paisley Prints, which you will find in the upcoming Holiday Mini Catalog and the Paisley Party Stampin' Around wheel #120875 on the envelope.

I really loved making this pumpkin with the new set coming in the Holiday Mini Sept. 1st, Paisley Prints.  The ribbon is just folded over with Mini Glue Dots to hold it and the wheel Paisley Party is used on the card and the bottom of the envelope.

Just for You Pouch

This pouch was real easy and so cute!  Just punch a slot with the Word Window Punch and cut the flap to fit.  Stamp the images from the Just Believe set and make the tiny cute cards to fit inside!

Back from Colorado!

It's been a busy summer what with wedding planning and going to the Stampin' Up! Convention in July and making wedding invitations.  But my husband hadn't had a trip or any of this fun so he was ready for one.  And off to Colorado we went!  Last night I began putting some photos into My Digital Studio to chronicle our vacation.  Here are two pages I came up with, the first day driving through Big Thompson Canyon, from Loveland, CO to Estes Park, CO.

My Digital Studio Big Thompson Canyon

My Digital Studio Big Thompson Canyon scrapbook page

On the first page, I just chose an already designed page of photo boxes and inserted my photos.  I added the Soft Suede background color, the photo mats, the text and the texture to the page.  For the second page, I inserted a "mirror image" of the first page, but since I had so many photos to include, I added a couple small photo boxes.  All very easy!  If I had a laptop, it would be great to do a page or two a day as I traveled with My Digital Studio installed on my laptop.  You are allowed to install the software on two computers in the same household, which is a great benefit!

Gotta Have Some Bling!

Rhinestones

Oh my gosh!  Be sure you don't miss the bling in the new Stampin' Up! Idea Book & Catalog!!  There are pearls and rhinestones and they are both beautiful! Here is a package of the Basic Rhinestones #119246.  I used a bunch of the smallest ones on this package, but you can see there are still a lot left!  They REALLY sparkle!  You will love them!  Nothing prettier than a whole package of these rhinestones hitting the light!  You get 150 of them in three sizes for only $4.95.  Just think what all you can make with these!  Your cards and projects will be gorgeous!!

Invitations (Almost) Complete!

I know I have been MIA for a few days, but I have been a busy bee working on these wedding invitations.  Even though it was a lot of work, I enjoyed just taking the time instead of worrying about how many I had to do.  My printing came out fine in the end.

Wedding Invitations

And here's a handy use for the Aqua Painter #103954!  I love this tool anyway for coloring in stamped images with either ink from the pad, ink from the refill bottle, pastels, etc.  It's almost like a watercolor brush with the water right in the barrel.  Stampin' Up! has a quality Aqua Painter…..I just leave the water in mine and it doesn't leak or anything.  But when faced with licking stacks of envelopes, I happened to think of my Aqua Painter!  Just swish the brush along the gummed seal of the envelope (not getting it too wet, of course!) and seal!  I couldn't help but think of the old Seinfeld episode where George's fiance dies from licking poisoned envelopes for her wedding invitations!

Making Wedding Invitations

This has been a long process and it has barely started.  Of course the invitations should be going out soon, which just adds to the pressure.  I didn't realize how long it would take to write everything up to fit my idea and get agreement from the bride (long distance).  It has been an engineering and computing feat for sure.  Apparently I did not really know how to compose wedding invitations on a computer, or at least our printer wanted me to think I didn't.  Thanks to my online group of Stampin' Up! demonstrator friends on SUDSOL, who are always standing by to help with any question, I was able to (hopefully) get my computer skills up to par and everything (hopefully) sized correctly…..but we shall see in a little while when I go to the printer.  If you are a Stampin' Up! demonstrator and not a member of SUDSOL, you should really consider membership.  You can get a trial offer to see how it works and if it suits you.

Paper, Plans, and Hopefully Invitations!

Will I come home in tears because I did everything wrong or it won't print out right, or will I be jumping for joy??  Will there be a wedding if no one gets an invitation?  Stay tuned!

My Convention Bag Tag

I keep thinking that any minute now I am going to stamp, no matter what!  Well, it still hasn't happened, but I remembered that I never showed you my name tag I made for my bag I would receive at the Stampin' Up! Convention.  Of course I didn't know what color or style the bag would be, and as it turned out, this tag DID NOT match!!  And I should have realized that if the theme was "Flower Power" at the party, then vintage and elegant wasn't going to be the right style!!  But, who cares, I liked the tag and I got lots of compliments on it from other demos!  And I made one for my friend Nona, too!  Looking at it now, I don't think I chose the right alphabet either, but I was looking for something small enough to fit.  This is the Jumble Alphabet #115199.  The new designer paper is Elegant Soiree #117163 with some Crochet Trim #118481 (Victoria) and some JewelsBasic Pearls #119247.  Then I just slipped this into a vertical ID badge holder from an office supply store.  You can also embellish the badge holder with ribbons!  So fun!

“What Is Wushu?” Channel 13 Houston News Report!

Anyone who knows our son Steven knows that he got very interested in "wushu" when he started college and looked around for an activity to participate in.  After checking out various kinds of martial arts, he decided on wushu.  Not many people seem to know what wushu is when we tell them that is something Steven is involved in, so it is great to see this video about it on the news today, and I believe the featured guy is someone Steven took a class with one time when he was in town.  He absolutely loves his wushu, even has the swords and poles that go with it!  We were lucky to see him and his club members perform one night at college last fall…besides a little practice in the backyard!

Here is the local news report from our Houston ABC station:

And then when you have a child involved in activities like this, what better way to capture and preserve some of those moments than with Stampin' Up!'s My Digital Studio! I was able to make an interactive album of his wushu club demonstration last fall with video clips from my camera as well as photos.  I posted about it in my blog last October HERE and HERE

Stampin' Up! Convention Display Area

Whew!  That's not nearly all there is to show but I guess that is enough for now!  You should be able to click on any photo to enlarge.  Isn't it amazing the things you can make with Stampin' Up! products??!  And the creative talent of Stampin' Up! artists and demonstrators??!  The display area you see above is just one small part of what they had for us….and this was late afternoon when it was easy to get close to the display boards to get good photos…usually demonstrators were clustered around in crowds trying to get their shots at busy times, like lunch!  I've always said it is the ideas that I love the most, even if I never got to stamp!

Want to be a part of all this??!  You wouldn't be disappointed!  Look into joining Stampin' Up! as a demonstrator!  I'd be happy to talk to you about it! It's a fantastic way to start your own business and have fun at the same time!

More Stampin’ Up! Convention!

There's so much to tell and show about the Stampin' Up! Convention!  The only way you can really grasp it all is to attend yourself!  And that means become a Demonstrator!

This was the slogan for Convention.

Shelli Gardner on stage

Shelli coming out on stage after the theme song.  Loved the tag in the background and the giant rubber stamp!

General Session
This was the fun and festivity before General Session everyday!  The music was playing, people were dancing in the aisles, both demos and SU employees, there were hula hoops, and of course swapping!!!  If walking in this room didn't get your energy flowing, nothing would!

Jill Kocherhans and Bonnie Thurber
After Jill and Bonnie did their stamping demonstrations, they performed for us!  That's one of the many things I love about the Stampin' Up! people….they are SO talented!

Wouldn't you like to join us next year at the Stampin' Up! Convention??!

Color Confections Product Display! Oh My!!

In my opinion, this display was worth the price of admission of Convention! Stampin' Up! really outdid themselves on this!  Way back in the corner of the Gathering Place where all the display boards of card, scrapbook pages, and projects were and all the other wonderful booths and displays Stampin' Up! set up to help us in our businesses, was this fantastic place!  The Color Confections Product Showcase!  I wish you all could have seen it in person!  You wouldn't believe it!  Just look at it!

Color Confections Product Showcase

And everything that looked like candy and confections and treats…..were paper products!  Little candies made out of paper, spools of ribbon covered and decorated with card stock, buttons packaged up like little candies, cupcakes and brownies made from paper, brads packaged like candy, stamps decorated with embellishments…..well, just check out some of my photos! And I can't even show you everything because lots of new products will be in the new Holiday Mini!
