Make this Made With Love Heart Valentine with strips of the various patterns of designer series paper. You can use scraps to make a background for something different! The Made With Love Designer Series Paper is just perfect for all your Valentines. Making valentines always reminds me of elementary school where we often made our own valentines using construction paper, that white paste, and maybe doilies. We would cut out hearts by folding the paper in half and cutting half a heart shape, then unfolding and see what we came up with! Maybe we got to buy a box of assorted one-sided valentines and then stew over who in your class would get which valentine. Or maybe if we were creative, we could glue the boxed valentine to a card made with construction paper. I wonder how many of us now-stampers/scrapbookers/papercrafters were in love with paper, glue, pens, stickers, construction paper, a new box of crayons, chalk, and glitter when we were kids?!
I didn’t necessarily plan to make these paper strips all aligned straight and together like this, but you never know what you will end up creating when you begin! The card base is Real Red. The Made With Love Designer Series Paper strips are cut at 1″ x 3 3/4″. I adhered them to a piece of Basic White cut at the usual 4″ x 5 1/4″. At first I had the strips 4″ long which left a little margin on the sides of the Basic White but not at the top and bottom. So to make it all even, I cut the strips down a little at 3 3/4″. You could cut them narrower and have space in between them. Or adhere them catty-wampus on the Basic White.
Before adhering the piece with the strips to the card base, I wrapped around a piece of Real Red Shiny Ribbon. This is on the Last Chance List. Just cut a piece of ribbon a little longer than the card width and adhere the ends on the back with Stampin’ Seal. Then tie a separate bow and adhere with Mini Glue Dots.
I didn’t plan it, but there was a piece of designer paper lying there begging to be cut into a heart. You can use dies, I just used my scissors, carefully folded the paper in half without creasing it, and cut out half a heart shape. It turned out fine, so I popped it up with Stampin’ Dimensionals. In the meantime, I found something in an ephemera pack to use! In the Unforgettable Times Ephemera Pack I found this gold foil “Love” attached to “this”. That combination of words doesn’t sound too useful to me, so I just cut the two words apart. It was pretty easy. Then I just adhered the word “love” to the heart. Easy peasy! For a final touch, I added three Pearlized Faceted Circles, found in the Spring Mini in the Lovely & Beautiful Suite Collection. These come in three colors – Calypso Coral, Petal Pink, and white. I used the Calypso Coral.
I think we could all make tons of Valentines with this Made With Love DSP and a few greetings and embellishments! It’s February, so it’s time!
