Make Pretty Floral Cards With the Color Your Season Products During August

Color Your Season Floral Samples

Make beautiful floral cards with the products in the Color Your Season limited time suite! It’s called Color Your Season because with this set of stamps and dies, you can make cards or other projects for any of the four seasons!  Do a little watercoloring with the new colors of Watercolor Pencils with real Stampin’ Up! colors! There is already a set of Watercolor Pencils in the Annual Stampin’ Up! Catalog, but this new set is called Watercolor Pencils Assortment 2.

You can purchase just the stamp set, Blended Seasons, which is pretty enough just in itself. You can also purchase just the framelits dies, Stitched Seasons, if you wanted to use them with other stamp sets you have.  They have dies that will create nice frames, plus embellishments. OR if you want it all, you can get the Bundle, Blended Seasons, at a 10% savings.

With this special limited-time set of products, you can make cards with spring or summer flowers, or Christmas cards and cards for fall!  You are all set!

Remember, this Color Your Season group is available only during August, while supplies last.  Don’t wait too long just in case!  And I would highly recommend the Watercolor Pencils for sure especially with Blender Pens of you don’t already have them.  Go ahead and enjoy this set before we get into the serious holiday crafting season!

Animal Expedition Baby Card Eclipse Technique

Animal Expedition Baby Card Eclipse Technique

The Animal Expedition Designer Series Paper is some of the cutest paper this year in the Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalog, and here it is used in this Animal Expedition Baby Card with the Eclipse Technique.

I was actually just playing around with this paper and the Eclipse Technique seeing if the letters for “BABY” would fit on a paper layer. When I changed to another design for something I was making, I thought I might as well make a baby card out of what I had already die cut!

There are MANY coordinating colors with this Animal Expedition Designer Series Paper! I always like to write the names of the coordinating colors on the back cardboard of the designer paper so I don’t have to grab my glasses to read the small print!  I wrote and wrote and wrote the names of colors for this DSP! One of the colors is Crumb Cake, which I used for the card base. For the next layer, I used Soft Suede, which surprisingly isn’t on the list of colors!  But I liked it.

The Eclipse Technique is when you die cut or punch out something and then replace that image where it was cut out but popped up on dimensionals so you can just barely see the color underneath.  Oh how I love the Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals!  It saves time cutting down the regular Stampin’ Dimensionals when you need a very small piece. In this case, I used the Large Letters Framelits Dies to spell out Baby.

Here are photos of both sides of the whimsical Animal Expedition Designer Paper.

For a little finishing touch, I tied a piece of the Shady Spruce Ribbon in the Metallic Ribbon Combo Pack around the card.  You also get Petal Pink Ribbon in this combo pack.

This could be a baby card for a girl or boy, and the paper can be used for adults and older children as well – anyone!  There is also a coordinating Bundle with stamp set and dies, the Animal Outing Bundle, that adds even more to your cardmaking and scrapbooking.

Remember the Stampin’ Up! Bonus Days that are going on during August!  With every $50 you spend this month on an order (before shipping and tax) you will receive a coupon code via email (be sure to save that email and write down your codes!) to spend on an order in September! (I printed out my email when I got it from my order so in case something happens to may email or computer, I will have a copy.  Stampin’ Up! cannot replace any lost coupon codes!

Use a punch or other dies to try the Eclipse Technique and make a fun card like this Animal Expedition Baby Card Eclipse Technique.

Coloring With the Stampin’ Up! New Watercolor Pencils

Coloring With Watercolor Pencils 3

One of my favorite things to do since I first learned about Stampin’ Up! and stamping was coloring with Watercolor Pencils. We had a set of Watercolor Pencils back 16 years ago or so when I started stamping as a customer, but they were not the exact Stampin’ Up! colors.  They went away for years, then they were brought back in an assortment of Stampin’ Up! colors. Of course, for us stampers, one assortment is not enough!  We need more colors!  So during the month of August, you can buy a second assortment of colors of Watercolor Pencils! These pencils will likely be in a future catalog, but if you want them now, you better purchase them in August so you don’t have to wait!

I decided to make my card using the Oh So Eclectic Stamp Set and Stazon Ink to stamp three flowers to later color.  The leaves are stamped in Granny Apple Green, stamped off once first.  The card base is Flirty Flamingo Cardstock with a layer of Whisper White. When I was finished, I stamped the little images around in the empty spaces of the card with Flirty Flamingo Ink. Then I tied on a piece of Crumb Cake Twine from the Nature’s Twine assortment to embellish the card.  The greeting is from the same Oh So Eclectic Stamp Set.

I love the Watercolor Pencils because you don’t have to be really precise.  Notice how I colored in the flowers rather sloppily in the photo below!  Just lay down some color.  You can always go back and add more or mix two colors, whatever you like.

Coloring with Watercolor Pencils 1

Then, use a Blender Pen or Aqua Painter to smooth out the coloring. On Whisper White Cardstock I prefer the Blender Pen (used lightly) so that the paper doesn’t pill from too much moisture. For more serious watercoloring, use Shimmery White Cardstock or even better, Watercolor Paper.

Here is a closer look AFTER I used the Blender Pen to smooth out the colors.

Coloring with Watercolor Pencils BlendedThe original set of Watercolor Pencils has 13 colors:  Basic Black, Basic Gray, Bermuda Bay, Calypso Coral, Daffodil Delight, Early Espresso, Melon Mambo, Old Olive, Pacific Point, Pumpkin Pie, Real Red, Rich Razzleberry, Whisper White.

The second assortment, Watercolor Pencils Assortment 2have 10 colors:  Balmy Blue, Cajun Craze, Cherry Cobbler, Coastal Cabana, Crushed Curry, Flirty Flamingo, Garden Green, Gorgeous Grape, Granny Apple Green, Night of Navy.

Watercolor Pencils are a great inexpensive way to have a lot of colors at hand for coloring. Be sure to pick up this second assortment during August to avoid a wait! Also check out the Limited Time Blended Seasons Bundle and save 10% on both the stamps and dies. (The Watercolor Pencils are not included in this Bundle.)

I know you will have fun coloring with the new Watercolor Pencils and trying different techniques!

Easy To Make Note Holders For Your Purse or Desk

Post It Note Holders

One of the first things I learned to make as a stamper, and a project I did at my first workshop as a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator was this Easy to Make Note Holder For Your Purse Or Desk!  These are easy and fun to make, and you can customize them any way you like!

The base is Melon Mambo cut 3 1/4″ x 7 1/4″.  Score at 3 3/8″ and 3 7/8″.  This will allow for the thickness of the “sticky notes” you will put inside. That’s all there is to it, really!  I decorated all of these with 3″ x 3″ squares of the Garden Impressions Designer Series Paper. It’s on sale today and tomorrow in the Buy 3 Get 1 Free DSP Sale!

To decorate each note holder, I stamped and/or punched a daisy with the Daisy Delight Stamp Set and the Daisy Punch. I think it is best to adhere the daisies flat onto the front so they don’t get stuck as easily on something in your purse, if that is where you are going to put it.  If it is on your desk, you could pop them up with Stampin’ Dimensionals.  For a little pizzazz, I added a Clear Faceted Gem in the center of the daisy.

Just adhere a pad of notes to the back of the inside of the holder.

Note Holder Inside

Another option would be to make a belly band to go around the note holder and stick the daisy on top of that.  You could also have a matching pen if you were giving these as a gift!

Grab some pieces of cardstock and scraps of designer paper and make some of these easy note holders for your purse or desk and give some to a friend!

Don’t Forget the Stampin’ Up! Designer Paper Sale Ending July 31!

Stampin' Up! DSP Buy 3 Get 1 Free Sale July 2018

Don’t forget that the Stampin’ Up! Designer Paper Sale is ending July 31, and by golly, that is in just a couple of days!  How can that be??  Here’s one more reminder about it so you don’t miss out!  This sale is Buy 3 Get 1 FREE, so basically you are getting 4 packages of paper.  Order 3 and then the 4th package will be free.  You can get multiples of the same paper or all different.  It’s not every designer paper, but rather select papers.  However, you are sure to find some that you should have in your stash for the new catalog!

I personally have several favorites!  The Petal Promenade is the photographic image kind of paper.  Stampin’ Up! went outside, picked some pretty flowers, made some bouquets and took pictures!  Then graphic designers turned the photos into designer series paper. It is really beautiful!  And I loved finding out how it was made!

The Garden Impressions 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper is actually a paper stack. Pretty designs in easy to cut up sizes to make cards or other sizes.  If you hate to cut up your 12″ x 12″ designer paper, I think these smaller versions make it easier to handle!

My newest favorite is the Animal Expedition Designer Series Paper!

Animal Expedition Designer Series Paper

Even if you don’t have young kids around, you might have them somewhere in your life!  And even if you do or you don’t, these animal designs are so darn cute, you will find plenty of uses for this paper!  They can be for adults as well and might be especially good sometimes for a “masculine” card. I would think teenagers and young adults would think the paper was cute without being too “cutesy” and “childish”.  You have to see this paper in person.  I didn’t even order it right away, but when I did, I loved it in person!

I think you can use the paper on its own, even without the stamps and dies. I’m not sure I can hold out without the stamp set, but I do have the paper and have plenty of plans for it!  You can use punches and your other dies to separate out some of the animals without having the exact dies.  But in case you want it all, you can get the Animal Outing Bundle and save 10%!

July 31 is Tuesday which is the last day of this sale!  Be sure to get your free package of designer paper after you order 3.  Don’t forget!  It’s the Stampin’ Up! Buy 3 Get 1 Free Designer Series Paper Sale with select papers.

An Easy Card For a Special Day

A Card For a Special Day

If you need an easy card for a special day for someone, this might be it!  It’s a monochromatic card, all in Petal Pink. I think it looks pretty elegant for a special occasion, like a birthday, graduation, wedding, or anniversary, yet with the Big Shot, it is very easy to make!

The greeting is stamped and then die cut with one of the Stitched Labels Framelits Dies.  The greeting is stamped from the Stitched All Around Stamp SetYou can even buy the dies and stamps together in a Stitched All Around Bundle.  I love the phrase and the pretty font.  The die cut piece is beautiful too!

But let’s talk about that embossed background!!  Is it beautiful or is it beautiful??!  It’s the Tufted Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing FolderThis is a new embossing folder in the new Stampin’ Up! Catalog. It’s one of the heavy duty ones that really creates a deep impression in the cardstock.  It’s recommended that you just lightly spritz the paper with water before embossing to loosen up the paper fibers.  This will make a wonderful background for many cards!

To finish off this card, I added some Petal Pink ribbon from the Metallic Ribbon Combo Pack underneath the greeting.  And for just a little bit more fanciness, I added a few matching pearls from the Share What You Love Artisan Pearls.

So stamp a greeting, die cut with the Big Shot, emboss the card front layer and add some ribbon and pearls for embellishments.  That’s as easy as it gets making a very easy card for a special day, for a special someone, with Stampin’ Up! products!

Petal Promenade Beautiful Day Card

Petal Promenade Beautiful Day CardHere’s another easy card, the Petal Promenade Beautiful Day Card, made with beautiful designer series paper and a greeting. A couple embellishments add a nice finishing touch!

The card base is one of the new In Colors, Grapefruit Grove.  The designer paper is the Petal Promenade Designer Series Paper.  This paper is so pretty and is made up of photographic images of flowers on one side.  Stampin’ Up! actually brought in bouquets of fresh flowers, photographed them, then made them into designer series paper!  You can appreciate the paper even more after watching the video of how they designed it!

For this card, I used the backside of the flower design for the main area. It’s just a very soft, subtle design that goes beautifully with a strip of the flower side of the paper which I placed on the left side of the card.  I added a bit of Whisper White 1/8″ Sheer Ribbon around that piece and just tied a little knot.

The greeting is from the Love What You Do Photopolymer Stamp SetThis is a great set with pretty flower images and great sentiments to use! It is die cut with the Stitched Shapes Framelits Dies and layered on a scalloped circle die cut from the Layering Circles Framelits Dies.  It’s difficult to see in the photo, but the three little dots on the greeting are the Faceted Dots.  These come in several colors and sizes and the faceted surface gives them a little sparkle. Very pretty in person!

This Petal Promenade Designer Series Paper is one of the select papers in the Buy 3 Get 1 Free  DSP Sale at Stampin’ Up!  Choose 3 papers on your order and when you add the 4th package, it will be FREE!  Great time to get that designer paper you hadn’t ordered yet or stock up on your favorites.

You can’t go wrong with this Petal Promenade Designer Series Paper if you like to make beautiful cards that are simple and elegant.  Here is another card I made showcasing the floral side of the paper and one of my favorite greetings.  This paper is beautiful for summer and can be used for so many occasions from just a “Thinking of You” card to an engagement or wedding card.  Who do you know who wouldn’t be thrilled to receive this Petal Promenade Beautiful Day Card?

Easy Elegant Cards With the Laser-Cut Paper

Laser Paper Cards

It is so easy to make beautiful cards with the Delightfully Detailed Laser-Cut Specialty Paper like these laser paper cards.  Can you tell which one is not like the others?

The card in the lower left-hand corner is the one that is different.  The Delightfully Detailed Laser-Cut Paper is Whisper White on one side and Very Vanilla on the other side!  My card in the lower-left is made with the Very Vanilla side of the laser paper. It’s a slightly different look, also beautiful and makes this laser-cut paper doubly versatile because you can use it with other papers whether they coordinate with white or vanilla.

Delightfully Detailed Laser Cut Specialty PaperThis is what the laser-cut paper looks like just laying on the table.  In the package, each sheet is separated with tissue paper to keep the intricate designs from getting tangled up with each other!  I like to cut out a portion just slightly larger than the area I want to cover and then trim it down once it is adhered to the card or even when I am holding it securely on the card. Either sponge on some Multipurpose Liquid Glue with a piece of sponge or a Sponge Dauber or use teeny tiny dots of glue on the back of the laser paper.  The greeting on these cards is from the Love What You Do Photopolymer Stamp Set.

These papers can also be sponged or brayered with another ink color.  I haven’t tried that yet, but it can be done!  Check out the Sponge Brayer that you can use.

Be sure to check out the Delightfully Detailed Laser-Cut Specialty Paper in the Stampin’ Up! Store. It is not on the DSP Sale, but while you are there, choose your four designer papers out of the selection and the 4th one will be free!  This is a good time to stock up!

Stampin’ Up! Savings in July and in August

Stampin' Up! savings

During July and August, you just may be able to save a little bit of money while enjoying stamping!  Here are a couple specials you may have heard of and one more new thing just out today.

Yesterday I went into a craft store and was quite surprised to see pumpkins and fall things out on the shelves!  I shouldn’t have been surprised, especially in a craft store, because crafters have to get started early for craft shows and things coming up in the fall. Today at the grocery store I noticed it is “Back to School” time already with lunch bags and school supplies on display!  So even though I think summer just got rolling,  it probably is only about a month until some schools start back again! Something that usually goes along with the start of school nowadays is Sales Tax Holidays, usually for school clothing, shoes, and school supplies.

Today Stampin’ Up! posted information about the Sales Tax Holidays in some states, mostly in August.  Amazingly, some of our Stampin’ Up! products do count as school supplies so you might be able to save a few pennies anyway if your state has a tax holiday.  You’ll have to click on the photo and probably zoom in to read this. It’s very small print.  Your state will have more information when the time comes.Sales Tax Holiday 2018Click to read!

An Anniversary Card On the Waterfront

An Anniversary Card On the Waterfront

I love these red Adirondack chairs on this Anniversary Card On the Waterfront.  The card could be for anything, but adding a little red heart to match the chairs makes it into a card for someone special.

I think I decided to use the red chairs, die cut with the Seasonal Layers Thinlits Dies before I decided on the rest of the card!  I love red and I love those chairs!  I was envisioning the chairs on the shore of our favorite little lake in Michigan, where it is a lot cooler than here in Houston. I could have sponged in some sand and water, but I got out the Waterfront Stamp Set and used that. I think instead of a lake in Michigan I created a beach in the South Pacific or somewhere!!

This stamp set, Waterfront, is a real sleeper if you ask me.  I didn’t even pay much attention to it in the past Occasions Catalog when it came out until I saw what people were stamping with it. It is a tremendous stamp set to use to make yourself look like a true artist!!

The card base is Crumb Cake Cardstock layered with Shimmery White, probably my favorite kind of paper.  It is good to use with anything close to watercoloring if you don’t have official Watercolor Paper.  You might be able to see the tiny bit of shimmer in my photograph from the paper. Even in person, it is very subtle but when you see it, it is beautiful!

I started by stamping the sand with Crumb Cake ink, stamping off sometimes, other times full strength.  The water is Coastal Cabana Ink and the mountains, I think, are Crumb Cake and a bit of Early Espresso.  For the sky, I just used my Aqua Painter to paint in some Balmy Blue ink and then added a little yellow and orange to look like a sunset.  I also used the Aqua Painter just a little bit on the water and mountains to smooth them out a bit and make it look more watercolored.  I really was thrilled with how it all turned out!  You can do it, too!!

The little heart is die cut from Stitched Labels Framelits Dies.  You could also just cut out a little heart by hand or draw one in the sand!  I thought about doing that, too.  I didn’t put a greeting on the front, but you could, for whatever occasion.

If you are looking for an interesting stamp set, I would try the Waterfront Photopolymer Stamp Set and just play with it! In fact, you can purchase a set of all the products to make some notecards! It’s called the Waterfront Cards (149037).  You get the stamp set, a Clear Block, small note cards, two ink pads, and Nature’s Twine.  This Waterfront Stamp Set was designed by a Demonstrator who reached $1 Million in sales!

Try out this stamp set so you can make artistic cards like my Anniversary Card On the Waterfront or these cards that I made previously.

A Trio of Broadway Bound Easy Square Birthday Cards

A Trio of Broadway Bound Easy Square Birthday Cards

I got in quite a bit of stamping yesterday, and out of nowhere (as in not any ideas I had of making these cards!), I came up with this Trio of Broadway Bound Easy Square Birthday Cards.  I was in one of those “idea modes” of looking at stamping ideas online, starting to make one of the ideas, then deciding to make another idea I saw and so on!  These cards came about while wanting to make a card with one of these Broadway Bound Specialty Designer Series Papers but wanting to be able to possibly use it for a class and have enough. If you cut 12″ x 12″ designer paper into 4″ x 4″ pieces, you can get 9 pieces out of one sheet of paper. So these cards are 4 1/4″ x 4 1/4″ square! And each one is embellished a different way!

Each side of the Broadway Bound papers is beautiful!  Either you get a birthday or designer print on one side and a foil accented design on the other side. It’s beautiful paper!

Broadway Bound Birthday Candles Square Birthday Card

This card uses the gold foil-accented side with birthday candles. Of course the black, white and gold color scheme is so elegant and striking!  The greeting is from the Detailed With Love Stamp Set and accented with the Gold Mini Sequin Trim and the Gold Metallic Pearls.  I just used circle punches for the greeting and layering of black and gold foil.

Broadway Bound Birthday Balloons Square Birthday Card

This card is made with the balloon print in the Broadway Bound Suite papers layered on Lovely Lipstick Cardstock.  The greeting is also from the Detailed With Love Stamp Set and I accented it with Rhinestones on the stamped dots.  The ribbon is the 1/8″ Lovely Lipstick Grosgrain Ribbon.

Broadway Bound Birthday Cake Square Birthday Card

I admit for this card I purposely cut the paper so that the tier cake would be in the center and not partially cut off! The greeting is the same as on the candle card but it looks different because it is die cut with an oval shape and layered on a scalloped oval. The card base is Lemon Lime Twist and the ribbon is the Lemon Lime Twist 1/4″ Ombre Ribbon. I added a layer of Lovely Lipstick Cardstock so the paper is cut down another 1/4″ to 3 3/4″ x 3 3/4″.

On the inside of each card, I adhered a piece of Whisper White with a scrap piece of designer paper, about 1″ x 4″, on the bottom of the white to decorate the inside a bit and have the white paper on which to stamp or write a note.

It would be fun to make multiples of any of these cards or all of them and give an assortment as a gift to someone or keep them on hand for your own use. Maybe even make smaller versions to fit into the Mini Pizza Boxes.

As I said, these cards were not planned at all, even though I had all kinds of other ideas for cards and projects going on. These cards just popped into my head as I worked and as I thought of how I wanted to use the designer paper to have many pieces. So even if you think you don’t know what to stamp, just get out some supplies and start cutting paper and stamping some things and see what you come up with! The more you stamp the more ideas you will get!

Here’s another card I made with the birthday candles paper. It’s made in a slightly different way so be sure to click and check it out!

Just have fun stamping and playing with your supplies! Take advantage of the Designer Series Paper Sale going on now until July 31 with select papers Buy 3 Get 1 Free! The Broadway Bound paper is not on the list but you’ll find great choices on the sale!
