Florals in Bloom Strips Card

Florals in Bloom Strips Card

This Florals In Bloom Strips Card is perfect for the beginning of May! April showers bring May flowers! And even better, May brings a new Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalog THIS Tuesday, May 6th! That’s the date the new catalog will go live online or in your hot little hands if you have a hard copy! The catalog is shrinking a bit, I have to say, as more and more products are being shown online only in the Online Exclusives. This isn’t a bad thing because it means Stampin’ Up! can introduce new products for us many times through the year without waiting for the next catalog or mini catalog. However, it does mean we all need to check online to see everything that is being offered. And instead of some products completely dropping off the face of the earth at the end of the Annual Catalog in retirement, they are moved to the Last Chance category (replacing the Clearance Rack) so that they are still available, some at a discount, until they sell out.

This Florals in Bloom Designer Series Paper is coming in the new Annual Catalog May 6th. There is a very similar floral paper coming in the Online Exclusives May 6th also. At least they look very similar to my eyes and I keep getting them mixed up! Yesterday when my new order (preorder) came with the Floral Impressions Designer Series Paper in it, I thought I had mistakenly ordered a duplicate pack of the Florals in Bloom paper! Maybe they won’t look so similar to you, but just be aware there are two floral paper packages!

Since I had been using the Florals in Bloom Designer Paper, I had some scraps, and I decided to try to make a card with them. I trimmed down some pieces to 4″ x 1 1/4″ and played around with the arrangement. The card base is Strawberry Slush cardstock, one of the “old” colors coming back as a new In Color. Check and see if you still have some cardstock, ink, and marker from years ago in your stash. I didn’t measure or do the math to place the strips on the card base, I just eyeballed it and it all fit fine. If you have a different color card base and then a layer of Strawberry Slush, you would need to make your strips a little smaller to fit. Or you can bump the edges together and not have space in between.

The greeting is in the Memorable Blooms Stamp Set (on the Last Chance List)and is stamped in Strawberry Slush ink. I used one of the pieces in the upcoming Foiled Frames & Labels Ephemera Pack. You will find this package in the Online Exclusives coming May 6th and is part of the Floral Impressions Suite Collection. It’s great to have this ephemera package with various shapes and sizes of pieces you can use for labels or make into tags with the nice gold foil edges. To put a Strawberry Slush layer under the Foiled Label, I also punched out the next foil piece which is a little larger and held it in place on the Strawberry Slush cardstock and trimmed around it. I think I could have done it by hand just around the stamped piece as well. I just wanted an extra little border to help it stand out against all the florals in the background. This greeting piece is popped up on Stampin’ Dimensionals.

For a little embellishment I added a White 1/4″ Ribbon (165616) tied into a bow. This ribbon is current now. It is narrow and woven so it works with almost anything. I didn’t leave well enough along, though! I added some of the new 2025-27 In Color Flat Pearls in Strawberry Slush to the greeting and scattered around on the designer paper.

If you like florals, you have some pretty papers coming May 6th to choose from….or just get them all!

Real Red Card For a Friend

Real Red Card For a Friend

This Real Red Card For a Friend was made to demonstrate how you can make a card out of Christmas paper for another occasion! The red and white striped designer paper on this card is in the A Little Bit Festive Specialty Designer Series Paper. It’s on the Last Chance List now, discounted 30%! It is called a specialty paper because it has lots of precut images and frames to use for making Christmas cards, plus three sheets of designer paper. The good thing is, the “other side” of the holiday design papers are all-purpose designs like this stripe that you can use any time! If you didn’t use up all the Christmas paper in this package, turn it over and check out the designs you can use right now!

I love Real Red so this card was fun to make with a Real Red card base to go with the Real Red and White striped designer paper. Real Red has probably always been my favorite Stampin’ Up! color because it’s the perfect red!

The central panel is made with the Countryside Corners Dies. Basic White is layered on a larger diecut of Real Red. The greeting is stamped in Real Red ink from the Mixed Labels Stamp Set, one of the new stamp sets released this week in the Online Exclusives. I stamped it up a little high so I would have room to add some flowers on the bottom half.

I found these flowers and foliage in the Fully Flowering Ephemera Pack. You will find this on page 19 in the Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalog. The flowers are just a black outline piece so I colored it with Stampin’ Blends alcohol markers. I used Real Red on the flowers and Old Olive and Granny Apple Green on the leaves. The other two foliage pieces are in the ephemera pack. The flowers are popped up with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

For a little embellishment, I used a retired Real Red ribbon and Iridescent Pearls.

NEW LAST CHANCE LIST

Last Chance Products Ad1

This is a new way to present the retiring products from catalogs, which beginning today are products in the September – December 2024 Mini Catalog (or Holiday Mini Catalog as we know it!). But from now on, this list will contain any retiring products from any catalogs and from Online Exclusives and Kits in the Kits Collection. (This does not include Paper Pumpkin kits.). Some products will be discounted and product discounts may change over time. This will take the place of the Clearance Rack.

The good thing is that everything is in one place and instead of, for example, a stamp set retiring from the Holiday Mini Catalog, will not go away at the end of the catalog, but instead will be in the Last Chance list for however long, until it sells out and is then discontinued. So you will have access to all those products “while supplies last” once they are on the Last Chance list. You can sort for “Discount Applied” in the Online Store for the Last Chance List if you want to see the sale items without scrolling through everything.

What this means is that the “retirement list” for the Holiday Mini is out today but it is in the Last Chance category and those products will remain there until they sell out, whether one day or whether two months. Go check it out!
