A Guest Visitor at the Stampin’ Up! Convention!

You heard a lot from me about the Stampin' Up! 2012 Convention this summer in Salt Lake City even though I did not attend this year. As a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator, I find going to the convention one of the most fun things I can do! For me, the biggest, biggest, biggest thing is all the creativity on display! So many displays and live demonstrations that you just think as soon as you get home you will make everything you saw at Convention! But there is also an overwhelming feeling of being with some of the nicest people you could ever meet, whether the Stampin' Up! employees or other demonstrators. I think we are all so happy to be there in the first place plus we just are a friendly bunch!

But what would the Stampin' Up! Convention look like to an "outsider"? This year Stampin' Up! invited a freelance writer, Connie Myers, and she shared her experience in an article on Scrapbook Update:

Demonstrators attended general sessions and classes throughout the three-day convention. General sessions included technique and product demonstrations, prizes, company announcements, achievement awards and on-stage recognition. Classes included several make- and-take sessions using new colors and products. New products were also displayed on Product Showcase boards. Dozens of display boards showcased class projects, general session techniques, and creative cards, scrapbook pages, and projects created by demonstrators. Demonstrators took photos to use as examples when planning their parties, workshops, and classes at home.

I know you will want to read her whole article and see the photos! I think she gave a complete report of what she observed at the Stampin' Up! Convention, plus, as I mentioned, experienced for herself the fun and friendliness available to everyone. You'll also learn a little history about Stampin' Up!

You can read the entire article here.

It might be unusual to encourage someone to read the Comments after the article, but I think in this case reading the comments will just add to your knowledge and excitement about the Stampin' Up! company and attending the Stampin' Up! Convention!

And if you would like to attend the Stampin' Up! Convention next summer for the 25th anniversary of Stampin' Up!, please get some information about joining the fun HERE.

Ghoulish Googlies Embossed Halloween Treat Bags

Ghoulish Googlies Frankenstein Halloween Treat Bags

For a good time, make some Ghoulish Googlies Embossed Halloween Treat Bags!! You realize that August is flying by and fall will be upon us.  Maybe not temperature-wise here in Houston, but in our minds! As we start putting out our fall decor for our homes and start wearing fall-colored clothing, we will know Halloween is not far behind! Whether you are expecting trick-or-treaters at your door, or have a class party to plan or want some easy party favors, these Halloween treat bags will be fun to make. Now's the time to just start thinking about our fall and holiday projects before time gets too short.

For an extra touch and texture, run the bag through the Big Shot Die-Cutting Machine inside an embossing folder! Just stick the bag inside the folder! Nothing tricky about it. The Spider Web Folder #120889 is of course a great one for Halloween! But the new Chevron Folder #127749 or Argyle Folder #127750 or Houndstooth Folder #123134 are also interesting ones! For the Chevron one, I purposely put the bag in crooked to make it look a little creepier!

Ghoulish Googlies Spider and Bat Halloween Treat Bag

I've already blogged about what a deal the Ghoulish Googlies Bundle is if you want the Ghoulish Googlies Designer Kit and the Googly Ghouls stamp set (and you do!). And you won't be limited to just making treat bags either.  See my post HERE with another cute Halloween bag using a Googly Ghoul! I used these products in two stamp camps and the ladies loved them!

Shop Stampin' Up! Online at your convenience! Get your Googlie Ghouls HERE!

Stampin’ Up! Ghoulish Googlies Designer Kit for Halloween

Stampin' Up! Ghoulish Googlies Designer Kit

Since I love Halloween, one of my favorite items in the Stampin' Up! Holiday Catalog is the Ghoulish Googlies Designer Kit (#126914) !  I'll tell you right now, you might as well order at least two kits if you are going to order one!  Once you get started, you will want to keep creating! It is designed for making Halloween treat bags, but you can also use the tags on cards or other projects. It's fun to use the Embossing Folders on the bags and create some texture and interesting looks!

Included in the Ghoulish Googlies Designer Kit are:

  • 20 printed double-sided tags, 10 ea./2 designs
  • 10 glassine bags
  • 50 5mm googly eyes, with adhesive on the back!
  • 10 8" pieces Pumpkin Pie/Whisper White Baker's Twine

That package of googly eyes is really fun to play with when they are all still stuck on!!

And for added value….If you also purchase the Googly Ghouls stamp set in wood- or clear-mount along with the Ghoulish Googlies Designer Printed Kit, the Ghoulish Googlies Bundle will save you 15%!  AND YOU DO WANT BOTH!!  Do the math and see what a good deal it is!

You might even want to order an extra package of Googlies (the googly eyes) because they are just so fun to use on the Googly Ghouls once you get stamping!

Stampin’ Up! Stamped Candles–Oldies But Goodies!

Stampin' Up! Stamped Candles

Look what I found! Some OLD Stampin' Up! stamped candles! The other day I did a little "cleaning" in my front bedroom where I stash all my retired stamping products and all my unfinished craft projects and materials from before my Stampin' Up! days. I found these candles in a drawer, but what is interesting are the old Stampin' Up! images from back when I became a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator.

The fruit images are from a stamp set called "Citrus & Such" and stamped with the old Spectrum ink pads, which were a strip of several colors of ink so you could get a multi-colored image. The flower on the candle in the middle was perhaps in my Starter Kit when I signed up, "Fresh Flowers". Not much choice, if any, back then of what you got in your Starter Kit! The last candle has a heart from "Love Always" and the bottom border is a wheel called "Love Swirls". I think my upline made that one for me.

Stamped Tin Bucket and Jar

And just a couple more nostalgic items:  a small tin bucket stamped with a variety of stamps and an old jar, painted, and then stamped with Fresh Flowers. I think my stamping, and everyone's, has come a long way in ten years!

I'm sure any demonstrator or stamper who has been around Stampin' Up! for awhile will recognize these old images!  I think maybe the first stamp sets you start out with become near and dear to your heart forever!

To start your journey with Stampin' Up!, check out the fully customizable and affordable Starter Kit for only $99!

Halloween Fancy Favor Googly Ghouls Gift Bag

Halloween Fancy Favor Gift Bag

It's time to start thinking about Halloween craft ideas so here is a Halloween Fancy Favor Googly Ghouls Gift Bag made with the Big Shot and the Fancy Favor Bigz Die. It's perfect for holding a little cello bag of Halloween candy or a little gift! Yesterday I had the pleasure of doing a little stamping with the doctors and staff of West U Wellness during their inservice meeting and this was one of our projects! I love seeing new stampers add their own creative touches to their project and many of them did! I think the Googly Ghouls stamp set and the Googlies googly eyes make any Halloween stamping project fun!

Here's how to make this project:

  • Die cut the Fancy Favor Bag and assemble….you'll need a 12" x 5 1/2" piece of paper.
  • Punch a 1 3/4" Circle in the front of the bag.
  • Add a small strip of Howlstooth & Scaringbone Designer Series Paper at the bottom.
  • Stamp one of the Googly Ghouls (you've GOT to have this stamp set!!) with Stazon ink and color in if you want. Stamp and punch the "Boooo" greeting and oval scallop.
  • Cut out your ghoul and adhere to the front of the bag, also adhering the googly eyes.
  • Add a cello bag of Halloween candy or a gift.

If you like Halloween, you should really consider the Ghoulish Googlies Bundle in the Stampin' Up! Holiday Catalog.  Save 15% by purchasing the Googly Ghouls Stamp Set and Ghoulish Googlies Designer Printed Kit Together!

You can shop online HERE for any Stampin' Up! stamping supplies!

Create a Cupcake Birthday Card

Create a Cupcake Birthday Card

Let's celebrate one special birthday with a Create a Cupcake birthday card. August seems to be a big month for birthdays but I didn't think it was that way when I was growing up. There was mine and my grandpa's in August, making me on the young side when I started school.  By junior high I knew another girl that had a birthday in August. But now I know lots of people with August birthdays! And I need to make some cards!

This card started as being somewhat of a CASE of a card in the Stampin' Up! Catalog, but I went on to make my own version. The Create a Cupcake stamp set is a cute one and if you have the matching Cupcake Punch #121807 there's no cutting involved! I also made good use of the Big Shot Die-Cutting Machine #113439 with the background embossed with the Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder #117335, the pretty border cut with the Finishing Touches Edgelit #1217010 and the doily layer cut with the Delicate Doilies Sizzlit #126999. The little flowers stamped at the bottom with Versamark #102283 are also in the Create a Cupcake stamp set.

You can't see in the photo, but I embossed the tiny cherry with our Cherry Scented Stampin' Emboss Powder #127035. I think the cherry was too tiny to have an impact with the scent but it was fun to try. And for some bling I got carried away with the Basic Rhinestone Jewels #119246

Create A Cupcake Birthday Card with Rhinestones

Be sure to make the inside of your Create a Cupcake Birthday Card pretty as well!

Using My Digital Studio Version 2

Hello MDS 2-001

Just a silly little card for my first creation on my newly installed My Digital Studio Version 2! I started with one of the card templates that only had that top quote bubble. I added the next two and the text and the dahlia in the corner!

Since I already had the original version of My Digital Studio I could have purchased just an upgrade with very little content. But when I looked over everything that was included in the mds 2+ version, it made much more sense to go ahead and get that. The mds 2+ has the software with almost 75 new features and tons and tons of artwork, embellishments, designer kits, and more.  Even though I already had a lot of it, there was a lot I didn't have and for the price it was a great deal.

Here's a tip for installation:

If you have an anti-virus program running, particularly AVG, pause it or turn it off or whatever you need to do. My new MDS 2+ would not install on either my laptop or desktop until I thought of the anti-virus program.  Once I paused it, it installed just fine! I haven't had time to take in all the new features yet, but there's plenty of time. There will be so much fun ahead playing with this new My Digital Studio!

If you would like to try My Digital Studio Version 2, all you have to do is go to the Online Store here and select the MDS 2 Free Trial. During that 30 days you can purchase any extra downloads you would like, but really you will receive plenty to try. You will have full capability to use the software and print your projects.  Even if you did the MDS Express Trial you can still do this one!  You have nothing to lose and everything enjoyable to gain!
