Lovely As A Tree Snowy Christmas Card

Lovely As A Tree Snowy Christmas Card

Once again I recognized the feel of a Stampin' Up! envelope in the mail yesterday ( I know it sounds crazy, but that's how good Stampin' Up! envelopes are!). I actually gasped when I pulled out this card from my friend Annette because it is SO beautiful! There's that Lovely As a Tree stamp set that I keep telling you about! There is nothing like it! I don't even know exactly how she made this card but I can tell you it is even more gorgeous in person than in this photo! She probably used some masking technique. And of course there is nothing like a little Dazzling Diamonds glitter to add just the right finishing touch!

Annette and I were friends WAY WAY back when when our husbands worked together and when I was first married (and before!). Even though we haven't seen each other in over thirty years since we got transferred to Houston, we have always kept in touch with Christmas cards. So if you have ever wondered if there was any point in sending Christmas cards, even to people you haven't seen in years, this proves it is absolutely a wonderful thing to do to keep in touch! A couple years ago Annette wrote me after Christmas and said she had liked my stamped card and that she had been trying to do some stamping herself. Of course I sent her a Stampin' Up! catalog and we began calling and emailing about stamping. It's been so nice to have a renewed friendship over stamping.  And I feel SURE that someday we are going to get together in person and just have a stamping extravaganza!

Stampin’ Up! Christmas Cards

Merry Christmas everyone!!  I hope you are having a wonderful Christmas Day with your families and loved ones. I just had to share a few Stampin' Up! Christmas cards I received.

One I knew was from my dear friend who got me started stamping in the first place. She has always had a simple, beautiful style.

Jan's Stampin' Up! Christmas Card

We received this card from my husband's cousin who I heard was making cards or maybe doing Stampin' Up!  Well, as I was sorting through the mail that day, I could tell by touch that the envelope was Stampin' Up!  Stampin' Up! has the nicest envelopes! They have a nice smoothness to them and you can stamp on them so well.  Now I'm looking forward to hearing from this cousin again and hear how she got started stamping! (I had to hold the card up so I could get a good photo of the sparkly reindeer!)

Ann's Stampin' Up! Christmas Card

And today I received a card from a cousin of my mother's, and again, I thought, "This feels like a Stampin' Up! envelope!"  Well, sure enough, there was a Stampin' Up! card inside, stamped by someone named "Judy" on the back.  She didn't comment in her note how she got the card…maybe it was stamped by a daughter-in-law or grand-daughter or just some other stamper.  But what a surprise to receive a Stampin' Up! card from this lady!

Vera's Stampin' Up! Christmas Card

Sure, it's faster to send an email or e-card, but I hope real cards in the mail never die out. I believe it is a real gift to receive any card or note in the mail from someone, but what an extra-special treat to get a handmade card! And that handmade card deserves a Stampin' Up! envelope!

I hope you received lots of Christmas cards from your friends and family! It's one of my favorite parts of Christmas!

Lovely As a Tree for Christmas Cards and Tags

Lovely As a Tree Christmas Card

If you need a last minute Christmas card or gift tag, I highly recommend using the tree in Lovely As a Tree.  If there is a stamp set you are likely to own, it is this one (and if you don't, I would put it on your after-Christmas list!).  This is a display card from a Stampin' Up! Convention, but I have made a similar card over and over again in all my years of stamping.  Just ink up the tree, stamp it and without re-inking, stamp again to give that lighter image.  Before you know it, you can have a forest of beautiful trees. For some lovely glitz, add some Dazzling Diamonds glitter with the Two-Way Glue Pen, just scribbling, nothing fancy.  You will be amazed at the beautiful card you can make in a minute!

You Want the New Stampin’ Up! Paper Trimmer!

If you haven't heard yet, Stampin' Up! finally has a new Paper Trimmer #126889…and now, you can also buy the extra replacement cutting and scoring blades!

The following Stampin' Trimmer accessories are now available for purchase:

  • Stampin' Trimmer Cutting Blades (item 126995)
  • Stampin' Trimmer Scoring Blades (item 126996)

You can store the extra cutting and scoring blades in the compartment under the Stampin' Trimmer base.

Be sure to put this new paper trimmer on your next order….and if you are lucky enough to already own it, be sure to order the extra cutting blades and scoring blades.  This is the same cutter featured in the Stampin' Up! Catalog but there was a long delay in being able to order it. Click here to order or read more about it and to watch a video about the Stampin' Up! Paper Trimmer.

Believe me, this trimmer has every feature we have all ever wanted!

Gift Wrap in a Second!! For real!

 Quick Christmas Gift Bag

I have a gift for someone in my family that has to be refrigerated! So it also has to be "hidden" from sight in the refrigerator….not easy! While I was sticking the gift in a brown lunch sack to hide it, I naturally folded over the top of the sack and was planning to attach a note saying to "Keep Out!". But then I thought, why not just punch some holes in the top of this bag and tie a ribbon through, attach a Snow Festival Designer Printed Tag that I can later write the "To & From" on and it's done! It's nothing fancy but then I don't want fancy if it is going to be sitting in the refrigerator until Christmas Day!

So don't forget to use something simple that you can personalize that will save you time with your wrapping!

Joyous Celebrations Tealight Christmas Card

Joyous Celebrations Tealight Card

This is a beautiful Christmas card with a special fold made with the Joyous Celebrations stamp set, the Designer Frames Embossing Folder, and paper from the Festival of Prints Designer Series Paper Stack. I copied it from another demo, Dawn Griffith, who learned to make it with some other demos while they were at Founder's Circle.

Joyous Celebrations Tealight Card Inside

Here is the inside of the card.  You can see that the ovals are punched through all the card layers after just that front portion of the card is scored on the diagonal.  The reindeer image is stamped and embossed on a 3"x3" piece of vellum card stock.

Joyous Celebrations Tealight Card Open

Here is the card opened up with that fold, and the greeting popped up with Stampin' Dimensionals holds it open.  Then just put one of those little tealights behind the oval to light it up!  So cute!

Joyous Celebrations Tealight Card Lit

Here is the card with the little tealight behind the reindeer showing through the vellum. Thanks to Dawn and some other demos for sharing the projects they made with their friends!

Snowman Christmas Tags

Snowman Tags

Aren't these Snowman Christmas tags the cutest things?!  And so easy to make!  This is a great way to make any package special! You could use just circle punches if you didn't have the scallop punches, or probably even vary them other ways according to your preference and supplies!

For these snowman tags, I used the 2 3/8" Scallop Circle Punch #118874, the 1 3/4" Scallop Circle Punch #119854, and the 1 3/8" Circle Punch #119860. The hat is punched with the 1" Square Punch #124094 and just a thin strip cut for the hat brim. The carrot nose is hand cut out of scrap.  The little hearts are punched with the Owl Builder Punch #118074. (What would we do without that Owl Punch?!)  The eyes and mouth I just dotted by hand with a Black Stampin' Write Marker.  The "To: From" is from the stamp set Chock-Full of Cheer.

I punched holes in some of the hats to tie with Baker's Twine #124262 , but left some without string in case I wanted to just stick them on a package.  You could use Stampin' Dimensionals #104430!

Isn't it great all the things you can make with Stampin' Up! punches?!

You MUST just stop now and then in all the busy-ness of the season to do a little something fun for yourself!  Why not make some cute tags for all those holiday gifts?!

Christmas Lights Christmas Card

Christmas Lights Christmas Card

This little Christmas card with Christmas lights on it was fun to make!  I just LOVE Christmas lights!  Unfortunately, the rest of my family does not enjoy driving around oohing and aahing over beautiful Christmas lights.  But I also love to decorate the outside of our house with lights, and this year my husband and our boys put up the lights Thanksgiving weekend.  We also have some "cutouts", as I call them, that my husband cut out with a saw years ago and we painted.  In the daylight now the paint looks pretty bad but at night they are fine.  Then as the air-blown decorations came out we purchased some of those.  The first one, a moose popping out of a package, finally came to an end and we got new ones, our current ones…Santa in the chimney and Snoopy on a plane!  If I had more room, I could be one of those houses that is completely covered in lights and with every square inch of the yard filled with something fun!  Not junky looking but well-planned out!  But we're not there yet, that's for sure!

But on Sunday morning, my husband discovered this sign in our yard! The neighborhood judging was Saturday night and apparently they liked our house!

I was so excited since I am pretty pleased with at least most of our lights and decorations and love seeing the Christmas lights around the neighborhood.  Some houses have REALLY gone all out with the blow-up things and other decorations!  I love it!

To make my Christmas card with the little lights, I just stamped the little light bulb from Merry Minis and punched with the Merry Minis Punch Pack #126882. I placed the bulbs around the card and drew in the green cord with a marker.  The bottom was punched with the Scallop Edge Border Punch so that I could add a strip of Red Glimmer Paper #121790 to the bottom of the inside of the card. If Ihad more time, I would put a little Crystal Effects on each bulb which would make them each look shiny!  Maybe next year!  :)

Don't forget the Clearance Rack Blitz!  I don't know what is left or what will be left when you look…and don't forget to look over the "older" Clearance Rack too!  A good sale is a good sale!  Have fun!

Make A Christmas Collage in a Frame for a Gift!

Christmas Collage Frame

Here is a great gift you will enjoy making and your friend will enjoy receiving! This is a "partial" copy of a Christmas collage I saw online made by Connie Tumm. I had some 5" x 7" frames so my collage is a smaller version of hers!  The beauty of this gift is not only can you use your papercrafting skills for making something special, but you can customize it to the size of frame you have, colors you want to use, theme, occasion, simplicity or detailed work.  Since I had a small frame, I chose to put my greeting from Sweet Essentials in the center on a banner. Also, you can make your squares whatever size works for you, according to the look you want or according to the size of your frame.  Mine at 2" square.

I started with a background of Whisper White card stock and embossed with the Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder #117335. The squares are made with the Snow Festival Designer Series Paper #126908 and the coordinating card stock. For each square I used the Scentsational Season stamp set and coordinating Holiday Collection Framelits Dies, plus the cute Mitten Builder Punch #127824 and the Snow Flurry Bigz Die #127813. And for some bling, some Silver Glimmer Paper #124005, Champagne Glimmer Paper #127885, Baker's Twine #123125, a Rhinestone Jewel #119246 and some Stitched Grosgrain Ribbon #126877.

If you want to have some stamping fun, find a frame in your house you can use and make one of these collages.  They are fun and easy to make!

Making a Paper Bow and a Gift Box

Paper Bow Gift Box

Stampin' Up! announced recently that they would be putting little flyers in the order boxes, so this is the one I got in my most recent order. I think it is a great idea, a little bonus for our customers (and us!). Mine was about how to make those paper bows that we often buy in gigantic bags.  I've seen directions around the internet on how to make them, but until I got these directions from Stampin' Up! I didn't really stop and make one myself.

Amazing that you can make a pretty bow just out of several strips of paper and glue! My first one is a tiny bit wonky but it's not very noticeable…probably just to me.

I also took one of the Kraft Gift Boxes #124106 and decorated it with the brightly colored International Bazaar Designer Series Paper #126920. I measured the sides of the box and cut my pieces of paper just 1/8" smaller on two sides, allowing for a narrow margin of the Kraft Box to show.  Since all the paper coordinates, I could choose anything I wanted to.  The box was the perfect size for a bracelet I was giving my friend. It's good to keep some of these Kraft Gift Boxes on hand for all those gift-giving occasions!  Be sure to add them to your next Stampin' Up! order!

You can get anything you need at my Online Store here….and maybe you will get a bonus flyer in your package from Stampin' Up!

Make Your Own Christmas Gift Cards

Snow Festival Designer Series Paper Squares

Did you know that the Snow Festival Designer Series Paper #126908 in the Holiday Catalog has a sheet that looks like this in the package? I think the first thing everyone thought when they saw it was "gift tags"!  Just cut the whole page apart into the individual 3"x3" squares and mount on 3"x3" Whisper White cards (3" x 6" folded in half).

Snow Festival Christmas Gift Tags

Now these are just basic…and just fine!  If you want, you can punch a hole and tie on ribbon. You could stamp some greetings and adhere to the front if there isn't already a greeting.  You could probably jazz these up even more….maybe add some glitter! Make a bunch and put them in a cute gift box for a present to someone.  Who doesn't need more gift tags?!

To get your paper, card stock, adhesives and ribbon, just shop online at my Stampin' Up! store here!

Lovely As A Tree Christmas Card

Lovely As a Tree Card

What would Christmas be without a Lovely As A Tree card? This stamp set was popular when I started stamping with Stampin' Up! over ten years ago and it is just as popular and beautiful today!  Talk about a timeless classic!  If you don't have Lovely As A Tree in your stamp collection, you really need to get it. It could retire some day (gasp!!) but I hope not any time soon! I've made countless Christmas cards similar to this….just stamp the tall evergreen, stamp it again without reinking…and repeat. Then just SQUIGGLE side to side from the top of the tree to the bottom with the 2-Way Glue Pen and sprinkle on Dazzling Diamonds Glitter.  Elegance as easy as can be!

Stampin’ Up! Christmas Keepsake Box Kit

Christmas Keepsake Box

Stampin' Up! came out with this Christmas Keepsake Box a long time ago…maybe over a year ago. First it was an incentive gift, but then they began selling the extras. Now you can find them on the Stampin' Up! Clearance Rack. These boxes are SO beautiful when you make them I can't believe they have any left.

I've had mine for awhile…sitting out so I wouldn't forget it…the retired stamp set not put away…ready to go any minute….well, that minute finally came the other day! It didn't take too long to put together and isn't hard for as elaborate as it looks.  I watched the video that Shelli Gardner and her daughter Sara made while assembling this Christmas Keepsake Box, which is entertaining enough in itself! And then I started working on my box, looking back at the video if I wanted. You can follow their directions exactly, but it doesn't matter if you do it differently or mess up on something. It will all look beautiful in the end! I actually have my bow and flowers on the opposite end of the box than what the directions say….I guess I put the centerpiece on upside down!  But it doesn't matter!  The only thing mine is missing is to apply some spray adhesive and sprinkle on some glitter. I'm sure it will really add the finishing touch!

If you would like to add a bargain to your Stampin' Up! order, just head to the Clearance Rack and add Item #129024. I can only assume a product is still available in the Clearance Rack as I write this; everything in the Clearance Rack is while supplies last and could disappear at any time.  But what a great gift box to make as a gift itself for the holidays!  Put a few handmade cards or a special gift inside and the recipient will be wowed!

Just go to my Online Store to place your order for any supplies you need for your Christmas and holiday giving!
