This Florals In Bloom Strips Card is perfect for the beginning of May! April showers bring May flowers! And even better, May brings a new Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalog THIS Tuesday, May 6th! That’s the date the new catalog will go live online or in your hot little hands if you have a hard copy! The catalog is shrinking a bit, I have to say, as more and more products are being shown online only in the Online Exclusives. This isn’t a bad thing because it means Stampin’ Up! can introduce new products for us many times through the year without waiting for the next catalog or mini catalog. However, it does mean we all need to check online to see everything that is being offered. And instead of some products completely dropping off the face of the earth at the end of the Annual Catalog in retirement, they are moved to the Last Chance category (replacing the Clearance Rack) so that they are still available, some at a discount, until they sell out.
This Florals in Bloom Designer Series Paper is coming in the new Annual Catalog May 6th. There is a very similar floral paper coming in the Online Exclusives May 6th also. At least they look very similar to my eyes and I keep getting them mixed up! Yesterday when my new order (preorder) came with the Floral Impressions Designer Series Paper in it, I thought I had mistakenly ordered a duplicate pack of the Florals in Bloom paper! Maybe they won’t look so similar to you, but just be aware there are two floral paper packages!
Since I had been using the Florals in Bloom Designer Paper, I had some scraps, and I decided to try to make a card with them. I trimmed down some pieces to 4″ x 1 1/4″ and played around with the arrangement. The card base is Strawberry Slush cardstock, one of the “old” colors coming back as a new In Color. Check and see if you still have some cardstock, ink, and marker from years ago in your stash. I didn’t measure or do the math to place the strips on the card base, I just eyeballed it and it all fit fine. If you have a different color card base and then a layer of Strawberry Slush, you would need to make your strips a little smaller to fit. Or you can bump the edges together and not have space in between.
The greeting is in the Memorable Blooms Stamp Set (on the Last Chance List)and is stamped in Strawberry Slush ink. I used one of the pieces in the upcoming Foiled Frames & Labels Ephemera Pack. You will find this package in the Online Exclusives coming May 6th and is part of the Floral Impressions Suite Collection. It’s great to have this ephemera package with various shapes and sizes of pieces you can use for labels or make into tags with the nice gold foil edges. To put a Strawberry Slush layer under the Foiled Label, I also punched out the next foil piece which is a little larger and held it in place on the Strawberry Slush cardstock and trimmed around it. I think I could have done it by hand just around the stamped piece as well. I just wanted an extra little border to help it stand out against all the florals in the background. This greeting piece is popped up on Stampin’ Dimensionals.
For a little embellishment I added a White 1/4″ Ribbon (165616) tied into a bow. This ribbon is current now. It is narrow and woven so it works with almost anything. I didn’t leave well enough along, though! I added some of the new 2025-27 In Color Flat Pearls in Strawberry Slush to the greeting and scattered around on the designer paper.
If you like florals, you have some pretty papers coming May 6th to choose from….or just get them all!
