All About the Paper Pumpkin Kit May 2023

My Paper Pumpkin May 2023 Kit, Exploring In Color, arrived this weekend in my mailbox, and look at the cover of the box!! If this isn’t a beautiful box for this month’s Paper Pumpkin Kit, I don’t know what it would be. Wouldn’t you like to find this Paper Pumpkin Kit in your mailbox? I consider it a gift I give myself!

Open the lid and see the beautiful presentation, just like a gift, as I say!

The contents of the kit are all assembled in the package and shrink-wrapped in plastic to keep everything together!

Open it up and look at all the contents of the kit! You get just about everything you need except for scissors! Even adhesives are included, usually tiny Mini Dots and dimensional. This kit has cards, even decorated matching envelopes, plus some twine for embellishing.

Paper Pumpkin May 2023 ink & stamps — Every kit has an ink spot (a mini ink pad!) and an exclusive stamp set that you can keep and use in any other projects you make. With your first Paper Pumpkin Kit, you will receive a special acrylic block to use with your stamps.

I love to take everything out and lay out all the parts and see what I got in my Paper Pumpkin Kit! This May kit came with free stickers (Lower right in photo) just to use anywhere you like. It also had a brand new In Color, Copper Clay for the ink spot.

Here are the three cards, as designed in the kit. I always make part of the kit exactly as designed and shown in the instructions, but usually I leave some in case I want to make an alternative idea. Paper Pumpkin, on the back of the instructions, always shows some ideas you can use if you have some of your own stamping supplies. Hundreds of others can be found online after people receive and make their kits.

Paper Pumpkin May 2023 Scrapbook Page Idea

As soon as I saw the Paper Pumpkin box and opened the kit, the cards reminded me of the national parks we have been to. Such beautiful colors and scenery are portrayed on these cards and envelopes! Right away I thought that if I was making scrapbook pages (which I always intend to do!), I could use the cards on a scrapbook page. I pulled out a 12″ x 12″ piece of Garden Green cardstock just to give you an alternative idea.

At the bottom is one of the full cards in the kit. Yes, they have scenery on the front and back! Then, for this example, I grabbed two vacation photos from quite a few years ago when we went to Yellowstone National Park and the Tetons. If I were making this a real scrapbook page, I would layer the photos on some coordinating cardstock and maybe the card also, plus add some journaling and a title. All of that would likely fill up the page, or maybe I could squeeze in one more photo. I know I bought a retired Stampin’ Up! stamp set years ago with which to make scrapbook pages for this exact trip, but as usual, “I haven’t gotten around to it yet!”

When my Paper Pumpkin Kit finally shows up in my mailbox each month, usually the weekend is a good time to sit down and make the project in the kit! These are the three card designs to make with the kit and from there, you can make whatever you want with the supplies!

I usually like to make the project as designed first, and then decide if I want to continue or make some alternates. There are always alternative ideas for each Paper Pumpkin Kit on the internet and even on the directions Stampn’ Up! sends in the box!

This kit was to celebrate ten years of Paper Pumpkin! I think I attended the Convention when the first kit was introduced, or at least I remember I got a free kit at the Convention! I always say it’s a present you give yourself to get a papercrafting kit right in the mail with everything you need inside, but it really does seem like a gift! You open the cute box and inside you’ll find the package of supplies all wrapped up in colored tissue paper, just like a gift! So it IS a gift you give yourself!! And you can gift someone else, too!

The cards in this kit have a pretty design already printed on the front, and then there are diecut pieces of foliage and ferns and pots to add to the card front. There are pieces on which to stamp a greeting and add that to the card. I put the greetings on two cards but I may use another greeting from another stamp set on some of the other cards. So the kits are always easy to make for anyone.

This celebratory kit even came with an extra FREE stamp set to use any time! Paper Pumpkin often has little surprises for us!

Here is a video to see how this kit went together. There is always a video you can watch plus the directions that come in the kit. Some months there are extra full kits or “refills” that are available in the Online Store IF you are a Paper Pumpkin subscriber. If you decided you loved a particular kit and wanted another one, or, for example, at Christmas time maybe you want two kits to make a lot of gift tags or cards. My February Paper Pumpkin, the Sunshine & Smiles Kit, came the other day and I worked on it last night! It coordinates with the Rain Or Shine Suite in the Spring Mini Catalog. Same kind of cute characters and bright colors! The great thing about the Paper Pumpkin Kits is that you get everything you need to make the project and all the directions so you don’t have to come up with the ideas yourself! And this is a kit that makes some really cute cards!

These cards have a peek-through card front, so what you see in the center of the card is actually the inside of the card. If you wanted to write a personal message you would probably write it on the back of the card or simply sign your name and a couple of words on the inside margins of the card. In this photo below you can get a feel for the 3D nature of the design with some elements popped up on dimensionals.

The photo above shows the three different designs that can be made with this kit. I usually like to make the cards as designed and then save some for making alternate ideas.

The photo below is an alternate idea suggested in the directions. I didn’t find the instructions until later on the Paper Pumpkin blog but I copied it pretty well from the photo on the instructions. For this alternate, I provided my own Basic White card base and cut the kit card apart so I could use the gingham for the background on the front of the card and then cut down the inside rainbow of the card to fit on the front. I added some grass from the kit, the two characters, an umbrella, clouds, and a greeting. And of course, the fun part, adding some enamel dots on all the cards for a little bling or raindrop bling!

Of course, you can’t get this kit in the subscription anymore, but if you become a subscriber, while supplies last, you could get the “Refill” for the Kit. You would get all the pieces to make the cards, just not the stamp set and ink spot. So you could make the cards as designed or use your own ideas and use stamps you already own for any greetings you want.

Paper Pumpkin Kit December 2022 Good Things

If you are not familiar with Paper Pumpkin by Stampin’ Up!, it is a monthly subscription papercrafting kit that comes in the mail to you! Every month you get this cute box with all the supplies you need, including adhesive, to make the project for that month. Mostly the kits are cards, but they can be little treat boxes or a home decor item, a small album, gift card holders, special projects for holidays….almost anything! With the first kit, you receive a special acrylic block on which to mount your stamps that come in a set in the kit. You can always watch a video, plus read the directions to make each project. Paper Pumpkin Christmas Cards in the October 2022 Kit!

It seems like Saturday afternoons are good times to work on a Paper Pumpkin Kit! These Christmas cards were made with the October 2022 Paper Pumpkin Kit! Very cute! I only made two of each of the designs and then I like to go back and see if I want to make some alternative ideas with the supplies in the kit.

Of course, it is past time to join Paper Pumpkin and have this kit mailed to you, but most of the time, it is possible for you to be a subscriber and then go back in the Online Store and purchase a Past Kit or Refill. The Refill has all the supplies you need except for the stamp set and ink spot, because if you already got the full kit you would have those already and would only need the consumables. Sometimes if the Past Kit isn’t available, the Refill will do and you can use your own stamp sets and ink pad with the kit contents.

Paper Pumpkin Spooky Treats and Ghost Card

Here are the Spooky Treats I made from the September Paper Pumpkin Kit plus one Ghost Card I made with the cute ghost stamp and greeting in the Kit! I just loved this Paper Pumpkin Kit and can’t wait to make more of the treat boxes and maybe more “alternative” ideas! I’m thinking about ordering more kits! They will be so fun for Halloween!

Paper Pumpkin Kits are a papercrafting subscription kit you receive in the mail once a month. It is “usually” cards but some months, especially for the holidays, it might be something different. Everything you need is in the kit and with your first kit on your subscription, you receive a special acrylic block. Even the ink is included in a small square ink spot plus adhesives! There is even a video you can watch on your phone or computer so you can see how the kit goes together if you prefer. There is no obligation to continue for any certain amount of time and you can always skip a month if you choose. You can subscribe HERE!

The Spooky Treats Kit made the three treat boxes you see in the photo above. I love that the box is so easy to crease and fold and assemble into the box. That’s where the video comes in handy for the first time or two! And then you decorate the “sleeve” that wraps around the box and it’s all ready for you to add treats later or a small gift! You could make your own sleeve for another holiday or occasion if you wanted to. Do anything you want with your Paper Pumpkin Kit!

For the card, I used a card base of Basic Black with a layer of black and white polka dot paper in the Perfectly Penciled Designer Series Paper. You could also use the Black & White Designs Designer Series Paper in the Holiday Catalog. I stamped the ghosts on Basic White cardstock, Orchid Oasis, Tahitian Tide, and Parakeet Party, then cut them out by hand. The Happy Halloween greeting is in the Paper Pumpkin stamp set in the kit and is stamped with Orchid Oasis ink, then die cut with one of the Stylish Shapes Dies. The ghosts are popped up on Stampin’ Dimensionals. Very fun and easy to make! The kit makes these three versions of treat boxes, six of each!

You might assume that you are too late to get this cute kit, but while supplies last, you CAN purchase the full kit in the Stampin’ Up! Store or the refill if you already have the kit with the stamp set and ink. The only catch is that you must be a Paper Pumpkin subscriber to purchase the kit or the refill.

Is this the most gorgeous Paper Pumpkin Kit we ever had or is this the most gorgeous Paper Pumpkin Kit we have ever had??! This Sweet Sunflowers Paper Pumpkin Kit for August 2022 is so pretty! You have never seen prettier envelopes (lower right corner) than this kit has! Some crafters are cutting up the envelopes to make into cards they think the designs are so pretty! Some crafters are cutting the cards in half and using the beautifully designed back of the cards to make more cards! In any Paper Pumpkin Kit, you get all the supplies, including adhesive, to make the project, whether cards or treats or whatever it is. It’s one of the best kinds of mail you can get in your mailbox every month!

This Sweet Sunflowers Kit probably has the most alternatives you can make with the contents than any other Paper Pumpkin Kit ever invented! As I said, people are cutting things apart to make more things! But first, I always like to make the cards as designed, which is what I did for this blog post! Then I will think about other ideas, if I want to make different designs and then make more cards!
