Kintsugi Inspirations Just For You Card

Kintsugi Inspirations Just For You Card

This Kintsugi Inspirations Just For You Card came about, just like the card from yesterday’s post, when I realized with the holiday season coming up and always new products, I hadn’t used some of my older designer series paper. Just seeing this pattern with the small blue flowers on stems and gold foil accents made me want to use it on a card right away! I also had a scrap of designer paper with these various vases and flowers. Right away I was inspired to cut out the blue and gold vase and use it on this paper.

The card base is Misty Moonlight with a layer of the blue flowers in the Kintsugi Inspirations Specialty Designer Series Paper. All of these papers are beautiful and very different from what we normally have and use. I made a couple of diecut circles for the greeting, both dies in the Spotlight On Nature Dies, one in Misty Moonlight and one Basic White. The greeting is stamped with Misty Moonlight ink from the Traditional Labels Stamp Set.

After placing the greeting flat on the card, I popped up the vase which I had fussy-cut from the paper on Stampin’ Dimensionals. After I did that I got the idea, from seeing a scrap on my table, to fussy-cut a branch of the blue flowers and insert those into a little slit I made in the top of the vase. I used Mini Dimensionals on the back of the flower stem to pop it up like the vase.

As you know, I couldn’t leave well enough alone and had to add an embellishment! I chose the Iridescent Foil Gems to add around the greeting. It’s usually difficult to stop once you get out a package of gems or sequins!

You’ll find the whole Kintsugi Inspirations Suite in the Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalog on pages 58-60. That means it likely won’t be discontinued any time soon so you still have a good chance to get this unique paper and even the whole Suite if you like!

Kintsugi Inspirations Vases Thinking of You Card

Kintsugi Inspirations Vases Thinking of You Card

All you need are dies or scissors to cut out these beautiful images for this Kintsugi Inspirations Vases Thinking of You Card. And they are easy to cut out if you don’t have the dies!

If you like something different, this Kintsugi Inspirations Specialty Designer Series Paper is for you! I think a lot of us learned a new term….Kintsugi…when the new Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalog came out and this Suite was in it! Kintsugi is a traditional Japanese technique of repairing broken pottery with gold lacquer. These gold veins become a celebration of imperfection instead of hiding it.

The card base is Lost Lagoon cardstock, a color I really like but I don’t use very often for some reason. But it is one of the coordinating colors of the Kintsugi Inspirations Suite. After seeing some scrap strips in my package of DSP, I got the idea to use a strip at the bottom of the card as sort of a base or table for the vases.

The vases are all fussy-cut with scissors, but there are the Inspiring Imperfections Dies which would be great to have. These dies cut out the large vases and short ones, flowers, and even the shape for the gold veins or use it as a branch. For my card, the single flower is also fussy-cut and a slit put in that short vase or cup so I could slip the flower stem into the vase.

You can adhere the vases flat on the card or with Stampin’ Dimensionals or both. Two of my vases are popped up and one flat. Since I happened to have the Spotlight On Nature diecut vellum circle on my table, I decided to use that also on the card. I just slipped it behind the vase and under the table strip at the bottom. You have to be careful where you put adhesive when you are using vellum because it can show through, but usually there is a hidden spot where you can put adhesive and it won’t show. On this card sticking it behind the one vase and behind the paper strip at the bottom it was fairly well held down, but after adhering the greeting, I also put glue on the back of the vellum behind the greeting so it definitely won’t show.

The greeting is part of the Blooming Phrases Stamp Set. I thought the font went nicely with the card design. I wanted something simple and sophisticated. This greeting is stamped in Lost Lagoon ink on Basic White and then diecut with one of the Textured Notes Dies. For a little embellishment besides the gold foil on the vases, I used the Strawberry Slush & Pretty In Pink Gems in the clear color with a bit of gold on them that I thought went well with the card.

Don’t be afraid to cut out images from designer papers if you don’t own the matching dies or if there are not dies that match the images you want. Your cutting doesn’t not have to be perfection and you can do it as a relaxing exercise while you watch TV or just sit and relax!

Kintsugi Inspirations Thinking Of You Card

Kintsugi Inspirations Thinking Of You Card

I only recently got this paper to make this Kintsugi Inspirations Thinking Of You Card. What in the world is Kintsugi? According to the explanation in the Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalog, “Kintsugi is a traditional Japanese technique of repairing broken pottery with gold lacquer. The mended gold veins become a celebration of imperfection instead of hiding it.”

This Kintsugi paper, the Kintsugi Inspirations Specialty Designer Series Paper, is one that when you open the package and start paging through the sheets you absolutely gasp out loud because it is so stunning! The gold foil and the designs on many of the papers just take your breath away. And on the “other side” of the paper are soft petite florals and other generic designs that you can use any time.

For my first card with this designer paper, I chose a Mistly Moonlight card base. The background layer on the card base is one with swirly blue lines on a dark background. I cut it at 4″ x 5 1/2″ because I wanted it to be the length of the card base. Then I chose a center panel with pretty blue flowers and gold accents. It is cut at 3″ x 5 1/2″.

I only bought the package of designer paper in this Kintsugi Inspirations Suite Collection. There is also a stamp set, embossing folder, dies. and flower accent gems. Sometimes I feel like I can make a lot of things with just the designer paper since I can’t buy EVERYTHING. And you can make pretty things with just this Kintsugi paper, but I think at least the stamp set and dies would be good to have with this paper. Since the paper is so different, you almost need other parts with the same style.

For my card, since I do not have the dies, I cut out two vases from a sheet of the designer series paper. I chose two vases in the same color, different sizes, and difference gold foil patterns on them. The bases are popped up with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I also cut out the flower that is on this same paper with the vases. The flower is a little tedious to cut out for sure! I made a little slit in the short vase in which to slip the flower and it also has a Dimensional on the back.

The greeting is from the Saying Something Ephemera Pack. I wasn’t sure what I would use, but when I saw this in that pack, I thought it blended well with the look of the card, so no need for me to stamp a greeting on my own! Something stamped and embossed with gold would look pretty, though!

This is one of the Suites in the Annual Catalog, so you could pair it with another Suite anywhere in the Stampin’ Up! Online Store and get the second Suite at 50% off. Just don’t add any other Suite products to that order that cost less.

This Kintsugi Specialty Designer Series Paper is really beautiful and different so if that is something you are looking for and you can take advantage of the Suite BOGO 50% off sale as well, it’s time to do some shopping!
