For All Things Thanksgiving Card

For All Things Thanksgiving Card

I am thankful to be a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator for many reasons, perhaps the main one being the people I have met through the years, even customers who I have never met (yet!) in person.  My customer, Louise, sent me this beautiful card that she made for Thanksgiving with a sweet note inside. She probably didn’t know, but this For All Things Stamp Set has been one of my favorites since it came out last year. Not only do I love getting mail (who doesn’t?!) but in this day and age of so much junk mail, to get a real card, handmade, made my day! So never doubt what mailing one of your cards to someone might mean.

You may be very busy with Thanksgiving preparations, company coming, traveling yourself, or  who knows what, but don’t forget to take some time for yourself and check out the Stampin’ Up! Online Extravaganza! It’s Stampin’ Up!‘s answer to all the Black Friday sales! But it lasts for a week, so when you get time, check it out before Monday, November 30.  And on Monday is another Flash Sale! It’s all on the list HERE! Products are available while supplies last. At least you don’t have to go out and fight the crowds to order from Stampin’ Up! You can order online or contact me if you would like me to put your order in for you.

Online Extravaganza 2015

And if you aren’t on my Mailing List yet, there’s time!  Sign up right now, my special 12 Weeks of Christmas email with a new holiday project goes out this afternoon at 1:00 pm! Just put your name and email in the sign up box in the upper right.

Christmas Mailbox

And if you would like to meet the wonderful people who are or will become stampers and papercrafters by becoming a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator, check out the information HEREThink about it and we can talk about it after Thanksgiving if you wish! The spring Occasions Catalog will come out in January and there will be the special Stampin’ Up! promotion called Sale-A-Bration so lots of excitement and you can get in on it early if you are a Demonstrator!

If you are already one of my mailing list subscribers, check your Inbox this afternoon for Week 9 of the 12 Weeks of Christmas!

Thanksgiving Pumpkin Box

Embellished Pumpkin Box

Do you need some table favors for your guests at your Thanksgiving table or a little something to take to a hostess? If so, you might try this Thanksgiving Pumpkin box or something like it. You can put a little treat in the little open box behind the “pumpkin” on the front.

Here is where I got the inspiration for this project!  My friend gave me this little pumpkin box holding some pumpkin soaps and right away I said, “I could make something like this!” and she said, “I’m sure you could!”

Pumpkin Box with Soaps

So I got busy and figured out how to make the box that was going to be the base behind my pumpkin on the front. Here are the measurements I came up with for the size I was using, but feel free to modify for your project:  Cardstock 5 1/2″ x 6 1/4″. With the 5 1/2″ side at the top of your scoring tool, score at 1 1/4″ and 4 1/4″. Turn the cardstock so the 6 1/4″ side is at the top of your scoring tool.  Score at 2 1/2″ and 3 3/4″.  Crease all the scored lines so you can see how the box will go together.  Then cut as indicated in the photo to make the side flaps.  Apply adhesive and make your box. Actually, I intended for my box to be a little wider but must have made a boo-boo on the math!  But it is okay as is.  You can adjust yours.

Pumpkin Box Scored Piece

Just assemble the box, very simple to do with some good glue, like the Liquid Multipurpose Glue or Tear & Tape I added a handle and just stapled it on with my Stampin’ Up! Handheld Stapler, just for fun.

Pumpkin Box Assembled

I used my Big Shot and one of my Oval Framelit Dies to cut five ovals, all the same size from this pattern in the Into the Woods Designer Series PaperIn order to make each oval stand out a bit without making extra layers, I just sponged Tangelo Twist ink around each edge of the oval.

Pumpkin Box Ovals

I adhered the outer ovals to the box directly and the rest were popped up with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

To finish the pumpkin, I cut a little stem in green, just by hand and glued it to the top of the pumpkin. Then I added some 1/8″ Gold Ribbon and Gold Sequin Trim to the handle just for fun!  I also stamped a Thanksgiving from the Teeny Tiny Wishes Stamp Set and just glued it on like a little banner.

Look around at things you have at home or see in a store or in a catalog and think about how you can make it your own creation by papercrafting! You never know when inspiration will hit! Put a little treat in a cello bag and put it in this Thanksgiving Pumpkin Box!

Make A Delicate Ornaments Christmas Card

Delicate Ornaments Christmas Card

Make this beautiful Christmas card using the Delicate Ornaments Thinlits Dies with red-striped Holidays Fancy Foil Designer Vellum and the shiny Red Foil Sheets.  The card base is made with the Whisper White Thick Cardstock and layered with regular Whisper White Card Stock.  The striped vellum is then attached to the regular card stock using Glue Dots underneath the stripes to try to hide the adhesive. I popped up this layer (the Whisper White plus the vellum) on Stampin’ Dimensionals.

In order to cut the Delicate Ornaments with the Big Shot, I used the dryer sheet and waxed paper technique!  I do not (yet) own the Precision Base Plate in the Holiday Catalog.  I had heard both good and bad about it, and of course I had plenty of other products I wanted to order from the Holiday Catalog.  Even I can’t have everything! But recently I have heard very good things about this plate and might be inclined to put it on an order soon. It is supposed to help greatly cutting out these intricate dies with all the little pieces. But today I used this sandwich:

  • Magnetic Platform (or regular platform)
  • Dryer sheet (new) (can be used over and over)
  • Card stock (in this case, the red foil)
  • Wax Paper (you could also try Parchment Paper)
  • Thinlit (cutting edge down)
  • Top cutting pad

I ran this through and rolled it right back again, then ran it through and back again. This worked perfectly, I only had a very few pieces to poke out of the ornaments, no problem at all. The design is so intricate that you really don’t even notice if a few tiny pieces do not all come out. I used some tiny pieces I cut from Stampin’ Dimensionals to pop up the ornaments on the red striped foil. Then I tied little bows from the Gold 1/8″ Ribbon.  The silver ribbon would have been pretty also.

The greeting is stamped with Versamark Ink and embossed with Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder using the Heat Tool.  The stamp is from the To You & Yours Too Photopolymer Stamp Set.

It’s time to be making Christmas cards, if you haven’t already! Try these intricate dies and shiny paper to make a Delicate Ornaments Christmas card that will wow your friends!

New Stampin’ Up! Deals

Stampin' Up! Weekly Deal Nov 17 2015Here are the new Stampin’ Up! Weekly Deals for November 17 -23.  Need a Christmas stamp set? Choose the Jolly Christmas stamp set with the reindeer and plenty of greetings.  Get the Season of Cheer Cardstock Pack so you have Christmas colors handy. The Season to Season Wreath Kit can be changed out (the center garland) for different seasons.  I also saw online a cone tree decorated party with the paper leaves from the wreath kit for something different. And then we have the Snow Friends Framelits Dies that coordinate with the cute Snow Place Photopolymer Stamp Set.

If you want any of these items, just add them to your order or place a separate order.  Also, keep in mind the products Stampin’ Up! has listed as “retiring” from the Holiday Catalog. This means that these products will not carry over after the deadline from the Holiday Catalog so if you want any of them and have put off ordering, be sure to get them ordered pretty soon. Unfortunately, the accessories will only be available while supplies last as there is not enough time for reordering by Stampin’ Up! However, stamp sets will continue to be made until December 28 since Stampin’ Up! makes the stamps themselves.

Stampin’ Up! Holiday Catalog Retiring Products

Holiday Catalog Retiring Products

As we approach the end of the year, Stampin’ Up! is getting ready to retire stamps and accessories from the Holiday Catalog; but before they do, they’re giving everyone an opportunity to order their favorites. Find the Stampin’ Up! Holiday Catalog Retiring List HERE.  Retiring products will only be available until January 4th.

  • Retiring products are only available while supplies last. The lists of retiring products will be updated every business day. Check with me if you want to find out about any certain product.
  • Remaining inventory for retiring products may appear later on the Clearance Rack.
  •  Due to high demand for retiring stamps, we’ll keep producing retiring stamps until December 28 (not accessories-accessories are only while supplies last).

This is the first time Stampin’ Up! has released a retiring list from a seasonal catalog. Take advantage of the list to make sure you get the products you want from the Holiday Catalog instead of guessing or waiting until the next Annual Catalog to find out!

Oh What Fun Tag Kit Video

Yesterday I posted photos of the Oh What Fun Tag Project Kit.  I made all 30 tags, three each of ten designs. They are easier enough to make and come with directions. If you don’t like the directions (or following them!) just make your own versions!  But it is nice to have pieces all die cut and easy to punch out plus some extra-special pieces like jingle bells and gold bows! Just have fun with it!  If you don’t need 30 tags, invite two friends over and each one of you make a set of 10 tags!  It’s always fun to stamp with friends!! As Holly says in the video, divide up the supplies for each group of tags so you don’t inadvertently use more than you should on other tags and then run out.  Enjoy the video and see how great this Tag Kit is!

Place an order with Stampin’ Up! Online for the Oh What Fun Tag Project Kit!

Oh What Fun Tag Project Kit by Stampin’ Up!

Oh What Fun Tag Project Kit by Stampin' Up!

Oh what fun you will have making Christmas tags with the Oh What Fun Tag Project Kit by Stampin’ Up!  This is the coordinating Oh What Fun Photopolymer Stamp Set that you can use to make the tags and also use for any cards or other Christmas projects and the contents of the Oh What Fun Tag Project Kit.

It is suggested that you separate the materials you need for each tag so that you are sure you have the right pieces in the right places for the right tags!

Oh What Fun Tag Project Kit set up

Then you are ready to stamp and go for it! In the kit, you receive enough materials to make 30 tags, 3 each of 10 designs!  Just think how much fun you can have making these easy tags and how lovely your gifts will look with a fancy tag attached!

Oh What Fun Tag Project Kit Tags Finished

This is the time to start stamping things like this so that you are not rushed in December when you will be wishing you had done these projects much farther in advance! I need to listen to my own advice, believe me — but I do have these tags made!  On the back you can stamp the “To & From” so you can write in the names when you actually wrap the packages. A friend of mine said she was going to enclose a tag with her Christmas cards as a gift for the recipient! You could also use the tag as the focal point on the front of your card! You could also use some of the tags on scrapbook pages for the holidays, even on Project Life pages.

So there are lots of ways to use the tags in the Oh What Fun Tag Project Kit, whether you use them all for gift wrapping or whether you use them for decorations, cards, scrapbook pages or other projects!

Thankful Gift Bag

Thankful Gift Bag

The other day I had pulled out a past gift bag project as inspiration for something else I was making with a friend, and looking at that project inspired me to make this Thankful Gift Bag. So you never know where inspiration will strike!  I updated this gift bag by using the Gift Bag Punch Board. At first, though, I had pulled out the Gift BOX Punch Board and was wondering why this bag was not likely to come out right as I started to use the wrong punch board!! I wasted a few pieces of paper on that one!  Anyway, it’s easy to make a gift bag with the Gift BAG Punch Board.

You choose the size bag you want by the measurement you want on the bottom of the bag. Then you can make it any length (tallness) you want. This is a very basic bag with Soft Suede Cardstock. I think I would have liked it more with a little stamping or embossing, but sometimes plain is okay too. The tag on the front is stamped with a greeting from the Thankful Forest Friends Stamp Set in the Stampin’ Up! Holiday Catalog.  I used different colors of Stampin’ Write Markers to color in the stamp with multiple colors.  Just remember to “huff” (breathe) on the stamp after coloring with markers to remoisten the ink before you stamp. Then I stamped the acorns in the For All Things Stamp Set  (a beautiful fall stamp set from last year, still current, in the Annual Catalog).  I cut out a couple of the acorns and adhered them to my greeting, which was die cut with the Big Shot and the Deco Labels Collection Framelits.

Use this Thankful Gift Bag to tuck in a little gift for a hostess when you go out during the holiday season.

Veteran’s Day Patriotic Scrapbook Page

Veteran's Day Patriotic Scrapbook Page

Today is Veteran’s Day, a day we honor our military for their service and patriotism to our country and here is an example of a patriotic scrapbook page any of us could make.  Chances are every single one of us knows someone who is in the military now or has a family member who has served, whether recently or long ago. If we looked in some old boxes of photos, we can all probably pull out some vintage photos of our relatives and ancestors from their military service. Why not take some of those out of the box and put them on some quick and easy scrapbook pages and either tuck in an album or even frame and put on the wall as decor.

In case you would be interested, the genealogy website Ancestry.com is allowing anyone to look up military records free through today.  I was slow in reading my email and only noticed it yesterday but it has been going on for a few days. You may have to register in some way, but they occasionally have these opportunities to look up certain family records.  I find it fascinating to see actual records right on my computer screen and perhaps a real signature and handwriting by that person. I found records for my father, both my grandfathers, and a few other relatives.

Take a moment today to think about the veterans who have served our country in peace and in war and active military who are serving us right now around the world. If you would like to read more about the history of Veteran’s Day, just visit this link.
