Get Some Watercolor Wonder Note Cards for Creative Fun!

Watercolor Wonder Petite Petals Card

Be sure to look at the Watercolor Wonder Designer Note Cards and Envelopes in the Stampin’ Up! Occasions Catalog before they are gone. You get a nice variety, plus envelopes, and you can do a little or a lot to decorate the front of the cards! They are printed on watercolor paper and coordinate with all the other items in the Watercolor Wonder Suite in the Occasions Catalog. On this card, I stamped the vine with the the flourish in the Everything Eleanor stamp set. Then the really easy and fun part – I punched the flowers out with the Petite Petals Punch from the Watercolor Wonder Designer Series Paper! If you poke the flowers in the middle on a foam pad, such as the Stampin’ Pierce Mat with the opposite end of the Paper-Piercing Toolit will make the petals of the flower pop up, making them 3-D.  It’s very cute and just adds a little something than just being glued down flat. Add a Candy Dot to the center.

Here are some of the other cards I made for fun! Just use various stamp sets with greetings or images.

Watercolor Wonder Note Card Too Kind Flowers

This card was almost a loss, I thought!  I dropped the stem stamp on the edge of the card which I thought ruined it.  But no!  I decided to stamp LOTS of stems so the wayward stems would not be obvious. It worked out well, especially stamping off and stamping the lighter stems just for them all to blend in together. The stems and flowers are from the Too Kind Stamp Set.

Watercolor Wonder Note cards Perfect Pennants Banner

Such a cute border on this card, already printed for you! I added a banner stamped from the Perfect Pennants Stamp Set as well as the heart.

Watercolor Wonder Note Card Thank You

This card was so easy to make, yet so beautiful!  The flowers are already printed on the card and I just stamped the greeting from Four You and added a small rhinestone jewel to the end of the word.

You will find the Watercolor Wonder Designer Note Cards at this link and the entire Stampin’ Up! Online Store HERE.

Quatrefancy Hello Lovely Panel Card

Quatrefancy Hello Lovely Panel Card

Time is really getting short on retired Stampin’ Up! products, so I thought I would use some of my Quatrefancy Specialty Designer Series Paper and the Hello, Lovely Stamp SetI have to admit, I haven’t been crazy about this pack of paper, but if I looked more at each paper individually, maybe it wasn’t too bad!  On this card, I just cut some 3/4″ strips of paper from scraps in the package and staggered them a little on this card front. Although I tried to center the center strip, I got it off a little bit which made the strips too far over to the right.  Since there “are no mistakes in stamping!” I decided to fix it by covering the extra wide margin on the left with some of the Whisper White 5/8″ Organza Ribbon (my favorite ribbon for a long time!). I stamped the greeting in Island Indigo ink and layered on pieces of Strawberry Slush and Pool Party card stock. Kind of a fun design to show off the papers in the Quatrefancy pack.

So much happening at Stampin’ Up!

Pop Up Box Card UT Graduation

Pop Up Box Card UT GraduationI think these pop up box cards are almost like a present in themselves so if you are looking for an idea for a special graduation card, I think a pop up box graduation card would be a good choice! It’s hard for me to believe that it is the end of the school year for most students and time for graduations.  I thought the New Year just got going! Some of the materials I used on this card are retired Stampin’ Up! products, but some are current, and the designer paper is actually from the UT bookstore, maybe several years ago, in a scrapbooking package. I’ve made quite a few UT graduation cards and announcements the last several years with a pack or two from the bookstore! So if you are looking for school colors or designs, that is the place to look.

After making the pop up box, if you plan on putting it inside a regular size envelope, just be careful as you place whatever images and things you attach to the inside braces. Make sure they don’t stick out too far to the side or too far out the top.  Sometimes if you fold it one way, they do stick out but if you fold it the other way, they are all tucked inside.  So be sure to check that.  Then just stamp whatever congratulatory, fun, or personalized greetings and images that you want to put on the card. I didn’t get a very good photo of the inside with all the things I put inside, but you can get the idea.  Every card should be different anyway when you personalize it.

Here is what the card looks like folded flat with a belly band around it to decorate it and to keep it folded.

A Kim and Kanye Wedding Card With Bling

Kim and Kanye Wedding Card

Now that Kim and Kanye have gotten married, I thought I should make them a wedding card with bling! This card probably doesn’t have enough bling for Kim Kardashian, but it will do for a start! She can always add more diamonds and jewels to it later! Can you even imagine the opulence of their wedding?

Most of us will never attend a wedding like Kim and Kanye’s, but when your friends or family members get married, I’m sure you want to give them a special handmade wedding card to send your good wishes. This one is made with a card base of Very Vanilla and the Modern Medley Designer Series Paper (it’s discounted on the Retired List right now!) The wedding cake was made with pieces of Very Vanilla card stock embossed with a variety of Stampin’ Up! Embossing Folders, some of which are retiring.  I then added some Rhinestone Jewels and Pearls, some Flower Trim (retired) and a greeting from the stamp set Love and Laughter as well as some Silver 1/8″ Ribbon.  I love how these little accessories can add so much to a card!

Whether or not you are sending Kim Kardashian and Kanye West a wedding card or gift, we all know someone getting married from time to time. If you need stamping supplies to make wedding cards, or perhaps cards for other special occasions, please visit my Stampin’ Up! Online Store. You’ll find everything you need!  Be sure to check the Weekly Deals and the Retired List, plus the Clearance Rack and see if you can find any good deals!

Wisteria Wonder Flower Shop Sympathy Card

Wisteria Wonder Flower Shop Sympathy Card

Sympathy cards are a fact of life and we all need to send them eventually. This card is rather monochromatic with Wisteria Wonder card stock and Wisteria Wonder stamped flowers from the Flower Shop Stamp Set. The Wisteria Wonder background is embossed with the Fancy Fan Embossing Folder. The Whisper White strip across the bottom of the card is embossed with the Delicate Designs Embossing Folder.  My favorite ribbon is across the front, the Whisper White 5/8″ Organza RibbonIt is not tied in a bow – a strip of ribbon is placed across the front and adhere to the back of the card layer and then a separate bow is tied and adhered to the top of the ribbon with a few Mini Glue Dots.

The Flower Shop flowers are stamped with Wisteria Wonder ink on Whisper White card stock and then punched out with the coordinating Pansy Punch. In fact, you can purchase a Bundle of the Flower Shop stamp set, in wood-mount or clear-mount Bundle and the Pansy Punch and save 15%. But you have to do it while the bundle is still available because the Bundle is on the retirement list. However, the stamp set and punch are both available separately in the new catalog. Yeah!

The sympathy greeting is from one of my favorite stamp sets, Teeny Tiny Wishes. You can find almost any greeting you need in this stamp set, and then you can easily punch it out with the Word Window Punch or others. I recommend getting the wood-mount in this stamp set because all of the greetings are rather small and I think easier to handle in the wood.  There is a similar new set in the new catalog and that will definitely be on my list!

I love the Flower Shop flowers and the Pansy Punch. You can make lots of pretty cards with this stamp set.

If you are interested in this Flower Shop Bundle, be sure to order it in my Stampin’ Up! Online Store before June 4th.

In Color Petite Petals Card

In Color Petite Petals Card

Here’s another card we made at my stamp camp on Sunday with the Petite Petals Punch and the new In Colors 2014-16. It was a last minute creation and my mojo wasn’t working. But then – in the end it came together and I think everyone liked the card! It’s just a simple Whisper White card base with the top wrapped in Gold Baker’s Twine three times and tied. The flowers are punched with the Petite Petals Punch in all the new In Colors:  Mossy Meadow, Hello Honey, Lost Lagoon, Tangelo Twist, and Blackberry Bliss. The center of the flower is Crumb Cake punched with the new Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack, a set of three small punches of the flower, a star and a heart! And for an embellishment I used some Candy Dots in the center of each flower.  LOVE THOSE CANDY DOTS!!!

Here’s a flower tip:  To make little punched flowers like this look a little 3D, poke them in the center with something like the Paper Piercing Tool or a Bone Folder or a pencil eraser or whatever you have. It will make the petals stand up just a bit.

The little greeting “hello” is stamped in the beautiful new ink color Blackberry Bliss with the stamp set A Dozen Thoughts. We all found we loved the new Blackberry Bliss ink! The color is beautiful!

I know May has sped by, but it still seems like the debut of the new catalog is eons away on June 2nd. But it will get here! If you don’t have a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator that you work with and are interested in Stampin’ Up! products, please email me and I can send you the new catalog that is coming soon! It will be available online starting June 2 at Noon MT, but most people like having the hard copy in their hands!  I know I do! Just email me at Karen@KarenStamps.com if you have an interest.

Stampin’ Up! Weekly Deal May 20 2014

Stampin' Up! Weekly Deal May 20 2014Stampin' Up! Weekly Deal May 20 2014

Be sure to also look on page 2 when you check out the Stampin’ Up! Weekly Deal this week! Lots of ribbon available this week plus two Digital Downloads for My Digital Studio. Stop and think about how you can use the ribbon other than for making cards or scrapbook pages. Use it for gift wrap or give a collection of ribbon, maybe tape, scissors, and some plain wrapping paper as the gift itself to someone who could use a started gift wrapping set! We can all use ribbon from time to time. We used to tie ribbon in our hair when we were girls! Maybe you bake a plate of cookies or special bread for a friend now and then.  Tie some ribbon around it and make it special!

The Burlap ribbon is really on trend now and is fun to use. Use it as is or even pull it apart and use a bunch of the individual threads for a new decorative look.

The deals will be available May 20 – 26, 2014. Don’t delay!  And don’t forget about the Retired List of stamp sets and Retired List of Accessories!  The end of the Stampin’ Up! catalog is coming soon!

Have fun checking out all the current products at my Stampin’ Up! Online Store!

Flower Shop Pop Up Box Card

Flower Shop Pop Up Box Card

This Flower Shop Pop Up Box Card was one of the projects we made yesterday at my Stamp Camp with some stamping friends. It’s actually easy to make once you know how and can be varied in size if you want it smaller or larger.  This size is made with half a sheet of card stock and will fit in a regular size envelope. It’s amazing that something that looks so 3D can be folded up to fit perfectly in an envelope! You can design a card like this for almost any occasion! Just change up the images, the greeting, the colors and you can make anything!

Flower Shop Pop Up Box Card Folded

This is the pop up box card folded. I made a belly band to go around it just to hold it flat and decorate it.

If you are in the Houston or Sugarland area, sign up for my Mailing List in the upper right corner of my blog and you’ll find out when I am having a stamp camp. Stamping is not too hard for anyone, not even a beginner, so feel free to join in! Graduation Announcement Pocket Card

Pocket Card Graduation Announcement

If you need some graduation announcements, this pocket card makes a nice one. I made a similar announcement for my son a few years ago that you can see in THIS POST. This uses a half sheet of card stock “the long way”, so 4 1/2″ x 11. Then it is folded in half and the  little flap in front folded down. I made an insert with all the commencement information, printed on my computer. I used some retired product on this card, some new, and some using My Digital Studio as I didn’t have the exact stamp I needed. You can probably purchase a scrapbooking pack of paper and embellishments in the college bookstore if you want the official college colors. These pocket cards work great for other kinds of invitations, gift card holder, just cards in general.

The colleges and schools often offer a gigantic box of announcements and some families just aren’t going to send out 50 or whatever the quantity is.  So sometimes it makes sense to just make a few of your own and personalize the occasion!

Last night I remembered a little too late that the University of Texas at Austin was having a live webcast of their all-school graduation ceremony. I was interested in hearing the speaker and seeing the fireworks at the end! We have attended three of these ceremonies and they were all very nice, but require parking where you can get out easily afterwards, arriving early to get a seat, sitting outside in some amount of heat, eating early so you don’t starve, and mostly sitting, sitting, sitting, and waiting. So I was glad we didn’t have to attend this ceremony this year, but I did catch the end of the webcast. Lots of happy faces in that crowd finalizing their college days and degrees! And I was just in time to see the fireworks over the  UT Tower!

Decorated Flip Album

Flip Album Cover Decorated

I actually got my flip album decorated yesterday that I first told you about in THIS POST and mailed off for a gift. You can see the way it folds from the photos on that blog post better there than here. I have to say I had so much fun decorating this flip album and coming up with ideas, but finally ran out of time and wanted to get it in the mail. I usually start out kind of slow, not many ideas of what to do, and then maybe I’ll look through all my stamp sets to see what words or images might be appropriate. I almost always look online for ideas, maybe by the stamp set name, paper name, or accessory name, or something like “paper flowers”. Out of all that, my brain will usually start coming up with its own ideas or I can just copy. The more you stamp and design, even in one day, the better you will get at it! In a little while, I had so many ideas and was having so much fun, I didn’t want to stop. I hope the recipient will like it, From the first time I saw one of these flip albums (that’s what I call it anyway) I thought it was one of the neatest things I’d ever seen!

The designer paper I used is Sweet Sorbet from Sale-A-Bration that isn’t available any more, but maybe you have some, or you can substitute something else.  Mainly I chose the colors that went with the designer paper (you can see the list on the back of every designer paper package now). That makes it easy to coordinate everything without thinking! The “Oh Happy Day” is from Starburst SayingsThe Gold Foil is cut out with the Starburst Framelits Dies. Now the “Oh Happy Day actually stamps as a starburst but you can very carefully punch it out in a circle with the 2 1/2″ Circle Punch.

Flip Album Decorated Pages on Film Framelits

These pages are just inside the front cover. I used the On Film FramelitsThe little camera is stamped with the Peachy Keen Stamp Set. The filmstrips are stamped with the single stamp, Filmstrip, which retired and I think is no longer available.

Flip Album Decorated Pages2

I stamped the smaller image in So Very Grateful with ink the same color as the cardstock Crisp Canteloupe

Flip Album Decorated Pages4

Flip Album Decorated Pages5

Just use whatever strikes your fancy! You can leave some pages plain so there will be room for photos and memorabilia. Also, be careful when adhering elements. Maybe just adhere the corners where no photo is going to go and then leave the other corner free so a photo can be slid underneath.

I hope you will try a flip album!  It really is fun and easy to do after you do the first one!

Make Something New From An Old Idea: A Flip Album

Flip Album Open

This flip album is something I haven’t made in several years, but I’ve always thought it was one of the neatest ideas ever! This one is going to be a gift, hopefully. It’s not even that hard to make, although it appears to be very complicated.  I think these albums are so much fun! I’m not sure what the official name of it is, but I think I’ve always known it as a Flip Album and there are other variations.

This flip album isn’t finished yet, but it is the basic layout. Now I need to go through and add some embellishments of some kind. But since the pages are relatively small, I don’t want to add too much and not leave room for photos.  I will post pictures when I finish it up. The paper I used is the beautiful paper from Sale-A-Bration 2014 called Sweet Sorbet. I chose that based on my paper supplies and what I thought the person would like who I plan to give this album to. You do need some 12×12 paper in order to make this.

So now I need to go finish up my little flip album and hopefully get it in the mail today!

Why don’t you take an old idea and make something new with it today?!

For any stamping supplies, retiring products, Weekly Deals, the new Endless Birthday Wishes Photopolymer Stamp Set, please visit my Stampin’ Up! Online Store.
