Stampin’ Up! New Stamp Set and Die Packaging

Stampin' Up! New Packaging

Tomorrow, November 4, will be new Kits in the Kits Collection at Stampin’ Up! and new Online Exclusives available to everyone! I think it is so much fun to frequently be getting new products even if it keeps our heads spinning trying to keep up! Here are three examples of the new packaging Stampin’ Up! is beginning to use! These are new Online Exclusives you will be able to order tomorrow, and if you do, you will get the New Stampin’ Up! Stamp Set & Die Packaging!

If you recall, back in August Stampin’ Up! announced several big changes. The red rubber cling stamps would be discontinued and all stamps would be photopolymer (the clear stamps) eventually. The reason for this is that the red rubber raw materials were getting harder to source. Since the photopolymer stamps are thinner, the packaging would change from the hard plastic stamp cases to a similar kind of packaging dies have been coming in, the sturdy, durable clear plastic. This saves space and you can, if you want, put the stamp set and dies together in one envelope. A big plus is that artwork of the stamps AND dies will be included with the package. One odd thing is that while dies and stamps now have the same name, the stamp set packaging shows the name of the stamp set boldly at the top. The dies say “Stampin’ Cut & Emboss” at the top with the name of the dies in small print just above the artwork! So some of us may still need our reading glasses!

Those of you with fantastic organizing skills may find this new packaging either an exciting challenge or a new problem! I don’t think I plan to change over any of my old things into new packaging, but some people will want to. Stampin’ Up! is selling plain envelopes if you want extras for other sets you have. These are called Stamp & Die Organizers (167772) and will be available starting tomorrow in the Online Exclusives. You get 10 organizers, 5-5/8″ x 9″, with a self-tuck closure. These will help you organize your products to be all the same if you like. You can also purchase empty Standard Stamp Cases in the Online Store if you have any need to those for your organizing.

We’ll hear lots more about these changes in the coming days and as you get some new products in the new packaging you will decide how you want to store your stamps and dies or if you even want to change the way you do it now. These envelopes are taller than the die packaging we have now. You’ll just have to see how everything works for you! But don’t be surprised if you get new packaging in your next order, depending on what you order.

Surprising Product Changes at Stampin’ Up!

New Stamp and Die Packaging

Yesterday Stampin’ Up! announced some product changes that probably took almost all of us by surprise. There will be lots of different opinions about the changes depending on what you like, but I find that after everyone gets used to the new things it turns out okay.

Here are the changes.

  1. Stampin’ Up! is discontinuing red rubber cling stamps and all stamps will be photopolymer. I have been finding that I’m so used to the photopolymer and being about to see through the clear stamps that in some cases I’m disappointed I can’t see through the cling stamps for placement.
  2. Also being discontinued, are Stampin’ Write Markers. Oh my! We have had these markers since before I started stamping. We even had the nifty carrying case for ALL of the markers. BUT I have found that I rarely use mine any more because I use Stampin’ Blend markers all the time. But you still have a chance to get your hands on the Stampin’ Write Markers while they are available.
  3. New are the stamp and dies packaging! This will make some people happy who like saving space and having the artwork for the dies on the package which we don’t have now. Other people who don’t like their storage system changed up may not be happy. Even if you prefer another kind of storage and organization you can still do that with your own system.

Watch this video from Stampin’ Up! explaining the changes and the reasons why. Then I’ll give you the information on dates.

PS: That stamp set and dies you see pictured above? It’s a sneak peek of a new set and packaging coming in the November Online Exclusives!

The Ribbon Mystery: Does Your Ribbon Do This??

Messy Ribbon

Here’s a rather silly post for a Saturday as I recover from celebrating one of those “big” birthdays yesterday. Not that I was celebrating hard, just reading texts, cards, opening a gift, answering a few phone calls, plus two long ones with my boys and one more coming today from my daughter. That was a lot for a person of “this age”!! When you’re young you never really think you will ever be “this old” and actually, I still don’t think I am “this old”! I guess that’s good!

My friend sent me a funny card with two ladies having tea and the card says, “Isn’t it weird being the same age as old people?” It certainly is! And to think of friends and family who are just a few years older than me…..wow, they are REALLY getting old! How has this happened?!

Does your ribbon do this? When I discovered this the other day, I wondered if my ribbon was playing around during the night or something! What has been going on here?! It’s kind of like when you wonder what your socks have been doing, disappearing one at a time, for no reason. My long-time acrylic ribbon holder finally completely fell apart recently and I haven’t found a replacement yet, so my few rolls of current ribbon are just laying on the desk, under all kinds of stuff. A good hiding place I suppose! Even though this white ribbon is retired, it was the best choice for the card I was making so I started pulling it out of the heap of ribbons. Why was so much white and red all unwound? Obviously, some mischief had been going on.

I tried just pulling out the loose ends of the white ribbon to lead me to the actual roll, but I couldn’t get it separated from the red. Finally, I had to just pick up both the red and white rolls of ribbon and take them to my kitchen table. But there still was no easy separating of them! Maybe I had tossed some rolls of ribbon onto my desk and the loose ends had gotten kind of intertwined a bit, but these two ribbons had “tied the knot”!

Messy Ribbon Knot

I can understand that maybe, somehow the ribbons had gotten unwound on the desk, hiding under the Paper Trimmer, Paper Pumpkin boxes, envelopes, and cards I’d already made, but how did the two ribbons get almost tied together into a knot?

It took a minute but I finally got them untied and untangled and rewound. I probably better check and see that the other ribbons are up to under there! Maybe you should check and see what your ribbon is up to in the dark of night! And maybe I need to do some cleaning up and organizing!

Some Pieces of Storage by Stampin’ Up! Available!

Stampin' Up! Storage Ad Square

It looks to me like some of the pieces of the Storage by Stampin’ Up! are available now! The Ink Pad & Marker Storage Trays, the Stampin’ Blends Storage Trays and the Open Storage Cube. Maybe it will just be for a short while, so if you were wanting any of these pieces, go check it out in the Online Store HERE and see if it works for you! These really are nice pieces! You can configure them however you like and they work great in small spaces.

Since I stamp at my kitchen table, I bought some of the pieces and just have them at the end of the table against the wall and they work great holding at least some of my frequently used items right there instead of spread around on the end of the table.

Go check it out!

Today is the day! These are white plastic modular units for storing ink pads, markers, Stampin’ Blends, and open storage cubes. The open storage cubes can be used for various storage needs, whatever you want to put inside them! We don’t have the storage yet so in the next few days, you will see ways to use all these pieces. Note that the old ink pads DO NOT fit in the ink pad holders. They are designed for the new style of ink pads. Perhaps the old ones and others, like Stazon and Memento, will fit in the empty cubes. We will have to see!

Also available beginning today, April 1st…..this very pretty Floral Grid Paper with the new Stampin’ Up! artwork in the corners! It’s lovely and I use Grid Paper all the time. I will say this paper does not have measurements printed on it although you can pencil the inches in. It’s very “happy” paper to stamp on! Just having the grid lines to keep everything straight or center or use it as scrap paper to easily do some trial stamping or make sure your stamp is inked up or check a color of ink or marker is very handy. I couldn’t stamp without grid paper! Available while supplies last!
