This Cute As a Bug Oh Happy Day Card was fun to make with the cut-apart panels on one of the designer paper sheets. The front panel on the card is a rather plain one, but I cut out some little bugs from the other sheets and made my own little scene!
Here is what the sheet looks like. I cut the three strips of these little scenes and designs horizontally, which were all 4″ in height. Then I could cut apart any of the images I wanted to use and trim them down, if necessary, to make them fit my project.
For this card, I used Mossy Meadow for a card base. On the inside I put a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock so that I could stamp a greeting later or write a personal note since the Mossy Meadow cardstock is too dark for writing. The designer paper layer on the card front and the panel are all part of the Cute As a Bug Designer Series Paper. Even if you don’t care for bugs (who does?!), this paper will win your heart with these cute little guys! Plus, there are other papers with no bugs at all, but still great to use for your projects. I chose this background pattern that almost looks like a quilt.
The center panel is layered on a piece of Mossy Meadow cardstock and popped up with Stampin’ Dimensionals just for a little interest. The designer paper panel is trimmed a little bit to fit on my horizontal card. I cut the designer paper at 3 1/2″ x 3″ and the cardstock layer at 3 3/4″ x 3 1/4″.
From another sheet of the paper in the package, I fussy-cut the little ladybug reading a book and the fluttery creature, perhaps using a large flower, also fussy-cut, for an umbrella. I put her and her flower on top of the tree stump and the little ladybug sitting in the shade of the old tree stump while she reads. They are glued down flat, but you could also pop them up, maybe if you didn’t pop up the whole panel. The greeting is in the Greetings For All Ephemera Pack which you will find in the Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalog. I love these ephemera packs for some quick and easy greetings or other images for cards. Of course, they are great for scrapbook pages too. I did color in the black and white outline greeting with a Stampin’ Blend marker. It is adhered flat on the center panel of the card, but since that is popped up, I had to add Dimensionals underneath the right side of the greeting that was hanging off the center panel. That way it stays even with one part popped up.
There is a whole Suite of products to use with these little bugs. The Sweet Bugs Dies and the Ladybug Garden Epoxy Shapes are currently unavailable, so the Suite is unavailable as well. The dies are due back in stock the week of March 2, and the Ladybug Shapes, unfortunately, will be out until the end of April.
